38 people listened to a podcast I stopped publishing 19 months ago. Yesterday. And over 200 people have pressed play on it in the last three months. I have not posted about it, promoted it, or thought about it since October of 2024, and the numbers from my analytics last week genuinely shocked me. If that is happening on a dormant podcast my friend, what do you think is happening on your active show's older episodes that you stopped looking at six months ago? This episode is for the podcaster who has a back catalog of episodes they forgot about months ago because they have been heads down on what comes next. I'm walking you through the four ways strangers are finding your older episodes right now, the two ways those episodes can be working for you, what I found when I audited the very first episode of my own podcast, and the exact move to make this week to find out what your back catalog is really doing in the background. In This Episode You'll Learn:The shocking number of listens a dormant podcast can still pull in (and what it actually proves about every active podcaster's back catalog)Why your podcast is one of the only marketing channels where a piece of content from two years ago competes for a listener's click at the same level as what you published this morningThe four ways strangers are finding your older podcast episodes right now whether you are paying attention to your back catalog or notThe two ways every single one of your old podcast episodes is working right now (and why there is no third option)What I found when I audited episode one of my own podcast (and why I was the most embarrassed person in the room about it)The exact analytics move to make this week before you touch a single episode in your back catalogWant to know exactly where your podcast is losing clients? If you want to get ahead in your business, it's time to stop being the technician and start stepping into the manager, and visionary roles. Our host, Diane Rolston, references one of the most important business books she's ever read E-Myth Revisited. She explains something so many business owners experience but don't have the language for and why most women are stuck over-functioning in exactly the wrong role.Listen to learn these key takeaways:Why going out on your own means you didn't just become the technician. You became every other role in the company too, whether you wanted to or notThe three key roles from E-Myth Revisited: what each one is responsible for and the critical question each role is constantly askingWhy most entrepreneurs skip one of these three roles completely and why that's exactly why things feel chaoticThe dangerous comfort zone most women over-function in: why it feels productive but is quietly keeping the business stuckWhat happens when your head is down doing the work all day and the two perspectives you completely lose access toWhy the manager and visionary roles keep getting neglected and what the real cost of that neglect is to your businessWhere a Virtual Assistant fits into all three roles: not just taking tasks off your plate, but actually strengthening a specific role you've been neglectingHow support becomes truly transformational when it frees you to operate as the visionary and when businesses actually start to scaleThe honest reminder: the goal isn't to stop being the technician entirely (you're good at it for a reason)One final question to ask yourself right now about which role actually needs more of your attention firstComing up next: why smart, capable women struggle so much to delegate in the first place and why it's almost never about skill.Free resources to get started with your own virtual assistant: "Top 10 Questions to Ask a VA Company When You Want to Hire a VA" by Diane Rolston: https://app.groove.cm/groovemember/download/xylsp51fbe3b909e70d43d635f85fa3f115b5229 Tasks You Can Delegate: https://keap.page/mw315/229-tasks-you-can-delegate1.html5 Problems in Delegating: https://bit.ly/5ProblemsofDelegatingYour Virtual Assistant Readiness Scorecard: https://www.dianerolston.com/blog/still-doing-it-all-yourself-your-virtual-assistant-readiness-scorecardBook a time to chat with Diane directly to get your own vetted Dynamic VA: https://www.dianerolston.com/booking.htmlWant to be invited to join Diane's NEW high-level, like-minded group of women? In this inspiring episode of Quietly Visible, host Carol Stewart is joined by Shelley-Ann Pieterse, Executive Alignment Coach and former Managing Director at Accenture, to explore what happens when ambition, perfectionism, and the need for validation collide with authenticity and wellbeing.Drawing on her own experience of navigating leadership as an introverted woman from a previously disadvantaged background, Shelley-Ann shares the challenges of trying to fit into environments where she felt different—and the personal cost of constantly striving to prove herself.Together, Carol and Shelley-Ann discuss the pressures many high-achieving women place on themselves, the impact of burnout, and why sustainable success starts with self-awareness and alignment. Shelley-Ann candidly reflects on her journey through multiple episodes of burnout, the loss of her partner, and the powerful realisation that success means little when it comes at the expense of your health, values, and happiness.
Send us Fan MailThis week on Mondays Down Under, Lee, Shane, and Nick sit down with Lee from AIS Water for a fascinating deep dive into the world of saltwater chlorination, chlorinator cells, and the rare-earth metal quietly impacting pool owners across the globe: ruthenium.AIS Water has spent more than three decades focused exclusively on saltwater chlorination, manufacturing everything from residential chlorinators to massive commercial systems used around the world. Lee shares insights from both the Australian and international markets while explaining why chlorinator replacement cells have become significantly more expensive in recent years. The conversation explores how ruthenium—a critical component used in chlorinator cell coatings—has skyrocketed in price due to global supply constraints, geopolitical instability, increased demand from electronics and AI data centers, and reduced mining output. What once cost around $400 USD per ounce now costs more than $1,600 USD per ounce, creating major challenges for manufacturers and consumers alike. The team discusses:Why ruthenium is essential for modern reverse-polarity chlorinator cellsWhether alternative materials could eventually replace rutheniumThe real reasons some chlorinator cells last 10+ years while others struggle to survive warranty periodsHow manufacturers balance quality, longevity, and rising production costsWhy reverse-polarity technology changed the industry foreverThe differences between older mesh-style cells and modern flat-plate designsHow coating consistency impacts chlorine production and cell lifespanWhy AIS continues to prioritize long-term durability over lower-cost shortcutsThe discussion also ventures into water chemistry and operating conditions that dramatically affect chlorinator performance and longevity. Lee explains how low salt levels, improper testing methods, reverse-polarity frequency, phosphates, water temperature, and flow rates can all influence chlorine production and shorten cell life.Listeners will learn:Why running low salt levels can reduce cell life by thousands of hoursThe difference between chloride testing and conductivity-based salt readingsWhy TDS and actual salt levels are not the same thingHow cold water impacts chlorine generationBest practices for winter chlorinator operationWhy some chlorinators produce exactly what their labels claim while others may notThe importance of understanding chlorinator output ratings and testing standardsThe episode also touches on emerging wellness trends, including cold plunges and hot-cold therapy pools, and the unique challenges these environments create for saltwater chlorination systems.Whether you're a service technician, retailer, builder, or simply someone who wants to better understand what is happening inside a saltwater chlorinator, this episode offers a rare behind-the-scenes look at the science, engineering, and economics driving one of the most important pieces of equipment in modern swimming pools.Got questions about saltwater chlorination, chlorinator cells, phosphates, magnesium chloride, or pool chemistry? Let us know and we may bring Lee back for a future episode.Talking Pools Podcast – Mondays Down UnderBecause sometimes the most important thing in your pool isn't what you can see—it's what is happening on a microscopic layer of ruthenium-coated titanium.#SwimmingPools #PoolService #SaltWaterPools #PoolIndustry #PoolChemistry #TalkingPoolsPodcast #AISWater #PoolProfessionals Support the showThank you so much for listening! What if growth didn't have to come through pain? Most people wait until life forces them to change—through stress, burnout, or something breaking. But what if you could choose growth… before it chooses you?In this episode, recorded from Istanbul, Justin breaks down why growth is the second most important value for 2026—and how to move from forced, painful evolution into something far more intentional, joyful, and aligned.Key TakeawaysGrowth is happening whether you like it or notThe real question isn't if you grow—it's how.Pain isn't the goal—it's a signalYou don't need to suffer your way forward. That's conditioning, not truth. You can choose your growth pathEnvironments, people, and experiences all shape how you evolve. Most people grow unconsciouslyRepeating patterns, staying stuck, or waiting for life to “force” change.Joy, ease, and curiosity are valid growth strategiesYou're allowed to grow through what feels good—not just what feels hard.Your beliefs, habits, and identity are not fixedGrowth means questioning what you've been blindly repeating.Next Steps…Ask yourself: Where am I growing… and is it how I actually want to grow?Share this episode with someone who's ready for a different way forwardFollow and subscribe so you don't miss the final values in this seriesWork With JustinIf you're ready to grow in a way that actually feels aligned:
A recent report highlighted a surprising trend: individuals using GLP-1 medications such as Ozempic and Wegovy may be facing even more social stigma than those who remain overweight. And while neither deserves any stigma at all, it raises an important question about how we judge health choices in modern medicine. In this conversation, Dr. Bret Scher reflects on whether his own critiques of GLP-1 medications stem from bias against the individuals using them. His conclusion is clear: the issue is not the patient, but the system surrounding care. While GLP-1 receptor agonists can be powerful tools for weight loss and metabolic improvement, Dr. Scher emphasizes a deeper concern: the growing tendency toward a “drug-first” model that may overlook foundational lifestyle and metabolic interventions such as nutrition quality, protein intake, resistance training, and long-term behavior change.Key themes discussed:The stigma patients face regardless of whether they lose weight or notThe difference between criticizing a treatment and blaming the patientConcerns about overprescribing without adequate lifestyle supportWhat happens when medications are stopped (and weight is regained)The importance of metabolic health beyond the scaleThis conversation also highlights the complexity of long-term care. While some individuals may benefit significantly from GLP-1 medications, sustainable metabolic health ideally integrates medical tools with lifestyle-based strategies that support long-term resilience.

The crew opens with something Indiana fans haven't had in a while during May: actual basketball stuff to look forward to. Between the Peru trip, summer practices, and a roster that finally looks balanced on paper, there's a real sense of momentum around the program. Why the Peru trip could end up being way more important than just “extra games”The hidden value of IU adding “practice body” depth pieces late in the portal cycleHow Darian DeVries may have quietly overachieved in the transfer portalWhy this roster feels fundamentally different from some recent IU teamsThe discussion turns into a surprisingly optimistic conversation about fit, shooting, and actual roster constructionThere's also some fun reflection on the current state of IU athletics overall — from football momentum to the feeling that Indiana is finally showing up in national conversations for positive reasons again. And yes… the guys briefly spiral into memories of the 1992 Final Four loss to Duke, because some wounds apparently never heal.Segment 2: The Big Ten Schedule Is Out… and IU Might've Actually Caught a BreakThe conference opponents are officially set, and the panel wastes no time dissecting what's good, what's dangerous, and what could become sneaky problem spots.A few major themes emerge quickly:Not having to visit Illinois, Michigan, and Michigan State feels enormousWhy this schedule may set up well for a first-year roster still learning how to play togetherThe road games everyone says are “winnable”… but somehow never feel comfortableAn unfortunate amount of skepticism about beating Northwestern despite their roster turnoverWisconsin in Madison somehow turns into its own emotional subplotThe conversation eventually drifts into way-too-early Big Ten record predictions, and suddenly the panel is casually throwing around numbers that would represent Indiana's best conference season in years. Some restraint is attempted. It does not last long.Segment 3: NCAA Tournament Expansion, College Basketball Chaos, and Coach Wants Golf PartnersThe final segment tackles the looming NCAA Tournament expansion debate, and the conversation gets surprisingly thoughtful about what the tournament should actually represent.Topics include:Why expanding the field feels inevitable whether fans like it or notThe biggest issue with the current “First Four” setupA genuinely interesting idea for helping mid-major teams and preserving tournament magicWhy the NCAA still doesn't know how to properly treat smaller schools that earn tournament bidsThe guys accidentally workshop better tournament formats than the NCAA itselfAnd in true offseason fashion, the episode closes with:Indy 500 talksummer basketball planspodcast updatesretirement excitementand Coach Tonsoni openly recruiting Assembly Call listeners to play golf with him around IndianaWhich honestly feels exactly right for a mid-May IU basketball show.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
What happens when your affiliate publisher is a sleep-deprived new mum with 45,000 verified users, a Dragon's Den deal, and strong opinions about how brands treat people? You listen.Olivia Davson is the co-founder of Cubbi, the UK's first discount platform built specifically for verified new and expecting parents. She launched it eight weeks after having her first child, built the first version of the app with her sister who had zero coding experience, onboarded over 30 brands before launch, and pitched her business live on BBC's Dragon's Den at nine months pregnant. She walked out with a 50,000 pound investment. In this episode, Lee-Ann talks with Olivia about what it actually feels like to enter the affiliate industry as a new publisher, why most affiliate managers missed the opportunity she represented early on, and what brands who did show up early gained because of it. The conversation covers the mechanics of Cubbi's verification model, why the parent demographic is unlike any other in consumer marketing, and what the affiliate channel still gets wrong about the publisher relationship.Talking Points Include:What Cubbi actually is and why the parent lifecycle is a marketer's playbook in a way that student discount platforms are notThe outreach reality nobody talks about: Olivia contacted a thousand brands before launch. Around thirty said yes. What those thirty did differently that made them irreplaceable partnersHow Dragon's Den changed everything overnight, from word-of-mouth pockets across the UK to a nationwide spike in downloads and credibility that no paid campaign could have boughtWhy Olivia screens every inbound brand enquiry personally and the red lines that will get a brand turned away regardless of budgetListen to Find Out More About:The exact moment Olivia decided Cubbi needed to exist, standing at a coffee shop counter on maternity pay and doing the mental arithmeticWhat brands Olivia singles out as genuinely getting the parent audience right, and what they are doing that others are notHow Matthew from Cashblack supported Olivia at the moment she was closest to walking away, and why that kind of peer support matters more than people admitThe expansion plan for Cubbi, what comes after nailing the UK, and which markets are already asking when they are nextWhy not everyone needs to understand what you are building, and how that mindset shift changes how you show up as a founderWhat the Dragon's Den investment from Susie Ma has meant practically for the business beyond the headline numberKey Segments of This Podcast and Where You Can Tune In to Go Direct:[07:25] The scrappy startup reality: a thousand outreach messages, thirty brand partners, and what the ones who said yes understood that the others missed[13:00] How Cubbi verifies users, why the verification model matters to brands, and the difference between targeted reach and spray-and-pray traffic[15:37] Dragon's Den: why Olivia went on the show at nine months pregnant, what happened when the episode aired, and what a nationwide audience spike looks like on a growth map[19:00] What the industry gets wrong about new publishers and why the affiliate channel is more transactional than it needs to beCall to ActionA big thank you to Olivia for sharing her story so openly. Show NotesWhen a therapist posted about the "engagement asymmetry" in estrangement content - noting that posts about what parents did wrong go viral while content about adult children's responsibility goes quiet - it sparked a conversation worth having carefully. In this episode of The Estranged Heart podcast, Kreed unpacks why that asymmetry exists, what it's actually telling us, and why the "both sides" framing, however well-intentioned, can quietly close the very doors we're hoping to open. This is an episode about developmental power, the sequence of healing, and what it actually means to lead with love when leading feels like the hardest thing you've ever been asked to do.Key TopicsWhy estrangement content that names the adult child's experience spreads and what that hunger is really telling usThe difference between both/and thinking and the symmetry trapDevelopmental power: what a parent holds that a peer does notThe distinct types of estrangement and why treating them as one category does real harmEcho chambers on both sides: what happens when pain finds community but not growthThe sequence of healing and why it almost always needs to start with the parentWhat "leading with love" actually looks like and why it isn't surrenderWhat every reconciliation Kreed has witnessed has had in commonTime stamps00:00 — Introduction and Context of Estrangement02:48 — The Asymmetry of Engagement in Estrangement Discussions06:09 — Understanding Responsibility in Parent-Child Relationships08:55 — Different Types of Estrangement11:59 — The Echo Chamber Effect in Estrangement Narratives14:47 — The Role of Parents in Healing and Reconciliation17:58 — Final Thoughts on Healing and LoveResourcesFacebook Support Group (facilitated by Kreed) https://www.facebook.com/groups/estrangedmotherssupportgroupOne-on-One ServicesPrivate coachingConsultingMediation servicesWebsite: theestrangedheart.comEmail: hello@theestrangedheart.comSupport the work: Buy Me a Coffee (donation based) https://buymeacoffee.com/kreedrevereDisclaimer: Kreed Revere is not a licensed therapist. Most senior leaders who avoid the informal conversations — the individual check-ins, the quiet conversations before a decision needs to be made— aren't doing it because they're lazy or disorganised. They're doing it because it doesn't feel right. It feels like politics. Like pre-managing the outcome. Like their work should be strong enough to stand on its own.And that instinct, as understandable as it is, is quietly costing them.In this episode, Karen looks at what happens when strong work meets an audience that wasn't brought along and why the leaders who build the most genuine influence are also the most deliberate about their relationships. In this episode:Why a concern raised in private stays manageable — and the same concern raised in public becomes a positionHow your peers are forming a read on you, whether you're actively shaping it or notThe difference between being politically aware and compromising your integrityOne reframe and two practical things to do before your next significant askIf you've ever walked out of a meeting wondering what happened — this episode is worth your time.Next steps:Follow Karen on Substack where she writes about power, politics and influence: https://karengombault.substack.com/Connect with Karen on Linkedin: Karen Gombault | LinkedIn

What if grief could be metabolized — not just managed? Most of us have been told to process grief through talking, reading, and time. And those things help. But what if there's a layer of grief stored in your body that talk therapy simply can't reach? What if the density of your pain is the very thing blocking you from feeling the spiritual connection you're desperate for? That's exactly what today's guest has spent years helping people discover.Kayse Gehret is the founder of Microdosing for Healing, a global community spanning more than 30 countries, and the creator of the first professional microdosing facilitator training program. With nearly three decades in holistic wellness, Kayse has guided thousands of people — including many who have lost children — through psilocybin microdosing practices that go where other healing modalities can't.In this conversation, Kayse shares her own story: how she lost her father at age seven, developed a grand mal seizure disorder in her teens, and how microdosing not only stopped her seizures but opened a spiritual connection she couldn't reach any other way. She also breaks down exactly what microdosing is, who it's for, and how to know if you're ready. In this episode we explore:The difference between microdosing and a full psychedelic journey — and why that distinction matters for people who are fearfulHow psilocybin metabolizes grief stored in the body, releasing layers even years of therapy couldn't touchWhy grief and fear are the two biggest blocks to spiritual connection with our loved onesThe role of community, guides, and intention in making microdosing truly effectiveWhat to expect in the first weeks — from heightened senses to vivid dreams to unexpected signs from those who have passedHow to know if you're emotionally ready — and what to do first if you're notThe sacred 3–5am window and why loved ones so often come through during those hoursConnect with Kayse Gehret:Website: Visit the Grief 2 Growth store for FREE items as well as other tools to help you along your journey:Guided MeditationsMy book GEMS of Healing (signed copy)My Oracle deck to help you connect with your loved onesMini-coursesMini-guidesCheck it out at https://grief2growth.com/store Grief doesn't follow stages, timelines, or rules. If you've ever wondered, “Am I doing this right?”—you're not alone. That's why I created the Grief Check-In. What if the story making you feel stuck isn't wrong — it's just incomplete?War, inflation, outrage and doomscrolling. This week Michele shares one of her favorite coaching tools — a single question that interrupts that tunnel vision and opens up what you couldn't see before. In this episode:Why rumination narrows attention — and what the science says about breaking that loopHow unsupportive partners, friends, and dinner tables feel like the whole story — and why they're notThe "I can't afford it" story, and what you're probably not noticing inside itWhy this is NOT positive thinking, denial, or pretending things are fineThe doomscrolling trap: how to stop handing your nervous system to the headlinesA simple 4-step practice you can use anywhere, anytimeThe question at the center of it all:What am I not noticing that is not that? The 4-step practice:Name the "that" — what story are you treating as the whole truth?Notice how it shows up — sentence, image, pressure, knot, voice?Soften your eyes — widen your gaze and take in the roomAsk the question — then find one "not-that" move you can make nextResources mentioned:Research on rumination and attentional narrowing: https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC3773498/Open-monitoring mindfulness research: https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC5195874/Subscribe & Review:If you enjoyed this episode, please subscribe and leave a review on your favorite podcast platform. We've reached the midpoint of the season—and instead of pushing forward, this episode invites you to do something different.Pause.In a profession that rewards speed, productivity, and constant movement, it can feel counter-cultural to slow down. But without pausing to process, we risk moving quickly in the wrong direction. In this episode, I explore the power of reflection as a leadership move—and why pausing is not falling behind, but realigning with purpose.Inspired by Nova Sole's song Soft but Solid, this conversation centers the balance we need as educators:To be soft—open, reflective, and responsive. And solid—grounded in our purpose and committed to equity.Because you cannot pivot powerfully if you haven't processed where you are.In This Episode, We Explore:Why speed in education can create a “blur” that hides important patternsThe difference between reacting and responding in instructional decisionsHow pausing allows you to see what's working—and what's notThe connection between reflection and purposeful pivotsWhat it means to be both soft and solid in your practiceKey TakeawaysPause is not stopping. It's re-calibration.Slowing down allows you to see clearly and move with intention.Movement without reflection can lead you in the wrong direction.Being busy does not always mean being aligned.A powerful pivot requires processing.Without reflection, change becomes reactive instead of purposeful.Soft but Solid is the balance.Stay open to reflection while remaining grounded in your “why.”Mid-Season ReflectionTake a moment to pause and consider:What have I learned about my students so far? What patterns am I noticing in my classroom culture? What has shifted in how I think about belonging, instruction, and equity? What feels aligned? What feels off?Coaching CornerAs you reflect, return to these Instructional Anchor Questions:Reflection on SelfWhat has my instruction taught me about my students' brilliance in the last 30 days?Reflection on PeersHow is the current “vibe” of the room influencing how students see and support one another?Reflection on the WorldDoes our current direction align with preparing students to navigate and change the world?Using the AAA Reflection FrameworkAwarenessWhat patterns do I notice when I slow down and reflect?Acceptance or RejectionAm I willing to face the current direction honestly—even if it's not what I intended?ActionWhat is one purposeful pivot I need to make? Implementation IntentionTurn reflection into action:This week, I will ______ at ______ for ______ in ______.Examples:TeacherThis week, I will spend 10 minutes on Friday reflecting on one moment where student engagement shifted.CoachThis week, I will ask one teacher what they would pivot if they had full permission to do so.LeaderThis week, I will observe hallway transitions to reflect on whether our school culture aligns with our mission.
Why do you care so much about what other people think? In this episode of Men Talking Mindfulness, hosts Jon Macaskill and Will Schneider sit down with Army veteran, mental performance coach, and Skull Sessions podcast host Andy Riise to dismantle the most quietly destructive pattern in men's lives — the approval trap. There's a name for what's running in the background of your decisions, and it isn't a character flaw. It's biology. It's called Fear of Negative Evaluation, and it's one of the most studied psychological patterns in clinical research. The guys break down why your brain literally cannot tell the difference between social rejection and physical pain, why the audience judging you is half the size you think, and how approval seeking shows up in ways most men never connect to the root cause — over-committing at work, constant reassurance seeking in relationships, buying your kids' affection, and still chasing approval from people who haven't been in your life for decades. Understanding it is the first step to breaking free.In this episode, you'll learn:What Fear of Negative Evaluation is and why every man is dealing with it whether he knows it or notThe spotlight effect and the Cornell research that proves you're performing for half the audience you thinkHow approval seeking silently destroys your career, your relationships, and your sense of selfWhat "ghosts" are — and how to identify whose voice is still running in your headWhy it's not about not caring — it's about choosing deliberately what deserves your carePractical tools you can use this week to start breaking free from the approval trapFollow Andy:Website: https://andyriise.comTEDx Talk: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FbNLu7JcZNAPodcast: https://www.skullsessionspodcast.comLinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/andyriiseIf you've ever held back in a meeting, softened your opinion to keep the peace, or made a decision based on what someone else might think — this conversation will change the way you see yourself and the way you move through the world.Focus Now Training - helping leaders and teams build focus, resilience, and emotional control. In this episode of Conceptually Speaking, I sit down with Dr. Jeffrey Lawrence, professor of 20th and 21st century American and Latin American literature at Rutgers University and author of Anxieties of Experience: The Literatures of the Americas from Whitman to Bolaño and the Spanish-language novel El Americano. Like me, Jeffrey has found himself intrigued by recent developments on Substack, where a growing literary scene is raising questions, debating issues, and engaging in conversations that don't fit neatly into traditional academic venues. Our dialogue moves between the institutional structures that shape literary studies, the surprising public appetite for serious engagement with the humanities online, and what it might mean for secondary English education to reconnect with its disciplinary roots.Key Concepts:Public HumanitiesThe distinction between community-engaged public humanities and public-facing writing that still operates through prestige networksWhat it means to invite people into a discourse rather than simply making that discourse more visibleHow Substack has opened space for a literary culture where thousands voluntarily participate in serious criticism outside the credentialing structures of the universityDisciplinary FragmentationThe silos within English departments (literary studies, composition and rhetoric, creative writing, etc.) and how those divisions shape what reaches K-12 classroomsHow methods from rhet-comp and cultural studies seeped into secondary English education while literary studies seemed to turned inwardThe historical decline of cross-pollination between MLA and NCTE, and what that separation has cost both fieldsThe Canon QuestionThe difference between treating the canon as a fixed inheritance and treating it as a living tradition that can be renegotiated in each momentWhy refusing to engage with questions of canonization has its own costs — including leaving students without the tools to participate in, critique, and renew long-standing intellectual communitiesFraming canon formation not as culture wars but as an ongoing disciplinary practice students can and should be invited intoDefending the HumanitiesHow the defense of the humanities can be seen as being too intramural and why that hasn't workedWhat genuine heterogeneity might look like in literary studies, and why public platforms may offer something the academy currently does notThe gatekeeping mechanisms that constrain academic publishing and hiring, and how they limit the range of voices and methodological commitments in the fieldIn what's quickly becoming a theme in these conversations, we also discuss how the people best positioned to connect literary culture to a broader public (high school English teachers!) have often been alienated from it through regimes of high stakes testing and curricular standardization. For educators who share that sense that something essential has been lost in the way English is taught and structured since the neoliberal turn within K-16 education, this conversation offers both a diagnosis and a provocation. In this powerful and thought-provoking conversation, Michael Rearden sits down with Eric Gee, personality coach, author, and creator of the Youtopia Project, to explore how understanding personality types can unlock deeper self-awareness, personal growth, and authentic identity.Eric breaks down how society often rewards certain personality traits while suppressing others and how this disconnect can lead people to abandon who they truly are. Together, they discuss generational shifts in values, the role parents play in shaping identity, and why self-discovery is more important now than ever. This episode challenges listeners to stop conforming to external expectations and instead lean into what they love, embrace change, and view life as an ongoing journey of curiosity, growth, and fun. What You'll Learn in This EpisodeHow understanding personality types helps you grow into your best selfWhy society often pressures people to become someone they're notThe impact of generational values on identity and successHow parents influence personality development in childrenWhy pursuing what you love leads to fulfillmentHow failure plays a critical role in growth and self-discoveryThe importance of diverse relationships and perspectivesWhy life should be treated as a journey of discovery, not conformityKey Takeaways✅ Understanding personality types helps individuals grow into their best selves✅ Society often imposes values that don't align with individual identity✅ Generational differences shape how personality traits are rewarded✅ Self-discovery is becoming increasingly important in modern life✅ Working hard at what you love creates fulfillment✅ Failure is a natural and necessary part of growth✅ Parents play a key role in shaping identity✅ Diverse friendships expand perspective and awareness✅ Passion leads to meaning and purpose✅ Life is meant to be explored, not boxed in
Henrik Werdelin is one of my favorite entrepreneurs. He's founded and incubated several unicorns, most notably BARK, the dog happiness company.Henrik himself is a pretty happy guy — an optimistic guy who likes to ask what could go right? — and on the day we recorded (a few months ago as I was squirreling away interviews for the podcast relaunch), he helped me see through some future of tech gloom I was feeling. I honestly can't even remember what Trump+tech hellscape we were living through that week, but I do remember that Henrik put me in a better mood. I think he'll do the same for you, no matter how you're feeling.
A mom in our community asked a question that I think a lot of parents secretly wrestle with:“Do I have to do Disney? Isn't it a right of childhood?”In this episode, I break down why the answer is no — and why we need to rethink what vacations are actually for.We talk about:Why time off from labor is a human right — but travel is notThe difference between a vacation and travelingWhy starting young matters if you want good travelersThe mental load moms carry on family tripsWhy kid-centric vacations are often a bustOverstimulation, walking, waiting, and corporate gift shopsWhy kids don't suddenly become grateful in magical environmentsHow expectations ruin vacationsWhy living for your next trip is a red flagThe connection between social media, boredom, and dissatisfactionWhy real life feels dull when your phone becomes your dopamine sourceHow to create magic in the mundaneYou are going to have the kid you have. You are going to have the spouse you have. You are going to have the life you have — just with more glitz.Vacations don't fix dissatisfaction. They amplify expectations. If you're living for your next break, it may be time to rebuild your daily life instead. As always — put your phone down and have a beautiful day.
Many PTs expect APTA membership to deliver immediate, visible ROI — discounts, perks, and fast results. In this conversation, Rebekah Griffith explains why that mindset misses the real value of professional advocacy. This episode covers:Why advocacy work happens whether you're paying attention or notThe “sprinkles vs cake” analogy for APTA benefitsWhy some PTs feel disappointed — and how to realign expectationsHow to approach CSM as a relationship-building opportunityWhy passive attendance leads to zero returnThe mindset shift that separates frustrated attendees from successful onesKey takeaway: You don't get value from APTA or CSM by watching. You get it by participating.

Windermere Ask a Coach Podcast: Show NotesHost: Michael FanningAI can provide instant answers and tactical advice, but true breakthrough happens in relationship with someone who sees your blind spots, challenges your thinking, and holds you capable of more than you currently believe possible. This episode explores why every Olympic champion has a coach and why you might need one too.Why more knowledge doesn't automatically create changeWhat happens between where you are and where you want to beWhy Olympic athletes with world-class skills still need coachesDoubt: "I'm not sure I can do this. Maybe I'm not cut out for this level."Delay: "I'll start when I have more time. I need to learn more first."Division: Seeing another agent's success as proof you can't, rather than evidence you can.How confirmation bias proves what you already believeActivities vs. excuses: getting brutally honestWhat successful agents are doing that you're notThe narratives that keep you safe but stuckWhy successful agents still burn outBuilding smarter, not just grinding harderCreating sustainable systems for longevityWhy there's never a "perfect time" to implement what you knowWhen facing any decision, four outcomes exist:Quadrant 1: Take action → Success (growth, progress)Quadrant 2: Take action → Learning (experience, data)Quadrant 3: Don't take action → Lucky (things work out anyway)Quadrant 4: Don't take action → Stuck (nothing changes)The Math: Taking action means you either succeed or learn. Not taking action means you're either lucky or guaranteed to stay stuck.Which of the Three D's are you experiencing? What story are you telling yourself that's keeping you stuck? Are you being honest about your activities versus your excuses? If you did the same activities as successful agents consistently and professionally would your business grow? Are you building for the long game or surviving the short game?Do you need more information or different thinking?"Information is everywhere. Transformation happens in relationship.""The person you dream about becoming doesn't live in your comfort zone.""If you want to argue in favor of your excuses, you get to keep your excuses.""AI pleases you. A coach transforms you."AI is powerful for research and tactical questions. But transformation requires relationship with someone who cares enough to challenge your stories and hold you capable even when you can't see it yourself.Every Olympic gold medalist has a coach not because they lack knowledge, but because true potential is unlocked with someone who sees what you can't see about yourself.Contact: fanning@windermere.com | Podcast: Windermere Ask a CoachBe awesome, help somebody, make it a great day.

Hey Doc,This episode was sparked by a late-night convo with my husband about our current au pair (who's on her way out) and turned into a full reflection on introversion, identity, and what it means to actually honor who we are, even when the world tells us we're too much, or not enough.I'm sharing something personal about how my personality has always been “a lot” for people, especially in medicine, especially in residency, and especially as a Black woman. I talk about what that has looked like with our au pairs over the years and how I've been tempted to shapeshift in my own house just to make other people more comfortable. (Spoiler: I won't be doing that.)And more importantly, I talk about what it means to raise children who know that their natural way of being is not something that needs to be “fixed.”If you've ever felt like your quiet presence gets misread, or that in a world where extroverts are favored you're seen as unapproachable or “too serious,” I see you, and this one is for you.Key Takeaways:Introversion isn't a flaw, even when the world tries to tell us it isResidency is not just hard because of the workload, it's often traumatizing because of the lack of support and understandingOur kids deserve to be supported, not pushed to be something they're notThe tools we needed then are the tools we can give now: safety, self-trust, and communicationNew episode of ✨Stethoscopes and Strollers✨ is out now. You might have heard about Amazon's 6-pages document, or PRFAQ. But have you tried it yourself? And why aren't there many other successful companies who are following Amazon's direction, and use the same method, one that seems to be winning Amazon some very big bets? Our guest today on the podcast worked for Amazon as a Director of Product & Tech, and experienced the PRFAQ framework first hand. When he left Amazon he asked these same questions. Following some research, he decided to codify and bring to print the principle of the PRFAQ method, therefore making it accessible not only to Amazonians but to everyone else who would like to try it, and reap its benefits.Meet Marcelo Calbucci, Founder of PRFAQ Lab and author of the recently published The PRFAQ Framework: Adapting Amazon's Innovation Framework to Work for You. With a rich background in engineering and product management, and founding several startups, Marcelo experienced both success and failures in developing and bringing new products to market. That enforced his commitment to help others become more successful with the framework he saw working so well at Amazon.Join Matt and Moshe as we chatted with Marcelo about:His way to product management from software developmentWhat is the PRFAQ and what it is notThe structure of the frameworkWhat should go into the document, and what should definitely stay outWho owns the PRFAQ at the company, and who participates in writing it?How is the framework in the book different from what is practiced at Amazon? Why is writing such an important tool? How can, or can't, AI help us in writing a PRFAQ?The benefits of treating the PRFAQ as a productFor which projects or initiatives is it good to use the PRFAQ framework, and for which it's not needed? How can you introduce it in your company if there is no buy-in to use it?And much more! You can connect with Marcelo at:LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/marcelocalbucci/ Website: https://www.theprfaq.com Buy the book: https://www.theprfaq.com/buy ChatGTP PRFAQ assistant based on The PRFAQ Framework book: https://chatgpt.com/g/g-sAGxOcdKc-prfaq-official-prfaq-lab You can find the podcast's page, and connect with Matt and Moshe on Linkedin:Product for Product Podcast - linkedin.com/company/product-for-product-podcastMatt Green - linkedin.com/in/mattgreenanalytics/Moshe Mikanovsky - linkedin.com/in/mikanovsky/Note: any views mentioned in the podcast are the sole views of our hosts and guests, and do not represent the products mentioned in any way. Please leave us a review and feedback ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
