Sven Gamsky doesn't want to be boxed in. The producer and musician who performs under the pseudonym Still Woozy has found comfort in psychedelic bedroom pop but continues to push the boundaries of his sonic approach. His sophomore effort Loveseat showcases this experimentation and vulnerability both lyrically and sonically. The expected synthesizers are still present but paired with sweet, layered vocals and occasional fuzzed-out guitars. The result is an expansive, welcoming 13-song collection that pushes Still Woozy's artistry to new heights.Watch Still Woozy perform stripped-down versions of “Lemon” and “Shotput” from Loveseat as well as the breakout single “Goodie Bag” live at WNXP's Sonic Cathedral here.

Aristotle Domingo started life as an active kid, but his life took a dramatic turn in his twenties when he fell into a three-month-long coma and spent a year in the hospital battling sepsis and its life-altering aftermath. After a series of severe bone infections, he ultimately became a double below-knee amputee. His adaptability, positivity and relentless drive to embrace new challenges turned that chapter of his life into an opportunity for growth and new experiences. Today, he is a multi-sport athlete, focusing on blade road running and competes in the para wheelchair division of men's shot put in Track and Field. Recognizing the need for support in the amputee community, Aristotle founded the Amputee Coalition of Toronto, where he continues to educate and empower both people experiencing limb loss and the broader sports community on how to better support adaptive athletes. "You're going to have stuff go wrong regardless. This year I had a lot of stuff go wrong, but it's not necessarily about not having anything go wrong. It's about how you respond to those issues that will inherently come up.” Today's guest is Ryan Crouser. Ryan just won his third straight Olympic gold medal in the men's shot put in Paris, becoming the first shot putter in history to win three Olympic titles. He did so with a mark of 22.90m, which is the second best in Olympic history, behind only his performance from Tokyo in 2021. The season wasn't easy for Ryan after winning World Indoors in Glasgow in March, he battled through pectoral and elbow injuries throughout most of the spring and the early summer that forced him to open his season at the U.S. Olympic Trials. Despite this adversity, he still came out on top when it mattered most, and now he's chasing something big in the last few Diamond League meets of the year. In this episode, he talks through the recovery process after picking up an elbow injury at the World Indoor Championships in March and then tearing his pectoral muscle about a month later. Ryan wasn't able to open his season until the U.S. Trials, but he picked up the win there to secure his spot in Paris. The Olympic final was never in doubt, as his first throw was good enough to win the competition by almost half-a-meter, and rain in the final three rounds stymied a comeback attempt from his rivals. His third straight Olympic gold makes him only the fourth thrower to ever win three Olympic titles. With the highest-pressure competition of the year out of the way, Ryan is ready to produce something massive, closing out his season with six meets in the span of three weeks. Maddison-Lee Wesche claimed the silver medal in a thrilling women's shot put final at the Paris 2024 Olympics this morning. Yemisi Ogunleye of Germany emerged as the ultimate champion, but not before a nail-biting battle with Wesche for the top spot. For most of the final, Wesche held the lead. However, Ogunleye had a remarkable final round throw, stealing the lead from the Kiwi athlete. Piney caught up with Wesche for a chat about her incredible achievement. She told him that she's pretty happy, liking the feeling of throwing a personal best at the Olympics and getting a silver medal, though she would've liked the gold. With nearly 50 years of experience coaching high-level athletes, including Olympic Silver Medalist Raven Saunders, you would be hard-pressed to find someone more knowledgeable than Coach Herbert Johnson. I'm incredibly grateful that he graced us with his presence to help me break down some of the marquee events of the upcoming Olympic Games in Paris! We start things off with the Women's 100m. American Sha'Carri Richardson looks to cap off an incredible comeback story by bringing home the Gold. But, as always, the Jamaicans have something to say about that. We discuss the differences between Richardson and Shericka Jackson's skillsets plus the odds of sprint legend Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce to once again find the podium. The Men's 100m has its own USA-Jamaica rivalry. Noah Lyles is one of the most polarizing figures in the sport, but also one of the most talented. Can Jamaicans Kishane Thompson and Oblique Seville silence him? Or will Italy's Lamont Jacobs show the world once again why he's the reigning 100m Gold Medalist? Coach Johnson also talks about how the physiology of sprinters has changed over time. Then, we move on to discussing the potential of world records falling. Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone's lowered her own 400m hurdle world record at the US Olympic Trials. Can she do it again? Or will Femke Bol prove that Sydney has more to compete against than just the clock? Also, Sweden's Mondo Duplantis is the king of the Pole Vault. Coach explains what makes him so great and what has to happen for him to once again set a world record. We finish up with the Women's Shot Put! Coach Johnson discovered Raven Saunders as a high school freshman at Burke High School in Charleston, SC. As their coach, he helped guide Raven to the National High School record in the Shot Put. They have once again teamed up heading into this Olympic Games as they look to recreate that magic. Coach Johnson talks about why Raven is his favorite to bring home the Gold but also breaks down why the other athletes will make it a tall task. We also have a conversation about his coaching philosophy, including his years coaching me! On the docket is a walk down memory lane as they both reminisce on their time in USA Wrestling Junior Nationals over in Fargo, ND, where Henry is currently. Kamaru gives us an insider view straight from his seat at the analysts table during UFC Fight Night in Denver last week. “We see upsets all the time in this sport. Anything can happen to anybody on any given day. Those two are just on a whole other level. It's kind of motivating to me. They're #1 and #2 of all-time. They are the best two in the sport. They are active, they're in their prime right now… As a guy who's a little bit of a peg down from them, it's super motivating. I want to beat those guys more than anything – because if I'm able to beat them, I'm beating absolute legends of the sport.” Payton Otterdahl joins the show after qualifying for his second Olympic Games in shot put. Payton shares about how he approaches head-to-head competition with shot put legends Ryan Crouser and Joe Kovacs, breaks down the depth of the shot put field that he'll face in Paris, how his shot put practices compare to his actual competitions, how he uses the offseason to his advantage, and lots more. It's Friday, June 21st, A.D. 2024. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Adam McManus Armenian Christian man received 10-year prison sentence in Iran After losing a court appeal in early June, Armenian Hakop Gochymayan received a 10-year prison sentence for allegedly participating in Christian activities in Iran, reports International Christian Concern. Gochymayan and his wife, Elisa, who is of Iranian descent and has family in Iran, were detained near Tehran in August 2023. In a report from Barnabas Aid, the couple was “placed in solitary confinement and subjected to intense psychological torture.” Hebrews 13:3 says, “Don't forget those who are in prison. Remember them as though you were in prison with them. And don't forget those who are suffering. Remember them as though you were suffering with them.” Authorities in Pardis, Iran, arrested the couple, who were in the country visiting friends and family as they dined at an acquaintance's home. Reportedly, the Armenian man had several copies of the New Testament, written in the Persian language of Farsi, and had attended multiple churches during his stay. In an attempt to dissuade conversions, it is illegal in Iran to speak to non-Christians about the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to have Bibles written in Farsi, which is the nation's official language. According to Open Doors, Iran is the ninth most difficult country worldwide in which to be a Christian. Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong Un sign pact in China's shadow Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un signed a new pact Wednesday that includes a pledge of mutual defense if either is attacked, reports NBC News. The agreement was sealed at a summit in Pyongyang, the capital of North Korea, during a rare visit by Putin to the reclusive nuclear-armed state as both countries face growing confrontations with the West. The BBC noted that the real power in the region was not in Pyongyang, nor did it want to be. Putin and Kim were bonding on China's doorstep. While North Korean artillery would be a shot in the arm for Putin's war effort, swapping missile technology for it would not exactly be a great deal. And Putin might realize it's not worth annoying China, which buys Russian oil and gas, and remains a crucial ally in a world that has isolated him. Pyongyang needs China even more. It's the only other country Kim Jong Un visits. Anywhere between a quarter to a half of North Korea's oil comes from Russia, but at least 80% of its business is with China. Megachurch pastor Robert Morris resigns over moral failure Megachurch pastor Robert Morris, the 62-year-old founder of Gateway Church in Southlake, Texas, resigned after Cindy Clemishire accused him of sexually abusing her over multiple years in the 1980s beginning when she was 12, reports The Christian Post. Morris had admitted that he had engaged in "inappropriate sexual behavior with a young lady" while he was a pastor at another church in his early 20s. But he did not name his accuser or disclose her age at the time the abuse began. 1 Timothy 3:2 and 7 says, “Now the overseer is to be above reproach, faithful to his wife, temperate, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach. … He must also have a good reputation with outsiders, so that he will not fall into disgrace and into the devil's trap.” In the announcement of Morris' resignation, Gateway Church elders said they have retained the law firm of Haynes & Boone, LLP, to "conduct an independent, thorough, and professional review of the report of past abuse to ensure we have a complete understanding of the events from 1982-1987." In their statement, the elders wrote, “Regretfully, prior to Friday, June 14, the elders did not have all the facts of the inappropriate relationship between Morris and the victim, including her age at the time and the length of the abuse. The elders' prior understanding was that Morris's extramarital relationship, which he had discussed many times throughout his ministry, was with ‘a young lady' and not abuse of a 12-year-old child.” However, Cindy Clemishire claims that in 2007 “at least one elder had specific notice that I was sexually abused beginning when I was 12 years old.” One ripple effect is that the Texas-based Daystar Television Network, one of the largest Christian television networks in the world, has removed all programming featuring Robert Morris. German shot put athlete gives glory to God German athlete Yemisi Ogunleye won the bronze medal in the shot put competition at the European Athletics Championships in Rome with a throw of 61 feet, reports Evangelical Focus. After winning the silver medal at the World Championships in Glasgow in March 2024, she has become one of the leading names in her discipline. After competing, she said, “I gave it my all.” In addition to her sporting career, the athlete also openly talks about her Christian faith and participates in a Gospel choir. On social media she wrote, “Thank you for the many prayers. Is God good? All the time!” Psalm 29:2 says, “Ascribe to the LORD the glory due His name; worship the LORD in the splendor of His holiness.” 8 Worldview listeners donated $3,390 And finally, toward our $63,000 goal by this Saturday, June 22nd – the three-week mark of our month-long fundraiser, 8 Worldview listeners stepped up to the plate to help fund our 6-member team for another fiscal year. Our thanks to Robert in Annandale, Virginia and Augustine in Auburn, California – both of whom gave $25. We appreciate Chad in Moriarty, New Mexico who pledged $20/month for 12 months for a gift of $240 as well as Richard in Wyoming, Delaware, Michael in Houston, Texas, and Bill in Thibodaux, Louisiana – each of whom pledged $25/month for 12 months for a gift of $300 each. And we're grateful to God for Bill in Castle Rock, Colorado who gave $1,000 as well as a husband and wife in Louisiana who donated $1,200. Those 8 donors gave $3,390. Ready for our new grand total? Drum roll please. (sound effect of drum roll) $51,845.16 (audience cheering) Toward this Saturday's goal of $63,000, we need to raise $11,154.84. That means we need to need 5 people to pledge $100 per month for 12 months, 4 people to pledge $50 per month for 12 months, and 8 people to pledge $25/month for 12 months. Will you step up to the plate? Please go to TheWorldview.com, click on “Give,” select the dollar amount you'd like to donate, and click on the recurring monthly tab if that's your wish. Gary discusses the economic and the biological differences between men's and women's sports. People must (and do) ignore both the market and the obvious differences between men and women in order to bring in the equality and parity argument in sports. A short lesson in both economics and sports is Gary's response.
Yulimar Rojas of Venezuela is the Olympic Champion, World Record Holder, 4-time World Champion and 3-time World Indoor Champion in the Triple Jump. She recently announced that she will not compete at the 2024 Olympics due to an Achilles injury, ending her consecutive gold medal streak. The Triple Jump is often forgotten and far from the most popular events, especially compared to track events like the 100m, 1500m or even field events like the Shot Put and Long Jump. But in just the past 5 years, Rojas and a few other women have arguably produced the most dominance in the event that we have seen in over 15 years. The women's event is relatively young, only getting added to the Olympics in 1996, but in the 30 years since then, there have been a few different era's where women have pushed the boundaries of what is possible in the event. Since winning her first Gold medal in 2017, Yulimar Rojas has arguably ushered in a new era of women's jumping that will be on full display at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Despite Rojas' absence this year, the Women's Triple Jump is in very good hands and will likely be one of, if not the most competitive event to watch at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris this summer. Today we'll dive into a brief history of the Women's Triple Jump, discuss the different era's of the event over the past 30 years as well as highlight the top contenders for the podium in Paris later this summer.
