Katie Visco was the youngest woman to run across the United States in 2009. Not only did she run across the U.S., but she gave talks all along the way. She repeated a cross-nation run ten years later, running across Australia with only bicycle support throughout the ride. Now Katie is in a sales role at ADP in their retirement services - and winning awards doing it - no surprise. Listen to Katie's transition into sales (she's also an entrepreneur) and learn what keeps her going. This is our 140th episode to inspire women and appreciate our male allies in B2B sales and revenue growth. #shesells #seeitbeit #womeninsales

Katie Visco, who has been called a "bubbly and offbeat running, biking, soup-making, people-loving, community-building exclamation mark," started running when she was in middle school, duped into the sport thinking it was some kind of soccer conditioning camp. Oops. She quickly fell in love with running, and then... In 2009, promoting the importance of a bold and passion-driven life, Katie ran solo across America, from Boston to San Diego, and became the 2nd youngest and 13th woman overall to make the crossing. During, and the year after her transAmerican crossing, she raised funds for the charity, Girls on the Run, and also stopped to visit more than two hundred audiences en route to spread her message to young and old alike. Running has been a versatile cornerstone of her wellbeing for years, and she especially loves the trails! Besides trail running, biking, creating delicious food, and traveling, Katie loves her husband and family very much and enjoys getting to hear the stories of others. She's been writing since she was six and hopes to publish a book one day. She's stoked to share her journeys with you in hopes that you will glean something special from them for your own growth and joy. This USA Ultra Endurance couple had a dream of Running one of the worlds harshest trans-continental crossing's from Darwin Australia to Adelaide. 3,700 km self supported by bike through the Tanami Desert, isolated for weeks at a time. This is a story of human resolve paused with funny tales of characters and environmental harshness. Enjoy what is an incredible journey.
The Outback is a large expanse of rough, barren desert that can cause serious problems when exposed day after day to shadeless, intense heat. With a July 2019 start date, we're taking advantage of the cooler, drier months to make the crossing, avoiding extreme temperatures and washed-out roads. While there is a more direct route connecting Darwin to Adelaide via the Stuart Highway, we've chosen to avoid the more trafficked paved routes in favor of dirt roads. This approach keeps us away from potential dangers like increased traffic, while also introducing the logistical difficulty of scant resupply options and many hundreds of miles without services. More intriguing, yes. More difficult, most definitely. It's worth noting that we - Katie and Henley - are in no way professionals. Professional goofballs, that's about it! We're just audacious dreamers with a healthy dose of optimism that things will work out and a desire to push ourselves. That said, we are experienced outdoors-people with several thousand miles of solo and tandem travel of this nature, and we have inspired heads on our shoulders. We understand the risks of the project and are responsible and intelligent enough to figure it all out with passion and humility.
