Nick and Jake catch up with all the latest injury news, including absences of Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl for the Edmonton Oilers and upcoming return of Sean Monahan for the Columbus Blue Jackets, and schedule info to get you ready for this fantasy playoff week. Pete Jensen joins for his top pickups, including hidden gems like Zack Bolduc, Matt Coronato, Joel Hofer and Simon Holmstrom, and the guys answer questions on whether to hold Adam Fantilli and/or Kirill Marchenko now that Monahan is back. Then, in "On the Money," presented by Bet365, Chris Meaney gives his favorite prop angles, thoughts on Connor Hellebuyck now being the Hart Trophy favorite and more. The guys give their picks and parlay ideas for upcoming games this week.
On this weeks episode, Nick & Corey discuss the Leafs recent struggles, take a look ahead at the next five games (COL, NYR, NASH, PHI, SJ), chat about the possible playoff starter in net, fancy a guess where the Leafs finish in the Atlantic, and make picks of who the wildcard teams will be.They also give grades to the Trade Deadline acquisitions. Spoiler alert- one gets top marks, the other does not.
Afternoon Drive talks about whether or not this recent Cavaliers losing streak will help them in the playoffs and if it alleviates some pressure on them for the rest of the year.
The Rangers have begun the final stretch of the regular season with the goal of making the playoffs. Plus, Adam Fox is returning from injury, and Jonathan Quick signed an extension.
Aaron Ekblad has been suspended 20 games for violating performance-enhancing substance rules, admitting he took something for injury recovery without consulting the Panthers' medical staff. The suspension means he'll miss Florida’s first two playoff games. Meanwhile, Brad Marchand met the media in full Panthers gear—something that still looks strange after his long career in Boston. He’s about a week or two away from returning from injury. In Ottawa, a revitalized Dylan Cozens is making an impact with his new team, scoring a game-winner against Detroit. The Columbus Blue Jackets, overcoming early-season tragedy, are writing an incredible story by pushing for the playoffs behind a high-scoring offence, though goaltending remains a concern. The Oilers’ inconsistency was on display in a loss to Buffalo, as their play lacks the spark needed to separate from opponents. In Toronto, Mitch Marner’s shootout winner helped the Leafs stay in the division race, but his contract situation remains a cloud over the team. Marner refused to waive his no-trade clause at the deadline, and his camp seems intent on testing free agency, which could backfire. Then in Ask Ray & Dregs Anything, would Ray want to be an NHL GM at the trade deadline, the impact of major roster changes on chemistry, and the value of playing an entire career with one team.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The USC Triple-Double Podcast -- the Peristyle Podcast's basketball-focused podcast -- returns with co-hosts Shotgun Spratling and Connor Morrissette (aka Mr. Triple Double) breaking down the latest USC hoops action as both the men's and women's teams went 1-1 in the last week with the results featuring a pair of top 10 upsets. The USC men recorded the biggest win of the Eric Musselman era last weekend when the Trojans beat No. 7 Michigan State at home 70-64. Point guard Desmond Claude injured his knee, was sent to the locker room and sat out six minutes, but managed to return to the game and scored a team-high 19 points. Claude did however miss USC's next contest due to what is being called a bone bruise, and the Trojans fell 77-75 in dramatic fashion on the road to Northwestern. USC had stormed back from 15 down only toe give up the game-winning basket in the final seconds. The Women of Troy lost their first conference game of the season on the road at Iowa, 76-69, last weekend. USC got off to an awful start to trail 18-1, but battled back to take a lead into halftime. Lindsay Gottlieb's team struggled in the fourth quarter though, particularly on defense allowing Iowa to score 25 points in the final frame. The Women of Troy bounced back to beat Wisconsin on the road 86-64 Wednesday night. USC men's basketball senior forward Rashaun Agee also joins the showto talk about returning to his home state of Illinois to play Northwestern. He also discussed Musselman's coaching style, what the Big Ten road trips have been like for USC and much more. Agee has been playing his best basketball of the season lately averaging 12 points per game in USC's last seven contests. Shotgun and Connor then look at where both Trojan teams stand and forward at the upcoming matchups where another pair of top 10 matchups loom this weekend. The men finish up their road trip with at trip to West Lafayette to take on No. 2 Purdue Friday while the USC women return home to take on No. 8 Ohio State in the Galen Center Saturday. Ep. 822 - So, how do the Cardinals play coming out of the bye week? That's been the question all week considering how well the team was playing going into the bye week. Craig Grialou and Zach Gershman explain why they believe there will be no drop-off on Sunday in Seattle. It helps, the guys think, that it's a division game and a game with major implications in the standings. With weather potentially being a factor – rain is in the forecast, though even if it wasn't – running back James Conner is expected to play a key role in the matchup. He's got good numbers against the Seahawks, and the Seahawks have struggled against the run; that other topics are brought up when Craig and Zach speak with John Boyle, senior reporter for Seahawks.com. He joins the show to help preview the Week 12 matchup.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Can the team fix its weaknesses in the final months? Join the BWI Live Show to discuss that, recruiting, and much more! Penn State Football experts Sean Fitz and Nate Bauer sit down for an hour to discuss the latest in football, recruiting, and your questions. We'll be opening up the BWI Mailbag to end the show, so get your questions into the live chat during the show!Penn State vs. Washington review We'll start the show by recapping the game between Penn State and Washington on Saturday and discuss how the team got out to such a hot start on offense and what they did to consistently score touchdowns. Was that the most complete half of football that the team has played? We'll discuss. Fitz's Recruiting UpdateNext, we'll discuss what happened off the field for the Penn State Football team. The program picked up two commitments on Saturday and Sunday. First, four-star offensive lineman Layton von Brandt committed to the Nittany Lions. Fitz will discuss the impact of an offensive line commit two years out from his signing day. Four-star defensive end Chaz Coleman followed on Sunday night. Check out our breakdown of that commitment from Monday. Fitz will follow up with his thoughts on Coleman's impact. Finally, we'll review the team's other White Out recruiting news to end the segment. Between The LinesPenn State head coach James Franklin spoke with the media on Monday to kick off the team's final road game stretch, starting with Purdue this coming weekend. As is the case when facing a 1-8 team, very few of the questions and answers were about the Boilermakers. Today, we'll focus on the things Franklin said about redshirts, facilities and Hakeem BeamonOn how the team handles redshirts in the final three games:"The way we look at the green/yellow/red. Green, you're trying to burn. Yellow, you're trying to hold the redshirt if you can. And red is a guy that's most likely going to redshirt. And all those things can changed based on injury. What I'm saying is we manage this that we now should be at this stage, a lot of these guys be able to play and still be able to keep their redshirt."Penn State Facilities Well, what I will say is, number one, I'm appreciative of all the work that's gone in over our 11 years. One of the things I'd like to show you guys at some point is we've taken before-and-after pictures of everything, and I think back all the way to standing on that turf practice field and my back was up against the fence and you guys were asking me questions -- a lot of the same people in the room were asking me questions about facilities. And that was a battle when I first got here.Beamon"He's no longer a part of the program. I love Hakeem. Love his mom. It's been probably over seven years from the high school recruiting process and ups and downs and twists and turns and smiles and tears and everything in between. Graduating from Penn State, we're very, very proud of that for him and did a bunch of good things on the field. But he's no longer a part of the team."BWI MailbagFinally, we'll end the show with questions from viewers and members of the Blue White Illustrated message board.
