Verity! began as six women talking about Doctor Who almost fourteen years ago.* A lot has changed for us and the show and it's been a wonderful journey, but this will be our last episode (our 545th, for anyone keeping track.) To close out the podcast, all six of us got together to record a look back. We talked about our initial hopes for the podcast when we started, the path Verity! took to today, and what the future holds for us. Plus lots of stories and love for our listeners! Do you have a memory related to Verity! that you want to share? Please leave us a comment here or tag us on Bluesky. I would like to thank Stuff for reporting on what might well be one of the final times my name is associated with the Broadcasting Standards Authority. It encapsulated everything that is wrong with the BSA. This was the headline on Friday; "Complaint over Hosking's 'cocked it up' Covid remarks fails". A person moans to the BSA, the BSA rejects the moan, they publish the result and then a website looking for clicks whacks a photo of me up and sticks the headline next to it. What a waste of time. This time it was from a Martin Garrood. He got exercised about my review of Phase Two of the Covid Inquiry. He claimed I misrepresented what the report said. He also moaned about balance, or lack of it. This is BSA nonsense 101. Most of the people who waste our time on this sort of thing don't understand the rules of engagement. The rules of engagement are not about whether you like it, or me, or not. It's whether I'm allowed to have an opinion and, guess what, I am. Hence the complaint was rejected. They pointed out it's an opinion. People expect an opinion from the likes of me. No one expects both sides of a complex story in a two minute segment, therefore the whole balance argument fell away as well. There was also a bit around fairness, which also fell over based on the idea politicians face extra scrutiny because they are publicly accountable. Anyway, all of this is coming to an end, thank the good Lord. It's people like ol' Martin that have kept them in business. People who don't like opinion that doesn't suit them and want someone to do something about it are, in a way, narks. Broadcasting rules need to be about fact or legality, defamation or egregious behaviour. Serious stuff. Stuff that can ruin a life or reputation. Having a spray at a useless Government over Covid is not any of those things. Yet we have endured a mechanism that is paid for by all of us for the agitated few to whinge their hearts out. So if this was it thank goodness, and let the record show that on Hosking vs the whiners, Hosking won about 97% of the time. Free speech generally rules as it should. There you go Martin. Moan about that. LISTEN ABOVESee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

THIS IS IT. After ten years, hundreds of conversations, and countless moments of laughter, tears, growth, and God's faithfulness… this is our final episode. It doesn't feel like a goodbye. It feels like a commissioning. What started as two friends sitting behind microphones became something so much bigger than we ever imagined. This podcast became a gathering place — a community of women walking arm in arm through faith, healing, leadership, friendship, heartbreak, growth, and all the in-between spaces of life. Our hearts are full of gratitude. We're grateful to every one of you who invited us into your car rides, kitchens, morning walks, and late-night moments. We're grateful for technology that somehow connected our hearts across cities, countries, and seasons of life. And most of all, we're grateful for the way God met each of us here. On the podcast today, we talk about all we've learned: how healing rarely happens in isolation, why consistency matters, and how authenticity builds trust. We talk about the power of friendship, how endings can also be beginnings, and what it looks like to honor the past while bravely stepping into the future. As we close this chapter, we want you to know this: you were never just listeners to us. You were companions on the journey. We have felt your prayers, your encouragement, your stories, and your presence every step of the way. And wherever life takes us next, we'll carry this community with us. Because at the end of the day, this has always been about more than a podcast. It's been about becoming. Healing. Belonging. And most of all, walking each other home. May you walk forward in love with great courage. Thank you for these incredible ten years!! QUESTIONS TO HELP YOU RISE What have you received from Our Time to Rise Podcast? Offer up a word of gratitude to God for that, for where He has met you in that. Where is it my time to rise? Offer you time to rise to God. Prayer and Declarations Over Our Listeners -May you walk in the knowledge of being chosen and known, believing God had and has a purpose for you in the circle. -May you treasure the unique abilities, talents, and gifts you've been gifted, knowing they are to be used for purposes beyond yourself. -When doubt or fear sneaks up on you and whispers your name, may you turn your head toward the light of Christ and embrace your true identity. -May you find peace and joy in the work in front of you, believing it has a purpose beyond what you can see. -May you find pleasure in the small tasks and gifts of ordinary life, believing God chose to enter the world through the smallest way. -when you make a mistake or experience the pain of failure. May it not convert to shame or end with giving up. -May grace pour over you and flow through you at every step and may it continually transform your life from the inside out. -When Pride offers to travel beside you, may you quickly recognize its face and refuse its company. -May you embrace the hand of humility with a firm grip and embrace the wisdom that comes from her hand. May you walk with your eyes fixed on service rather than on self. -When others try to compete or compare, may you instead link arms and be the voice of unity and encouragement. -May you offer dignity in the form of sincerity, listening, and compassion. -May you look at the doors as gifts rather than burdens, believing God has His glory in mind when He works out the details. -When leadership grows your character and pushes you to the end of yourself, may you discover more of God there. Above all, may you walk in love, believing God is love today, tomorrow, and always. LET'S CONNECT! Did you like this episode? Let us know and leave a review on itunes or share it with a friend. Ken and Lima open the phones on the LeBron question and things get heated fast when a caller says he wants nothing to do with LeBron coming back, dismissing the 2016 championship and calling himself done with the drama, which sets Lima off on one of his most passionate defenses of LeBron in recent memory. Ken tries to play peacemaker, arguing you can disagree with fans who don't want LeBron back without calling them idiots, while Lima cannot fathom how any real Cleveland basketball fan could let hurt feelings outweigh a championship that ended a 52-year drought. A caller named Denise from Cleveland Heights calls in to back Lima up, making the point that LeBron did whatever he needed to do for his career just like anyone would, and that the city should be on its knees grateful. Ken closes by making an underrated point: a LeBron swan song season would take enormous pressure off Donovan Mitchell and shift all the daily narrative away from the championship-or-bust scrutiny the current roster carries.

One Last Time, Baconsale is going to be discussing 2010s pop stars. We have to Humble ourselves a little and Take Care during this tournament, because while we may not Treasure some of these artists, there are a Million Reasons why they're beloved by others. As we fill in each Blank Space on the bracket, there may be some Blurred Lines in our logic. Our arguments might also go in Circles as we're Thinking Out Loud. And we could be sitting in silence for FourFiveSeconds trying to make a decision. However, we'll do our best to exercise our Demons and stay Wide Awake as we're Rolling in the Deep discussions about this music. Sorry, We Can't Stop with all these song title puns. Press play because This Is What You Came For. And for some additional Cheap Thrills, download the advanced bracket at Baconsale.com.

Happy Valentine's Day ficlets! Love is in the air, but perhaps the journey to a happily ever after isn't as straightforward as it seems. As we put some beloved characters through twists and turns on classic tropes, we also examine what it means to bridge the distance between your perception of someone and the reality of them, how sense of place can connect to moments of tension, and our lack of knowledge about the court system. Fics discussed in this episode: "One Last Time," by ElAurian (Ace Attorney), "No Retreat, Baby, No Surrender," by itsnotbleak (Captain America Movies), and "loving this body" by beetlesandstars & kryptonian (Heated Rivalry). H/N (Host note): Reid's mic was experiencing some difficulties this episode, we apologize for the occasional impact that had on the audio quality.

Alex Lacamoire is back for round two and I hope you're ready because not only does he put that keyboard to very good use, but Alex was also kind enough to bring isolated stems from the Hamilton cast album. Yep, I know, it's insane. Not only does he play some of his favorite parts (the Stevie Wonder moment in One Last Time and the Eleanor Rigby part of the opening number, for example) but Alex gives us a tour around the orchestra, one instrument at a time: strings from Burn, percussion from Guns and Ships, guitar in Helpless, stride piano in The Room Where It Happens, the list goes on and on and onnnnn. Plus! We talk Billy Joel, Chopin, Steven Sondheim, Taylor Swift's The Life of a Showgirl, the connection between The Beatles and Sisqó, and Alex shares fantastic stories from his experience working on Sweeney Todd. This is such a deep dive and I promise that you'll love every second of it! Seriously, this barely scratches the surface of Lac's generosity. What'd I tell you? The vibes. are. PRISTINE. Desmond Sean Ellington is back for round two to further show that if you have to chase something, it's probably not for you. This week, Desmond reflects on his five years touring with Hamilton as a standby and how he used what he learned making his Broadway debut in Hell's Kitchen (after starting with the show down at The Public). As he continues to spread the Gospel of Surrender™, Desmond expands on his Hell's Kitchen experience including how and why he turned down a chance to go back to Hamilton (hint: Broadway was calling!). Desmond also talks about being a firm believer that we all have the power to create the world we want to live in, why his unconventional way of finding his passion continues the cycle of representation, and reminds us to stay kind because that's really what it's all about anyway. Plus, Desmond walks us through going craaaazy viral with his “One Last Time” soundcheck (if you haven't heard it before GET READY it's so good), how seeing Satisfied for the first time made him want to shoot up out of his seat like a rocket, and lets us in on tiny Hamilton moments where he connected with his fellow actors on stage.
