Welcome to Where Is My Mind? A podcast about how we can better look after our heads and our hearts in the head-melty chaos of the modern world. On Sunday 4th of June Niall brought the Where Is My Mind? Podcast to the beautiful Ballycotton in East Cork. He couldn't visit the Rebel County without speaking to two of the most profound voices on mental health and addiction, not just in Cork but in all of Ireland, The Two Norries. James Leonard and Timmy Long are The Two Norries, an incredible duo from a disadvantaged part of North Cork. Both James and Timmy had a difficult start to life that led them down the road of crime, prison time, addiction and homelessness. They have now turned their lives around and use their podcast platform to share their own stories and the voices of others, and push for better awareness and systems for people who are struggling they way they did. James and Timmy gives us an insight to their early lives, how that trauma followed them through life and what would have helped them while they were at their lowest. Brendan Danaher is PRO of Mountcollins and Brosna Anglers’ Association. He gave Radio Kerry a report which found that farming and forestry are the main reasons for pollution in the River Feale which covers North Kerry, parts of Limerick, and North Cork. He says the bodies that commissioned the report need to publish it.
A study by engineering and environmental consultants Malachy Walsh and Partners has found that practices by the agriculture and forestry sectors are the main reasons for the decline in the River Feale’s water quality. The river rises in North Cork and flows west for 75 kilometres through Abbeyfeale and Listowel before entering the sea near Ballybunion. The report was given to Radio Kerry by Brendan Danaher, PRO of the Mountcollins and Brosna Anglers’ Association. Treasa Murphy discusses the main findings with Jerry.
Its time to pay a visit to the deep south…North Cork! James Leonard and Timmy Long are known as ‘The Two Norries' (a Norrie is someone from the north side of Cork City) – and they are two of the most interesting people I've had on The Mario Rosenstock Podcast since the series began. They had a difficult upbringing which led to drug, alcohol and other addictions and they both spent time in prison. During their time inside and since their subsequent release they have turned their lives around, focused on education and helping others, and now present the hugely popular Two Norries podcast (The number 1 podcast in prisons around Ireland!!)This chat has everything – powerful stories, personal reflection, and serious craic too (don't miss the bit where Roy Keane and Leo Varadkar phone in to chat with the lads..) – I think you're really going to enjoy it. And they also have an upcoming live show tour called Changing the Conversation – all details here https://twonorries.com/live-shows/COMEDY - There has been so much talk about parties in Downing Street of late – champagne flowing at political get togethers in the midst of the harshest of lockdowns. The controversy must be taking up all of the time of the poor Downing St staff, so it got me to thinking how difficult it must be for normal punters to get through to government departments and get some answersEnjoy!Mariohttps://www.instagram.com/mariorosenstockofficial/https://twitter.com/giftgrubmariomariorosenstock@gmail.comSend a whatsappp message or voicenote to the hotline on 087 2685459The Mario Rosenstock Podcast is produced by Patrick Haughey of AudioBrand See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
