Last night, Jeremy Sole premiered a new track by Okonski. The project is led by Durand Jones & The Indications’ pianist and bandleader Steve Okonski, and features a couple of his bandmates — drummer Aaron Frazer and bassist Michael Montgomery. Tightly improvisational, we dig into the meditative “Dahlia.”

Willie Nelson is performing at the Hollywood Bowl this weekend to celebrate his 90th birthday. KCRW's Jeremy Sole shares some of his favorite tracks from the singer. Fox News is parting ways with host Tucker Carlson. This comes after Fox's parent company settled a lawsuit against Dominion Voting Systems for nearly $787 million. The California Supreme Court declined to block Gov. Newsom's CARE Court, a plan that could force people with severe mental illness into treatment. Jury selection starts Tuesday in E. With the growing popularity of Ozempic, Wegovy, and other drugs that can help people lose weight, the diet industry is facing an existential crisis.

Leanna Rachel is a Los Angeles native and Bali-based singer, songwriter, musician and all-round creative. Leanna has performed at The Viper Room, Hotel Cafe and The Whiskey in Los Angeles, and has performed at clubs and festivals in New York, Sweden, Australia (Woodford Folk Festival), Singapore and Kuala Lumpur, alongside the likes of José González, Little Dragon, Bonobo, and Angus & Julia Stone. Leanna’s debut EP, "Moonrise" was released in April 2016 and is produced and arranged by KCRW radio DJ and remixer Jeremy Sole. More recently, Leanna has carved a niche in the Bali music scene, performing regularly at premier venues and festivals. She writes and collaborates to progress and inspire. Leanna has teamed up with fellow musician Athron to form the duet Bullet and Cass, a 1930s folk music inspired genre that is moody, melodic, theatrical and depicts survival and strength. Leanna sings with an open heart. Her authenticity is hard to ignore. Unbeknown to her, I was getting out of the surf at Canggu recently, and as I was walking past, I witnessed Leanna performing at sunset at a popular beach club, eyes closed, singing her heart out to the guests lucky enough to be in her presence...and there was a real presence. This week, Leanna is with me to share her journey, experiences, challenges and hopes for the future.https://www.thebalirooftop.com/https://www.instagram.com/leannarachelhttps://www.facebook.com/LeannaRachelMusicBullet and Cass- Youtube Channelhttps://www.youtube.com/channel/UCwOciPM21PANrvK-im5wA5Q/featuredSupport the show (https://terriblehappytalks.teemill.com)

Jeremy Sole that is... But before we get to that, as I was doing final post production for the podcast I realized IFE, who has possibly the best song ever (or at least best on this mix), hails from San Juan, Puerto Rico. I really should have known and I wish I had brought more attention to it. In case anyone forgot, for us Americans fighting against taxation without representation is kind of our whole thing. Puerto Rico is definitely American and definitely suffering from lack of a voice. So what do I have in store for you today musically? Serendipitous digressions, that's what. This mix is to honor possibly my all time favorite radio DJ who gave up the reigns to his Wednesday night midnight to 3am slot after over ten years. I had so many musical discoveries thanks to that guy that it seemed only appropriate to serve up a mix in his honor. That and the finally apologize for mispronouncing his name (twice!) on the podcast years ago. Also, tacked on a last minute addition to honor a good friend of our that passed away from cancer at far too young an age. Even still, it was long enough to positively affect a remarkable number of lives, including many that were only a single encounter. Her celebration of life was a testament to what a extraordinary human she was. 40 years was not enough but it's also 40 years to be thankful for. @jeremysole is on a mission to show how music is a singular universal language, and that each culture’s rhythms and melodies are no more than slang/different accents of the same mother tongue.
