Trip introduces an alien gal to ice cream and other people. Join your holographic hosts as they discuss similarities between this episode and "Shadowplay" from DS9, the unfulfilled promise of a haunted ship episode, and whether "feeding Doctor Phlox's bat" is meant to be taken literally or metaphorically. We also discuss out favorite flavors of iced cream! Spoiler warning! We dive right into a detail-rich discussion of this episode of Star Trek: Enterprise, so if you haven't had a chance to see it yet – beware! Next week: Dan's algorithm has selected a corker of an episode of Star Trek: Voyager to discuss next: "Parturition" - it's a Neelix vs. Paris throwdown! Note that this and all episodes of the It's Got Star Trek podcast contain explicit language and, frankly, an unnecessary amount of offensive content, so the show is intended only for adults and really really cool kids. As a maternal-fetal immunologist at the Washington University School of Medicine, Nardhy Gómez-López investigates the immunobiological pathways that underlie pregnancy complications. Having trained and researched across the globe alongside caring and curious physicians, Gómez-López became hooked on perinatal immunology research. Motivated to help solve the prevalent problem of preterm birth, she currently looks at labor and birth, also called parturition, through a basic research lens. In this Science Philosophy in a Flash podcast episode, The Scientist's Creative Services Team spoke with Gómez-López to learn more about her recent work investigating cellular changes in the maternal-fetal interface during parturition and what motivates her clinically collaborative research perspective. To learn more about Gómez-López's research, check out this article. Science Philosophy in a Flash is a mini podcast series produced by The Scientist's Creative Services Team. In this series, we highlight researchers' unique outlooks on what it means to be a scientist.

Parturition, the process of giving birth, plays a vital role in the life cycle of mule deer and elk. These large mammals have evolved unique adaptations to ensure successful reproduction and the survival of their offspring. From the selection of birthing sites to the timing of births, various factors influence the parturition process in mule deer and elk. Understanding the intricacies of parturition in these species is crucial for wildlife management, conservation, and the preservation of their populations. Heffelfinger, J. and Krausman, P.R. Having focused last week on Antisemitism and Anti-Zionism, this week sees the opinionated Jews tackle another big A - Abortion! WIth predictable results, as Gabi vs. Abe becomes the most heated debate since... well... Roe vs. Wade. Kes continues to be the unluckiest woman in space, as she finds herself at the heart of conflict twice this week. First up: Tom and Neelix's audience-upsetting conflict comes to a childish head and then they bond over a middling puppet in "Parturition". After that: can Kes's powers-ex-machina save the day from a mighty psychic villain in "Persistence of Vision"? Also this week: the alleged end of jealous Neelix, post-birdstrike Fabio, and Admiral's uniforms! Welcome to Die Rolling Episode 11! Originally recorded live on Twitch. DieRolling are six newly/rediscovered D&D players and friends, based in Somerset, England. Some grew up playing older editions, most grew up with fantasy tabletop games of some sort, and one is a professional miniature painter. Now we pretend to be goblins whilst our wives sit in the other room drinking gin. We aim to have fun. We don't take ourselves too seriously. We run combat as 'Theatre of the Mind'. We care more about storytelling than the minutiae of the rules. Somebody may die. You are just in time to join us for The Star Engine: a brand new DnD 5E mid-fantasy homebrew campaign in the land of Asha - where magic is outlawed and much of the world is unexplored. The twist? None of us know the classes or anything about any of the other characters prior to the campaign. This will be a hotchpotch band in the purest form. The Star Engine continues Tuesday 7:30pm UK
Feature Interview (15:00) – Solidarity Healthshare co-founder Chris Faddis talks with the doctors about how health-sharing ministries take a different approach to health care coverage, why he founded Solidarity Healthshare, and some of the benefits of this approach for doctors and patients. For bonus points, what does the title Parturition mean? (Hint: It’s also a medical term.) Listener Questions (43:20) – I am a resent convert. I got my tubes tied before I met my husband. We would love to have children of our own someday. How do I find a doctor who can do a tubal ligation reversal? Do you believe that it is "safe" for a woman to take a birth control pill for hormone imbalances?
