Agatha Christie (1890-1976) was an English crime novelist, short story writer, and playwright. She is best known for her 66 detective novels and 14 short story collections, particularly those featuring her famous characters Hercule Poirot and Miss Marple. Christie is the best-selling novelist of all time, with her works having sold over two billion copies worldwide. Her innovative plots, clever misdirection, and surprising twists have earned her the title of the Queen of Crime. "Sing a Song of Sixpence" is a short story by Agatha Christie, first published in the December 1929 issue of the Illustrated Sporting and Dramatic News in the U.K. The story was later collected in the anthology "The Listerdale Mystery" (1934) and published in the U.S. in Ellery Queen's Mystery Magazine in February 1947 and the collection "The Witness for the Prosecution and Other Stories" (1948). Within Christie's extensive body of work, "Sing a Song of Sixpence" stands as an early example of her mastery of the short story format. Published in 1929, the story falls within the Golden Age of Detective Fiction in Britain, a period characterized by puzzle-like mysteries, amateur sleuths, and complex plots. While the story deviates from some of Christie's more famous works by featuring a one-off protagonist instead of her iconic detectives, it still showcases her ability to craft intricate and engaging mysteries. ~Sing, Sing a Song~ It's Time For Church Teaching Series, Part 4

I have to confess and of course it's no secret to the people who know me is that there's a little bit of a defiant spirit within me. I Like to be different. Needless to say this sometimes drives my wife crazy and so I try and tone it down but that's who I am. And maybe that's why I have always found this to be my favorite Christmas song that I like to sing and particularly sing the last words as loud as I can. I often say that God asked us to make a joyful noise and since I'm not often times in tune or on key I'll just take it as my joyful noise. Heard a podcast this past week that really helped me to understand because they share the truth that perhaps we all need to learn, maybe even write, maybe from time to time sing songs of defiance. I am going to do more of that and it just so happened that my favorite song for Christmas is very much a song of defiance ... And thanks to my friends at Seedbed communications for the inspiration. Gato Maestro at Paul Weisenfeld's House. Paul had a boatload of people over to his house for his 50th birthday party. Gato was in attendance in and in full force. It was a VERY busy day. Gato's biggest crowd probably. The unfortunate result is that we only got two songs recorded. We forgot to start the recorder before we began playing and then it also ran out of batteries and died. There are a lot of videos from this event up on YouTube that are honestly a better way to experience it. We DID manage to grab our version of Sing a Song of Songs with Dave Finucane on that SD card though, and it's definitely worth a listen.

Until this week, we had no idea how many ways you could die by food. There's the obvious method of the One Chip Challenge. But you could also order from a poorly executed ghost kitchen. And perhaps most devastating of all - drowning in Thousand Island dressing!
