You're listening to Following Films, the podcast where we dig beneath the surface of cinema to uncover the stories behind the screen. I'm your host, Chris Maynard, and today we're going deep into the heart of Diablo — a lean, ferocious action-thriller starring Scott Adkins that lands today in theaters and on demand.Diablo is the story of Kris Chaney — a man fresh out of prison, carrying the weight of a promise and running from the kind of danger you can't hide from. Directed by Ernesto Díaz Espinoza, the film mixes brutal martial arts choreography, a relentless villain, and a surprising emotional core.In this special episode, I'm joined first by Scott Adkins, who talks about the physical and emotional challenge of playing Kris — a man torn between violence and redemption. Then, I speak with Alanna de la Rossa, who plays Elisa — a pivotal role that grounds the story with vulnerability and strength. We dive into her experience on set, working opposite Adkins, and what it meant to represent her Colombian roots in an international action film. And finally, I close things out with director Ernesto Díaz Espinoza, who shares his vision for Diablo — from crafting terrifying villains to building tension through movement, silence, and raw human conflict. This is one of our most action-packed episodes yet — and there's a lot more going on beneath the surface than just fists and bullets.Welcome to Following Films. Let's get into Diablo

In this deeply meaningful episode, I had the honor of speaking with Ralph De La Rosa—teacher, healer, and radiant soul—who sadly passed away earlier this week. This episode is a tribute to Ralph's immense heart and the wisdom they so generously shared with the world. We explored the profound intersections of Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Buddhism, and I was struck by Ralph's grace, clarity, and the gentle light they brought to even the heaviest of topics. Their book, Outshining Trauma, is a lasting gift—a testament to the depth of their insight and compassion. I'm so grateful for the laughter we shared and the truths we uncovered. This episode is an offering to our community and a way to honor one of our own who carried so much, and gave so much more.

Got shame? When shame shows up, it's overwhelming and contagious. My guest has created a process to help therapists transform shame with their clients. You're about to hear how she created her program, how her process works, and how she transformed her own shame in the process of building her business. Tatra De La Rosa is a therapist and educator with a private practice in Northern California where she provides supervision and training to associate therapists, and teaches graduate students on the path to becoming therapists. She's been working with clients in her private practice to heal shame at its source and is passionate about teaching other therapists how they can learn to do so as well. She's also a recent grad of Create Your Program. Here's some of what we talked about: Why we get frustrated when we work with shame protectors How shame gets activated in the therapist, a.k.a. “I'm a terrible therapist!” or imposter syndrome Why shame is actually a misunderstanding The and modules of her program and how she teaches it Using a recorded session of her work as well as live group coaching to teach participants the method How she filled her pilot program Show notes at https://rebeltherapist.me/podcast/242

In this episode I chat with Ralph De La Rosa, a meditation teacher, therapist, and author of Outshining Trauma. Ralph shares his personal journey of healing from PTSD, depression, and addiction, and how IFS helped him access Self Energy beyond traditional meditation. Key Takeaways: Self Energy and Buddhist concepts like Buddha-nature share striking similarities. Meditation can be a powerful tool for parts work, offering a structured way to access Self. What happens when Self meets our most burdened parts? Self Energy as a reparenting force Instead of rejecting painful emotions or defensive parts, he encourages holding them with warmth, like placing them in the sunlight of Self. Trauma constricts and healing expands Start with Self rather than diving directly into the pain. Parts are just like people Radical self-compassion as meeting every part of ourselves—including the ones that hold fear, addiction, or pain—with love, rather than trying to suppress or fix them. Reparenting happens naturally when we turn toward our parts with compassion. Favorite Quote: "One thing I've learned from direct experience of Self is that it can expand to be bigger than any level of heartache, any sense of brokenness, any sense of wounding, no matter how deep, no matter how wide, no matter how big. Self-energy can expand to fill the entire room you're sitting in. If you practice with it, if you practice with it and your parts, we could begin to trust that." – Ralph De La Rosa About Ralph De La Rosa: Ralph De La Rosa is a psychotherapist, meditation teacher, and author of Outshining Trauma: A New Vision of Radical Self-Compassion.
