Aum Shinrikyo was a Japanese doomsday cult led by psychotic madman Shoko Asahara, a man who claimed to be Jesus who was nicknamed the Japanese Charles Manson. He was actually a much more dangerous cult leader than Manson was. He pulled tens of thousands into his dark insanity, instead of just a handful. He had thousands of followers willing to help him violently bring about the end times. Aum started in the 1980s as a small spiritual group based on tenets of Buddhism. And then he soon incorporated elements of Hinduism, Nostradamus doomsday prophecies, Christian apocalyptic prophecies and more - all woven into a message focused largely on bringing about Armageddon. And this cult would try and bring about Armageddon by carrying out large scale chemical warfare attacks in Japan, hoping to have Japan blame the US, and then kick off WW3. The story of this cult is wild - machine gun and chemical weapons manufacturing, strange rituals involving LSD, attempted nuclear bomb creation and acquisition, having dissident cult members executing, assassinating critics, and more. The Bad Magic Productions charity of the month is IAVA - Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America- thanks to you we are able to give $15,800 to this very deserving cause. IAVA serves and empowers the post-9/11 veterans' community. In the weeks and months that followed, when the public's attention moved on, journalist Mark Oppenhiemer didn't look away. He made over 30 reporting trips to the Squirrel Hill neighborhood to understand how the oldest Jewish community in America was seeking to heal after the massacre. THE FIVE DEADLIEST WINTER DRIVING STATES. When it comes to driving in winter conditions, some states are more deadly than others. We got the info on which states have more fatalities than the rest in the winter. Most drivers when interviewed, do not want to drive in the northwest from December to March. They feel that states like Montana, Washington and Oregon are too dangerous because of their harsh winter conditions, along with those steep mountains. But guess what? Not one of the northwest regions contains on of the five deadliest winter driving states. Tune into this weeks podcast and hear the countdown. Will your home state make the top five? The states with the worst statistics will surprise you, we are sure of it. If your truck winterized? Are you prepared for this winter? Many drivers will venture into some harsh conditions without the proper gear in their rigs. Even if you don't think you will ever be dispatched out of the south and into the north, you should be prepared for anything. There have been record cold temperatures over the years and even states like Florida can produce dangerous cold temps. So make sure you have at the least, a warm blanket and a jacket. Things that you should have, if you are traveling into the frigid northern states. Winter clothes including a coat, long underwear, thick socks, boots, gloves and a nice warm hat. Some extra things we advise. Hand warmers, you can pick them up where hunting supplies are sold. If you find yourself broke down in cold weather with no heater, a hand warmer will keep you warm for several hours till help arrives. Hand warmers are small packets that you activate by bending and shaking. They automatically throw off lots of heat. One in each glove, each boot and even one down your pants will keep you toasty warm. They also make the kind that stick to your skin which enables you to put it on the back of your neck. In November 2018, Paradise, California suffered through the nation's deadliest wildfire in a century. The Camp Fire leveled the mountain town, killing 85 people and destroying more than 18,000 structures. At the time, reporter Lizzie Johnson was a staff writer for the San Francisco Chronicle. Her definitive firsthand accounts of the fire and its wreckage helped tell the vivid story of this massive disaster. Three years later, Johnson's new book, Paradise: One Town's Struggle to Survive an American Wildfire, provides a detailed overview of the fire that destroyed Paradise, examines what went wrong and suggests ways to avert future tragedies as the climate crisis unfolds and California's drought worsens. Drawing on years of on-the-ground reporting and reams of public records, including 911 calls and testimony from a grand jury investigation, Johnson provides a minute-by-minute account of the Camp Fire, following residents and first responders as they fight to save themselves and their town. As California enters what is usually the toughest part of its fire season during a historically dry year, please join us in a timely look back at the tragedy of Paradise, California, what is being done to bring that city back, and what we all need to be aware of regarding the increasing dangers from wildfires in our "new normal." Nick Reed is live on location at Scramblers Diner for our Heroes Breakfast. Here's what he covers: Yesterday, at least 13 members of the U.S. military were killed and an additional 15 were injured as a result of the bombings at Kabul airport. President Joe Biden blamed “major military personnel” for the decision to withdraw from Bagram Air Force Base during the question-and-answer portion of his Thursday address. The Biden administration reportedly gave the Taliban a list of the names of United States citizens, green card holders, and other Afghan allies that needed to be allowed into the airport so they could be evacuated. White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki dismissed calls for President Joe Biden to resign in the wake of a terrorist attack in Kabul, Afghanistan that killed 13 U.S. service members, saying that there's no room for politics in the discussion of the tragedy.

There's just no denying that Texas produced its fair share of stone-cold killers in the latter part of the 19th century. Men like John Wesley Hardin, King Fisher, Clay Allison, the outlaw Sam Bass, and of course the notorious Deacon Jim Miller. And then there's Bill Longley, considered by some to be one of the deadliest gunmen of the west. A tall brooding shootist credited with 32 kills once described as the worst man in Texas. “I still alone tread the living land destitute of friends but damn the world and every sons of a bitch that don't like me for I am a wolf, and it is my night to howl.” – Bill Longley Check out my website! https://www.wildwestextra.com/ Contact me!
