After all the waiting, Day 4 was a classic. Early strikes from India, dogged resistance from England, that blossomed into one of Joe Root's best tons. Every time it looked like England might pull away, India pegged them back. So the wrestle went, as England's lead built. On the brink of Day 5, anything could yet happen. Season 10, Ep 15: Most of were kids who dreamed of being rock stars. None of us had the single-minded determination to set about making it happen. Felix did, taking a bunch of mates at uni in Bristol to No.1 on the UK charts with the Maccabees. What's even more unexpected is the part that cricket played in Felix's life, two obsessions forming an unlikely partnership. Now he's written down that story, in a beautiful debut book that ties together ambition, grief, and loneliness, and the extraordinary power that any of those can have. Felix is a very special guest to talk through the tale of It's Always Summer Somewhere. This is The Final Word Daily, from the first Test at Lord’s in June 2021. Adam Collins and Geoff Lemon sum up the action, name the Player of the Day, and rank the entries for our Hall of Fame. He resumed the day on 136 and just kept going. But not everything was Conway’s way. Mark Wood started a speed spell for England, and the match rattled and rolled. Then came Neil Wagner to add some flourish in ways that only he can. NZ’s first innings is wrapped, and England have started a decent reply. For many years, the rare Australian cricket tours to India went barely noticed by Australian cricket fans. Scoreboards and match reports were the most that could be consumed. This mixed with the supposed horror stories that filtered back after the fact from players about accommodation, food and illness resulted in the perception of an outpost - something that was not as worthy as the iconic and growing rivalries elsewhere. However, legendary cricket writer Mike Coward begged to differ. He embraced India like no other Australian in the cricket fraternity through the 70s and 80s. He saw the nation for its cricket passion, and 30 years ago was moved to wrote the seminal book ‘Cricket beyond the bazaar’ that put a spotlight on the untold stories of Australia’s battles on the subcontinent, and foretold the rise of Indian cricket well before Australia and the rest of the world cottoned on. As we reach the finale of The Greatest Season That Was Presents: Final Frontier, Mike Coward joins us to give the historical backdrop to todays’ great rivalry, and the reasons why it took so long for Australians to appreciate Indian cricket. Sometimes all it takes is a good talk to help line up the great ideas you want to record. Because that's the only thing left after you completely commit to video marketing at the highest level. Dedicating physical space and company culture to the idea are the two biggest way to really get things started. The only thing that's usually left is to give yourself permission to create mediocre for a little longer than you'd like. That's what I talked to Jay Mueller, of Camargo Insurance, about putting the finishing touches on their video strategy.
