In addition to film and tv acting, Russell is passionate about theatre and stage acting. With over thirty years of experience, he's now written his first book titled, "Shoes," and it is a significant story because it mirrors his youth and his relationship with his mother. As one of the founding members and producing artistic director of "Stagewalkers Productions", based in Los Angeles, CA, it gave the younger generation with creative, artistic and acting backgrounds to have a home base to sharpen their acting tools. It was a safe place for those who were interested in developing their craft of acting or any theatre related topic.Speaking with Russell was so easy. His rich stories of his childhood with his family are so intriguing. Born and raised in Huntsville, TX, then his family moved to Houston. You'll hear stories of Blanche Williamson who hired Russell's grandmother as a domestic and then Ms. Williamson hired Dorothy. "Blanche was a friend of the family, beyond being an employer," Russell recalls. "The Williamson family was so loving and generous they were like family." Working with this lovely family allowed Dorothy to make her way through Nursing school at Alvin Community College and so much more. Russell says "that she, (meaning his mother), changed the trajectory of what was know in my family."All of the wonderful memories and lessons of his mother that Russell recalls have been passed onto his two children. To this day, he recalls how his mother could laugh at herself, tackle anything without fear, and how she was full of hope and optimism.Don't miss a minute of this conversation. A friend of mine was killed on a motorcycle while riding to a Bill Glass Prison Ministry event. The last time I saw him, he and I were visiting inmates on death row together in Huntsville Texas. We were accompanied by a lady from Colorado and her husband. She sang songs to the inmates and my friend, the director of Texas prisons, and I spoke to the inmates about Jesus and eternity. Nine inmates with dates already set for their executions made decisions for the Lord that day . . . https://www.wordsfortheday.com/2023/11/wouldnt-you-want-to-know/

A Google search for Martha's Chapel Cemetery will lead you down a reportedly haunted road where any number of ghostly spirits and demons are said to roam unsettling the living who pass through this desolate corner of Eastern Texas. But what happens when a cemetery's main attraction is only about its ghosts and otherworldly atmosphere? We tend to lose sight of why the cemetery even exists, as a burial ground for real people who lived Ordinary Extraordinary lives and they deserve to be respectfully remembered. In this episode Jennie and Dianne learn the true story of Martha's Chapel Cemetery and share the stories of many who were laid to rest among the peaceful shade of its pine trees. From Methodist ministers to Civil War soldiers to women who dedicated their lives to caring for their families, they uncover a tapestry of lives, showcasing the depth and richness of history that resides within the cemetery's grounds. To purchase tickets to the 34th annual Gilpin County Historical Society Cemetery Crawl, click here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/gilpin-historical-society-34th-annual-cemetery-crawl-tickets-657128116887To purchase tickets to the third annual Beyond the Grave: an evening with Bram Stoker, click here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/beyond-the-grave-an-evening-with-bram-stoker-tickets-696195337997?aff=oddtdtcreatorPhotos from https://www.findagrave.com/cemetery/5045/martha's-chapel-cemetery - Photographers include: T. Over the past few weeks, we have discussed different aspects about the Supreme Court – and today that thread continues with a larger discussion regarding privacy rights. What exactly is a "right to privacy," and how can we get involved if we care a lot about privacy rights? I'm joined on this episode by John Domino. John received his PhD from Miami University and is a professor at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville Texas. He teaches and conducts research in the areas of civil rights and liberties, constitutional law, judicial politics, and legal history, and he has published books and articles on civil rights and liberties, federal and state judicial politics, judicial recusal, the right to privacy, and a biography of a well-known Texas judge.

Angel Leoncio Recendiz aka The Railroad Killer who, throughout the 90s, brutally and I mean brutally raped and murdered 16 people but is suspected of killing as many as 23 or more. He was known as The Railroad Killer because of his penchant for riding the rails around the United States choosing his victims simply based on how close to the railroad tracks their homes were. For almost 13 years he traveled the country choosing victims at random raping, murdering, and then robbing innocent men and women before either jumping back on the train or stealing their vehicle and dumping it in San Antonio Texas before sneaking back across the border into Mexico until his next murderous expedition into the US. After a short stint on the FBI's 10 Most Wanted list, Resendiz turned himself in to Texas authorities before being convicted of murder and sentenced to death. In 2006, Resendiz paid his debt to society with his life by lethal injection in the Huntsville Unit in Huntsville Texas. For over 50 years, Texans gathered at the Walls Unit in Huntsville Texas to watch the toughest convicts compete in the Texas Prison Rodeo. The rodeo was a fixture of Texas Octobers until budgets and changing times brought an end to the roughest rodeo around. In this episode, you'll relive those days and hear the story of the Texas Prison Rodeo.
On March 11, 1998, 47-year-old Jerry Lee Hogue was put to death for the 1979 arson-murder of an Arlington, Texas, woman. Unlike the lethal injection earlier that year of Karla Faye Tucker (the first woman put to death in Texas in 130 years), which drew hundreds of national and international reporters and demonstrators, Hogue's execution -- like most in Huntsville -- went largely unnoticed. Long Haul's Dan Collison spent the day of Hogue's execution interviewing Huntsville residents all over town: the mayor, city manager, and district attorney, none of whom was aware that an execution was scheduled that day. Neither did the regulars at the Cafe Texan, nor the women getting manicures at "Perfect Nails" on Main Street just a few blocks from the death house. At year's end, Collison appeared on 60 Minutes in a segment exploring the possibility Hogue may have been innocent. Winner: National Federation of Community Broadcasters Award.
