Thank You Half Hour! w/ Thom Christopher Warren

Most of America knows this rock star as the runner-up to Season 3 of American Idol, but I know Diana DeGarmo as the hard-working, empathetic, ferociously generous actor, singer/songwriter, philanthropist with whom I had the honor to share the stage in a Columbus production of "Into the Woods." In this episode, Diana shares her stories of Idol, song-writing, being married to someone who is frustratingly good at everything (the NERVE), and of course, her time spent starring in the Broadway productions of "Hairspray," and "Hair," off-Broadway in "The Toxic Avenger," and most recently in an Atlanta-based production of "Little Shop of Horrors." I had the privilege of watching Diana stunningly lead our production of "Into the Woods," and in this sweet and lovely catch-up chat, she just reinforces why she is one of the kindest and most generous humans out there. Sit back and enjoy my conversation with a true Idol, in every sense of the word.

Claire was lucky enough to be one of those actors to learn and apply the makeup that the show is most known for 8 times a week on Broadway. Prior to the pandemic, Camp was starring in the ensemble of Frozen alongside two podcast guests, Ryann Redmond, and McKenzie Kurtz. Although she was in Frozen for a short period of time, she thoroughly enjoyed learning and being part of true Disney magic on a Broadway stage. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/jayme-starr/support

Today's very special guests are the quadruple threats Ace Young and Diana DeGarmo. You may remember them from the acclaimed TV show, American Idol as they both made the finals and wowed the country. Diana and Ace, married for eight years, are about to debut in the on-line production of "First Date: The Virtual Broadway Musical"  The show will be avaiable from Friday, July 23, 2021 until July 25, 2021. Get your tickets here! _____________________________________ First Date Summary Don't miss the virtual Broadway musical revival of FIRST DATE, streaming exclusively on Stellar for five performances only: July 23-25 Starring ‘‘American Idol'' alumni (and real-life married couple) ACE YOUNG and DIANA DEGARMO, and featuring KEVIN MASSEY (A Gentleman's Guide to Love & Murder), JENNIFER SÁNCHEZ(Pretty Woman: The Musical), NICK CEARLEY (‘‘The Skivvies''), VISHAL VAIDYA (Groundhog Day) and AURELIA WILLIAMS (In Transit). FIRST DATE tells the story of Aaron (YOUNG) and Casey (DEGARMO), two single New Yorkers on a blind date with nothing to lose, except maybe their patience and sanity. This hilariously relatable musical puts you right at the bar along with them--and all the persistent voices in their heads. While they fight the urge to call it a no-go, they suffer through every dating faux pas in the book, from awkward silences to rambling about their exes to panicking over their past. But in the end, they can't help but be curious about their chances at a second date…and maybe even finding love. With an irresistible, contemporary pop Broadway score, and filled with those cringeworthy yet priceless moments that might feel all-too familiar, FIRST DATE lets us know it's all part of the wonderful process of finding the perfect partner. _____________ Diana DeGarmo is a singer, songwriter, and full-out entertainer, from stage to screen, Diana DeGarmo has conquered it all and then some. Her powerhouse vocals shot her to fame on American Idol and opened doors to her numerous Broadway & Off-Broadway shows, National & International Tours, a recurring role on The Young & The Restless, and much more. Listen to her newest musical creation GEMINI anywhere you find fine music. Ace Young is a man of many talents and has the credits to back them up. Even before his multiple #1 hits as a songwriter, Ace was wowing millions on TV shows like American Idol and Half & Half. His Grammy-Nominated song “It's Not Over” gave way to his own BMI Pop Award and many other songwriting acclaims. Ace has starred on stages around the world from Broadway in HAIR and GREASE, touring the country in JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT, and US Aircraft Carriers across the Oceans with the USO. His next chapter of artistry has him sitting in the producer, writer, and artist's chairs, for his newest acoustic album Up All Night.” __________________________________________________________________________ Leave a review on Apple Podcasts (Itunes) Green Room On Air Web Site: http://greenroomonair.com  Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/raysgreenroom/ Opening and Closing Music by Carly Ozard: http://carlyozard.com Contact Ray at Green Room on Air: greenroomonair@gmail.com

This week, I talk to a guest from past times: writer Mitch del Monico! We talk about communicating, especially with people we disagree with. This is especially important in divisive times, in which disagreements can lead to relationship rupture. Mitch recently wrote a book addressing this phenomenon, called Politically Divided, which we also talk about. You may recognize Mitch from a previous episode, when I interviewed him and co-creator Shaan Dasani about Agent of Change. He’s a writer who has also worked as a film and music video director and digital media assistant on a ship that sailed the Atlantic Ocean. His feature film, Alto, stars Annabella Sciorra, Natalie Knepp, and Diana DeGarmo. Mitch has also written for HuffPo and has researched TV shows for the History Channel, Discovery, and the American Heroes Channel, among others, including nearly a hundred episodes of Modern Marvels. Mitch has spoken on panels at Comic-Con, Wonder-Con, the LA Film Festival, and CreatorUp! and has served as a juror for the Don Thompson LGBT Film Festival for the past three years in a row.

Tinypalooza is one of Georgia's most underrated beer fests The booming city of Snellville is just far enough from Atlanta that it's easy for metro residents to brush it off.  If you're not from Georgia, you may have heard Snellville mentioned as the home of American Idol contestant Diana DeGarmo.  It's also home to a great beer bar/bottle shop/cigar bar The Lincoln Fill Station. Tinypalooza 4.5 was part birthday celebration for co-owner Tiny McClannan and part anniversary party for "The Lincoln."  Tiny and his business partner Brad Tomlinson scour the country to bring in amazing beers.  There's plenty of great Georgia beer, and some bottle pours you won't find anywhere else close by.  As we found out, they also have basketball-and-trashcan beer pong at the event, which was very popular with people of questionable skill. We've partied with The Lincoln crew since their first festival.  As a matter of fact, their first event was our very first live remote, when Beer Guys Radio was just a few months old.  Each year, we try to talk to a few of the breweries in attendance as well as other cool people who happen to be around.  We also catch up with Tiny about the festival and what's new at the pub. Brian Roth of The Southern Brewing Co. always greets you with a smile and a hug.  He's straight up one of the nicest people in the craft beer world, and there are a lot of great people in craft beer.  Brian was kind enough to hang around as we struggled through some technical difficulties and chat with us about his brewery, his upcoming second location in Monroe, Ga; the recent collaboration brew they did with Beer Guys Radio and the crew from Reddit ATL Beer, and brewing in clay pots called amphoras. Caroline King (along with co-host Ashley Powers) is spreading the good word of craft beer from a women's perspective on the Bitch Beer Podcast.  Caroline joins us to take about her recent anniversary, what the goal of her show is, and some of the challenges women still face in the craft beer community.  We've seen some of these biases towards our own Becky Smalls, and although many may be unintentional, they still exist. Alcovy Brewing's Joe Paul and Cody Winters sit down with us to chat about their up-and-coming homebrewery.  They've won several awards on the homebrew circuit and collaborated with some local breweries to get their beer on at festivals.  What's in store for Alcovy?  We're not really sure.  Right now it sounds like they're just doing their thing and having fun. See you for 5.5, Lincoln! Subscribe to Beer Guys Radio Apple Podcasts | Google Podcasts Spotify | Soundcloud | Overcast  Stitcher | Podchaser | RSS

Steve Hayes has been a staple on the New York Cabaret scene for over twenty years, and explores his passion for the comedy teams of the 60's in his new two-man show, STORIES WE TELL OURSELVES. He explains his new take on the Gay Man/Straight Man schtick, and also discusses the gentrification of the Cabaret scene in New York over the past twenty years, and tells us where to find it's gritty roots being reinvigorated. He also talks about his new YOUTUBE series.
