Presented by Lauren Stibgen This year marked my third reading of the Bible cover to cover in a year. It isn't a literal page by page turn from cover to cover, but a reading plan that jumps between the Old and New Testaments and a Psalm each day. My experience with reading the Bible in its entirety has proved that the Word of God continues to have new revelation to me as a believer with every read—even when I have already seen the words countless times. Recently, I have been lingering with one single verse in Psalm. Psalm 84:10 reads: Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere; I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked. Numerous things about this verse jumped out to me but the one-word title I cannot ignore is doorkeeper—simply, the person on duty at the entrance of a building. My mind was flooded with doorkeepers. Do they still exist today? They do. The person who greets you at a nice hotel, someone taking a ticket at a movie theater, a guard at an office building. As I pondered the vocation of being a doorkeeper, I thought about describing my role to someone if they asked me about what I do for a living. I thought about what financial compensation a doorkeeper would receive. If this was my profession, would I have pride in my work or feel lowly? Simply, would I be content being a doorkeeper in the house my God? After so many years of exploring education and training in leadership and law, would I be OK just greeting people at the door? I thought about the spaces this verse described. God's courts and the tents of wickedness. Courts feel grand, lovely, important, royal. Tents feel dirty, small, out in the wilderness, primitive. Where would I want to dwell? Often, we choose a tent. While it may not be intentional, we are easily caught up in the worldly aspects of what success looks like in the form of a title or our position on the corporate ladder. We settle for the tent of wickedness and forget to look at the glorious, beautiful royal courts in the house of God. When we are caught up in this world, we miss that the doorkeeper has a position of great importance. She is a doorkeeper in the house of God. If we stop and take a humble approach to our identity at work (leadership), we can see that we are doorkeepers to the house of God right where we are at work, and there is no better position we could every enjoy. Jesus is clear in his call to us as his followers. In Mathew 28:19-20 he exhorts, Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the father, and of the son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them all I have commanded you. How do we show up with the posture of a humble doorkeeper? Whether we are truly a doorkeeper or if we hold positions of leadership, we should consider this royal appointment with humility. If we consider our identity with God, we can take comfort. Throughout the Bible, God appointed the lowly to do great things. Consider Moses. Moses was truly resistant to the calling God had for his life to the point that he even begged God to give the job to someone else! Now Moses was a very humble man, more humble than anyone else on the face of the earth (Numbers 12:3). As we read about Moses' leadership of the Israelites, we see how he constantly leaned on the greatness of God to help him lead the people. In Numbers 11 we see everyone complaining about food and water and wandering. Moses is displeased and “the anger of the Lord blazed hotly” (Numbers 11:10). So, Moses grows sick of the complaining, and God is just plain mad. Since they are in this leading together, Moses tells God he cannot carry the burden alone—the burden was too heavy for him. God answers and says, Bring me seventy men of the elders of Israel...Have them come to the tent of meeting, that they may stand there with you. I will come down and speak with you there, and I will take some of the power of the Spirit t...
Today's Political and Religious Climates Harden Hearts of Many “Believers” Who Turn Away from God - Jesus Followers Are to and Can Help Those with Hardening Hearts MESSAGE SUMMARY: No matter the hardness of a person's heart, who has walked away from God, they will respond to your initiatives that are based on your love and trust. However, so many of us Christians are so focused on doing their religious or spiritual things and keeping to their “busy” schedules that they do not have time to love and care for the needs of other – physical and/or spiritual. Is there anything you can do for someone with a calloused heart or who has walked away from God because they were not discipled? Yes, you must start by praying for them – asking God to move in their lives; asking God to intervene in their life situations; asking God to break up the hardness of their heart. Also, you must build a better personal relationship, with this person, through your trust and caring love. In Mathew 18:12-13, Jesus presents God's perspective regarding the pursuit of even one person that has walked away: “What do you think? If a man has a hundred sheep, and one of them has gone astray, does he not leave the ninety-nine on the mountains and go in search of the one that went astray? And if he finds it, truly, I say to you, he rejoices over it more than over the ninety-nine that never went astray. So it is not the will of my Father who is in heaven that one of these little ones should perish." TODAY'S PRAYER: Father, to you I acknowledge that I don't want to go the way of powerlessness and humility. Like Peter, I want to know what you are doing with those around me. I love you. Help me to trust you with this day, with tomorrow, and with my whole life. In Jesus' name, amen. Scazzero, Peter. Emotionally Healthy Spirituality Day by Day (p. 92). Zondervan. Kindle Edition. TODAY'S AFFIRMATION: Today, because of I am filled with the Holy Spirit, I will not be controlled by my Compulsions. Rather, I will walk in the Spirit's fruit of Patience. “The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.” (Galatians 5:22f). When the Bottom Falls Out in Your Life, Ask God to Get Involved Through Prayer AND Thanks – You will Be Amazed! MESSAGE SUMMARY: Sometimes the bottom falls out in your life, and you wonder where God is in all your stuff. Well, the challenge to you is to “Thank God” by turning your eyes away from all your life's “stuff” and turning your eyes to God and thanking Him! We have no better teacher, of the need to address God with our thanks, than when, in Luke11:2, Jesus responded to His Disciples' request to teach them to pray: “And he said to them, ‘When you pray, say: Father, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come.'". By taking your situation to God in prayer AND thanks, you will be amazed at what will happen to your situation which, before you asked God through prayer AND thanks, seemed insurmountable. What do you usually do? You worry and fret – you focus on the negative and give the adverse situation so much power, in your life, rather than focusing on God and giving Him thanks. In Mathew 6:34, Jesus tells you not to be anxious about your life situations: “Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.". Ask God to get involved in your life through prayer and thanks – you will be amazed. TODAY'S PRAYER: Lord, may your will, not my will, be done in my life. You know how easy it is to call myself a Christian but then become busy, forgetting about your will and desires. Forgive me for this sin. Help me listen to you, and grant me the courage to faithfully surrender to you. In Jesus' name, amen. Scazzero, Peter. Emotionally Healthy Spirituality Day by Day (p. 25). Zondervan. Kindle Edition. TODAY'S AFFIRMATION: Today, I affirm that, because I am in Jesus Christ, My life is about Christ (Philippians 1:21). “I can do everything through Him who gives me strength.”. (Philippians 4:14). God Reminds Those Who Want a Deeper Relationship with Him of His Expectations for Their Management of His Resources He Provided Them MESSAGE SUMMARY: As followers of Jesus, we want to go deeper in our personal relationship with God. However, God tells some of us that we must start being more responsible for the material things that He has provided before we can go deeper into spiritual revelations. Also, many of us, while seeking to know the Lord better, want to know His will in our lives and for the World. At the same time, we want to be filled with the Holy Spirit. In Mathew 6:19-21, Jesus is telling us that all that we have, which we tend to call our own, really comes from God. God has expectations for our good management of His resources in our personal relationship with Him: “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.". God tells us that we are to be good managers of His gifts; however, in Luke 12:19-21, Jesus completes a parable about a man who thought that all his assets were his and not from God: “'And I will say to my soul, Soul, you have ample goods laid up for many years; relax, eat, drink, be merry.' But God said to him, ‘Fool! This night your soul is required of you, and the things you have prepared, whose will they be?' So is the one who lays up treasure for himself and is not rich toward God.”. Pointedly, God is telling us that if we cannot be responsible for the earthly treasures, which He has provided us, then how can we be responsible for His Spiritual treasures that He wants to provide us as we seek to deepen our personal relationship with Him? TODAY'S PRAYER: Most merciful God I confess that I have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what I have done, and by what I have left undone. I have not loved you with my whole heart; I have not loved my neighbors as myself. I am truly sorry and I humbly repent. For the sake of your son Jesus Christ, have mercy on me and forgive me; that I might delight in your will, and walk in your ways, to the glory of Your Name. Amen. TODAY'S AFFIRMATION: Today, because I am filled with the Holy Spirit, I will not be controlled by my Despair. Rather, I will walk in the Spirit's fruit of Joy. “The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.” (Galatians 5:22f). In Mathew 7:24-27, Jesus tells us a parable about a wise and foolish man. One man built on a rock, while the other built on sand. Today, many are building on sand, and it is only a matter of time until the storms come, which will reveal our true foundation. So how can we be sure our foundation is built on the rock? What does it mean to build on the rock? Join me as I provide practical tools on how to build our lives on the rock. Connect With Me: https://www.valtopalu.com/

Dennis Aldy preaches on God's heart for the local church. We need to ask ourselves if our identity is in the local church or in our job or personal ministry for God. In Mathew 16:18 it states, " on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.”What is God building? HIS CHURCH! The local church is the most important thing we can be apart of because the gates of hades WILL NOT OVERCOME IT!July 21st, 2024If you have a question or topic you would like Turning Hearts to discuss, please email:info@thministry.com
I greet you in Jesus' precious name. It is Saturday morning, the 13th of July, 2024, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We go to the book of Mathew 6:18, from the Amplified Version of the Bible: “… your Father who sees [what is done] in secret will reward you.”Now, I don't know about you, I want my reward in heaven, I do not want my reward here on earth. In Mathew 6, you will see the Lord says when you are fasting, you are going without food because you want to deal with an issue in your life or you want to grow closer to the Lord, don't walk around looking like you are half dead but comb your hair, wash your face and don't let anyone know what you're doing and then you'll be rewarded by the Lord.Jesus said in Mathew 11:11 about John the Baptist,“among those born of women there has not risen one greater than John the Baptist” Why? Because John the Baptist never touched God's glory. In John 3:30, John says: “He must increase, but I must decrease.” We've got to remain humble and I want to tell you, I don't know if you're like me but sometimes I get so disappointed in myself. We love the applause of men, don't we? The thing is, the Lord says if we get our applause here, or your reward here, there's nothing for you in heaven. I remember one Sunday after Jill and I had preached in a church in Durban, we were on our way home and we went into a little restaurant and we had a meal together quietly. There were other people in the restaurant and when it came time for us to leave, we said to the waitress, ”Can you bring us the bill please.” She said, ”The bill has already been paid.” We said, ”There must be some mistake, we haven't paid yet.” She said, ”No, the couple that was sitting across the way from you have paid for your meal.” And they got up and quietly left. Folks, that touched me so deeply. We couldn't get out of the restaurant quick enough to see if we could find them. They were gone; they didn't want their reward from us. They were just doing what they believed God wanted them to do.Today, don't be so concerned about getting your reward here on earth, but be more concerned about obedience to God and the Lord is going to reward you on the great day when you meet Him in Heaven.Jesus bless you and goodbye.

Today's MOM 101 tip... "It's not all about YOU!" Identity is the topic we are talking about this month and hearing my guest Hannah Conway remind us, it's not all about us is a reminder of what we need to be teaching our children. In Mathew 5 Jesus teaches an "upside down" view of who we are to be and how we are to serve others. Our happiness should not dictate our identity and our identity does not define our happiness. We are who HE says we are. Connect with Courtney: Website~Instagram~Facebook

Amen. TODAY'S AFFIRMATION: Today, because I am filled with the Holy Spirit, I will not be controlled by my Anxiety. Rather, I will walk in the Spirit's fruit of Peace. TODAY'S AFFIRMATION: Today, I affirm that, because I am in Jesus Christ, Nothing compares with knowing Jesus, (Philippians 3:7f). “I can do everything through Him who gives me strength.”. In Mathew 12:46-50, we see that when Jesus is told that His mother and brothers wished to speak with Him, He replied "Who is my mother, and who are my brothers?" before stating "whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother." What did Christ mean by this, and what impact does it have on how we rightly understand the family of Christ? Listen as Pastor Caleb expounds on this text and reveals what it means to value Christ far above all other relationships. Today, I'm joined by Mathew Gabriel Gonzales (aka Philthy Dronez), musician and music producer, to explore the roots behind his signature West Coast Cumbia sound. As an Eastside San Jose native, Mathew draws inspiration from the hip hop, funk, and cumbia rhythms he grew up around in his vibrant neighborhood. In Mathew's words, music doesn't have borders, which is why he celebrates the multicultural melting pot of Eastside San Jose. In our conversation, Mathew gives an overview of the history of cumbia and why it's had such a major impact on his life. He describes the throughlines of the genres he mixes, namely how they've all emerged from collective oppression. Between the flashy lowriders, steaming bowls of pho, and lively music streaming from every direction, outsiders might write Eastside San Jose off as ‘rowdy' or ‘disorderly.' But to Mathew, that's what makes the city so beautiful and what he hopes to portray in his innovative music. He shares his plans to travel through Europe this year and show people around the world what West Coast Cumbia is all about. Ordained minister, Dennis Hall and his guest Pastor George Whirley, New Creation Restoration Church and Prison Ministry, Indianapolis, Indiana, discuss the recent beating of an Afro-American man in Memphis by a group of Afro-American police officers who have now been charged with murder. They recount some of the murderers mentioned in Scripture and how these murders seem to be motivated by greed, power, sex, revenge, and hate reasons. In Mathew 5 Jesus warns against murder and even says those who are filled with anger will be judged. Examples of indiscriminate killing of civilians in war zones were reviewed with the suggestion that society has placed our contemporary police offices in a war zone atmosphere. If society wants to prevent future incidents of police brutality, an investment in an adequate number of chaplains on police forces must be made. The dignity of our neighbors will only be recognized when God is in the life of a community and police force.
I love you. TODAY'S PRAYER: Surely it is God who saves me. I will trust in Him and not be afraid. For the Lord is my stronghold and my defense, and He is my savior. Therefore, you shall draw water with rejoicing from the springs of salvation. And on that day, you shall say, “Give thanks to the Lord and call upon His Name; make His deeds known among the peoples; see that they remember that His Name is exalted.”. Amen. TODAY'S AFFIRMATION: Today, because I am filled with the Holy Spirit, I will not be controlled by my Anxiety. Rather, I will walk in the Spirit's fruit of Peace. “The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.” (Galatians 5:22f). In Mathew 28:18-20, Jesus tells us to “go and make disciples,” but what does discipleship even entail? This week, Pastor Seth Swindall sits down with Pastors Brian Jobe and Angela Ekstrum to explore this idea. It's not just a simple journey with a single finish line. Discipleship is constantly moving towards God, growing closer to others, and facing ourselves along the way.
November 06, 2022 - Sunday PM Sermon "Following Jesus" by Jim Humphrey Tonight, Jim provides a devotional on what it means to follow Jesus. He discusses actions that we need to be doing. In Mathew 4, the fishermen: Peter, Andrew, James and John, left their nets and follow Jesus. This is analogous to what we should do. We should stop doing anything that is not on the path of righteousness. We should seek and love the lost. We should continually reflect on our actions and ensure that we are following Jesus with all of our efforts. Sometimes this will not be easy and may make you uncomfortable. But being there for someone in need and bringing someone back to God is what is important. Duration 29:31

Today's Political and Religious Climates Harden Hearts of Many “Believers” Who Turn Away from God - Jesus Followers Are to Help Those with Hardening Hearts MESSAGE SUMMARY: No matter the hardness of a person's heart, who has walked away from God, they will respond to your initiatives that are based on your love and trust. Living creatures thirst for water. Thirst is the kind of feeling that makes one unsettled until water is found to quench it. As humans, we also experience spiritual thirst—the kind of thirst God alone can satisfy. In Psalm 42, the psalmist compares his longing and thirst for God to that of a deer for water. When a deer has an overwhelming longing for water, it can't settle till it finds it. In a similar way, the psalmist had such longing for fellowship with God that he could not find rest elsewhere. He realized the only true and living God was the God of his life (verse 8). His innermost self desired God more than anything in this world. And he desired to live a righteous life before God. Like this psalmist, we are living in a world full of sin, where we are surrounded by evil and evildoers. When we long for God, for His holiness and righteousness, we are longing for Him to make things right and whole, to bring justice and restore this broken world. In Mathew 5:6, Jesus said, “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.” Jesus will satisfy them Himself because He is the source of living water (John 4:13-14; 7:37-39). He alone is the source of life and the Savior of the world. As we get to know Jesus, we long for more and more of God, to worship Him and be near Him. He is the giver of living waters, and He will quench our thirst and give us full satisfaction in our souls. Let us desire more and more of God. • Enid Adah Nyinomujuni • Have you ever felt a longing for God? Maybe you felt a desire to be closer to Him. Maybe you ached for some part of creation to be brought under His good reign. The wonderful news is God longs for these things too! And He invites us to come to Him and ask. • God has provided the way for us to know Him through Jesus's death and resurrection. According to John 7:37-39, how does Jesus give us living water? Like newborn infants, desire the pure milk of the word, so that by it you may grow up into your salvation. 1 Peter 2:2 (CSB)
Friends of the Rosary: Forgiving one another from the heart is not easy. Jesus Christ forgives us our sins, but we don't easily forgive, as we are instructed to do in the third Luminous Mystery that we pray today. We tend to argue that the sins of some people close to us are unforgivable, because by forgiving, we would send a wrong message and the evilness of that person would continue. Well, our human logic is not the divine thinking. My ways are not your ways, says the Father to us. In Mathew 18:21, Peter asks Jesus, "Lord, how often will my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? As many as seven times?" Jesus said to him, "I do not say to you seven times, but seventy-seven times." Let's fully embrace the mystery of forgiveness, simply because the Divinity designed it this way for our goodness and eternal salvation. Ave Maria! TODAY'S PRAYER: Surely it is God who saves me. I will trust in Him and not be afraid. For the Lord is my stronghold and my defense, and He is my savior. Therefore, you shall draw water with rejoicing from the springs of salvation. And on that day, you shall say, “Give thanks to the Lord and call upon His Name; make His deeds known among the peoples; see that they remember that His Name is exalted.”. Amen. TODAY'S AFFIRMATION: Today, because of I am filled with the Holy Spirit, I will not be controlled by my Self-Centeredness. Rather, I will walk in the Spirit's fruit of Love. “The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.” (Galatians 5:22f). Today's Political and Religious Climates Harden Hearts of Many “Believers” Who Turn Away from God - Jesus Followers Are to Can Help Those with Hardening Hearts MESSAGE SUMMARY: No matter the hardness of a person's heart, who has walked away from God, they will respond to your initiatives that are based on your love and trust. TODAY'S AFFIRMATION: Today, I affirm that, because I am in Jesus Christ, I will rejoice in Him. (Philippians 4:4). “I can do everything through Him who gives me strength.”. (Philippians 4:14).
