Can We Just Forget That Last Week Even Happened? Many MLS fans are still trying to figure out how to process a two month long break in the middle of the season. Most NYCFC fans had high expectations for this past week. A chance to advance to the semi-finals of the US Open Cup. A chance to change the narrative that the club never took the competition seriously. Pascal Jansen previously had said himself that the tournament was a great way to win a trophy. But after conceding the lone goal of the match in the 59th minute, NYCFC appeared to clean house and rest players for the next MLS match. If some NYCFC fans were not sure how to feel about the break, the last two matches will make you want to forget about the club for a while. This week Mike Anderer, Mike Allen and J.R. give their best takes on how NYCFC fell so low in such a short amount of time.
DC Outperforms On Marvel Day The US Open Cup victory against Red Bull on Wednesday was epic. A game for the ages with three nearly identical goals from NYCFC to defeat and eliminate their cross-river rivals. All of that elation was quickly diffused by another abysmal offensive performance by the team on Sunday afternoon in the shadows of what will soon become their home. This week the guys take a look back at where this team is under Pascal Jansen and can the results simply be due to the mass of injuries? We have audio from Malachi Jones, Pascal Jansen and Thiago Martins

Stoppage Time Stunner NYCFC returned to action after the international break and dropped two points from a winning position at home. The second time they dropped points in as many games. Clinging onto a one goal lead late into second half stoppage time, tire legs and tired minds would fail the boys in blue as St Louis City would score the equalizer in the 96th minute. In this episode, Mike Anderer, Mike Allen and J.R. diBart talk about the good parts and the bad parts of the match. There is also audio from Pascal Jansen and NYCFC goal-scorer, Hannes Wolf.
On this episode of The Sick Podcast, Glenn Crooks and Roberto Abramowitz discuss New York City Football Club's unbeaten start, the 5-0 win over Orlando City SC, supporter buzz around Pascal Jansen and Todd Dunivant, Etihad Park updates, and the club's place atop the Eastern Conference & more! The Sweet Taste Of Son’s Of Ben Tears A huge takeaway from NYCFC’s draw in Los Angeles in week one of the season was not being able to capitalize on the man advantage after LA received the red card with 30 minutes left to play. In week two, NYCFC had less time with a man advantage, but they definitely learned from their mistakes and made Philadelphia pay the price. This week on Blue City Radio Mike Anderer and Mike Allen discuss the road win and the fact that NYCFC is undefeated in two games to start the 2026 campaign. In the show there is audio from Pascal Jansen, Keaton Parks and Tayvon Gray.
On this episode of The Sick Podcast, Glenn Crooks and Roberto Abramowitz discuss New York City FC's road point at the LA Galaxy, the rematch trip to Subaru Park vs the Philadelphia Union, Pascal Jansen earning major MLS respect, CONCACAF Champions Cup scouting notes, Drew Baiera and Kai Trewin debuts, Messi/LAFC fallout, USMNT storylines & more! False Nines Giving False Hope Stop us if you have heard this before, NYCFC need a striker. Once again a team with so much promise and quality lacks a definitive player in the key role of striker. Since the departure of David Villa in 2018 the club has really only seen one quality replacement as a number nine, in Taty Castellanos. Heber had a good season with NYCFC, but he was never the same after his injury. The start of the 2026 campaign was a stark reminder of why having such a gaping hole in the middle of the attack will limit any team’s chances on truly challenging for hardware. This Mike Anderer, J.R. diBart and Mike Allen break the opening game of the season down. They also share some audio from Pascal Jansen, Tayvon Gray and NYCFC newcomer, Kai Trewin.
Real Madrid are staring down a potentially humiliating Champions League exit — can they steady the ship against Benfica in the Round of 32? The boys break down what's gone wrong, whether Madrid's aura still carries weight in Europe, and give their official predictions for all Round of 32 matchups. Then we're joined by the legendary Glenn Crooks, who gives incredible insight into how Emma Hayes developed into the elite manager she is today. Crooks also reflects on his own journey in soccer, shares thoughts on NYCFC's upcoming season, discusses Pascal Jansen's evolution as a coach, and weighs in on what the club's new stadium means for the future of football in New York City.To close it out, we react to Carlo Ancelotti being spotted at Carnival — is that a bad look for Brazil's head coach given the national team's current form? Plus, we discuss Tottenham's new manager, Raheem Sterling's move to Feyenoord, Pellegrino Matarazzo's first La Liga loss, and Antoine Semenyo's absolutely unhinged pizza opinion. Enter Todd Dunivant This was a busy week for New York City FC. First scrimmage of 2026 in the books. Two players out on loan. One player signing confirmed and one rumored. First official press conferences of the season. It feels like the new season is right around the corner because it is. This week Mike Anderer, J.R. diBart and Mike Allen tackle all the news stories from the club and include some audio from CSO, Todd Dunivant, and head coach, Pascal Jansen.

The Dunivant Era Begins Ultimately NYCFC lost their semifinal match to the eventual champions. That might not dampen the pain of the 5-1 loss in the Eastern Conference Final but it is a reminder of the success new coach Pascal Jansen had with the club in his first year. Now enter a new Chief Soccer Officer in Todd Dunivant. This week Mike Anderer, J.R. diBart and Mike Allen discuss what they know about the new CSO and also look at how he will impact NYCFC. They also talk about the 2026 schedule, the 2027 calendar shift and ticket prices in Etihad Park.
The Eastern Conference Final For most of the 2025 season a big talking point about NYCFC was the young average age of the squad. These weren’t players in their prime. That changed in summer with the additions of Aiden O’Neill, Nicolas Fernandez Mercau and Raul Gustavo. Even with those players coming in and helping the club reach another Eastern Conference Final it was not shocking to hear head coach, Pascal Jansen, lecture the team on naivete following the 5-1 loss in Fort Lauderdale. This week Mike Anderer, J.R. diBart and Mike Allen break it all down and discuss their opinions on the future of NYCFC homegrown, Justin Haak.
Arno Vermeulen bespreekt met Jeroen Grueter, Jeroen Elshoff en Frank Wielaard het voetbalweekend. Over de nederlagen van Ajax en Feyenoord, de Europese week, Arne Slot en meer!
NYCFC Advance To the Eastern Conference Semi-Final NYCFC is a team that knows how to handle adversity. Their legacy began with the club’s second biggest signing missing the first half of their debut season. Their championship season was marked with two key season-ending injuries. Last year breakout rookie star, Malachi Jones, suffered a severe injury mid-season that he still has yet to return from. Despite all of these moments, the team rises, the team comes together and the bond grows. Friday night was another of those moments as midfielder Andres Perea would land awkwardly breaking both his tibia and fibula in the 70th minute in Charlotte. The Boys In Blue rallied as they often do to hold off the home side and win the deciding game 3-1. This week Mike Anderer, J.R. diBart and Mike Allen discuss the options Pascal Jansen has to build a midfield for the next match in Chester, PA. They also look back at the key moments from game three of the first round series.
Win On Friday! NYCFC had a golden opportunity to defeat the team ahead of them in the standings and advance to the second round of the MLS Cup Playoffs. Unfortunately the result did not go their way and while it is easy to blame the two young players that missed their penalty kick chances the coach was more focused on why it was not decided in regulation. That leadership is what hopefully will give NYCFC the advantage they need on Friday night in Charlotte. This week Mike Anderer, Mike Allen and J.R. diBart discuss the idea of supporting players during the toughest moments. They also talk more about David Lee’s departure and look back at the first two games of the playoff series. There is audio from Pascal Jansen, Hannes Wolf, Matt Freese, Justin Haak and Tayvon Gray.
Blue Ballers, it's October and the pigeons are still flying. Pascal Jansen's first season ends with an ignominious 1-2 defeat against Seattle, but NYCFC still in the 5-seed and facing perennial thorns-in-our-ass Charlotte FC over 3 matches. Jake & Trey talk Seattle's red flags and blue balls, punchy postmatch patter, AI-nxiety, Trey's 2025 ballot (not that one), and of course a playoffs precap. Jays fans will have to wait — you've got Blue Balls.
For the Glory KC is back with the 149th episode of the show!Sporting Kansas City did what we've been asking for and hired a new President of Soccer Operations. David Lee is in charge of all things soccer over at Sporting KC, and he'll report directly to ownership. That's actually the first (serious) subject on the pod. CSO? PoSO? General Manager? Sporting Director? Technical Director? To quote the former King of the Seven Kingdoms, Robert Baratheon, "titles, titles, titles."On today's, not quite an emergency podcast, we learn about David Lee's professional past, his time with NYCFC and his track record of success. He also comes out of the City Football Group (CFG) empire, so we tell you what the heck that means and what impact that likely had on the resources he had at his disposal and how it could both be benefiting him and limiting him at other times.Sheena and I also weigh in on Lee's history of youth development and a knack for signing young talent. A lot of that is CFG related, but it also could be the direction he decides to take with Sporting KC. There is so much to talk about with Lee, you should probably just download the episode already! As a tease, here are some of the quotes from the media we'll cite around the excitement of the David Lee hire:David Gass: "This is probably better than what I would have guessed is a best-case scenario for SKC.”Tom Bogert: "David Lee joining Sporting KC from NYCFC as CSO is a big move. Impressive by SKC to court and land Lee, as it's rare for a CSO to leave for another CSO role. Lee one of league's respected sporting executives. Gets to rebuild SKC around Dejan Joveljic, Manu Garcia and more."Joe Lowery: "SKC fans should be pleased with the David Lee hire. While it's hard to know how much of NYCFC's success during Lee's time there stemmed from his roster-building vs. CFG's resources, he's got real experience in a recruiting machine."Taylor Twellman: "Smart. Clever. Great Hire from Sporting KC. David Lee is someone who can really get SKC over the hump and his experience with NYCFC in MLS will be invaluable in turning around the franchise in Kansas."Andrew Weibe: "This is truly a great get for Kansas City. Lee has repeatedly hit at every roster designation with his signings (not all HRs, of course, before you get in the mentions). Pascal Jansen has been an A+ managerial hire. NYCFC has been consistently good to excellent under his watch."In the Digital Crawl, we hit on a few more topics, including:MLS Offseason scheduleSKC International call-upsA new job for Peter Vermes?World Cup Ticket Pricesand more! Here is a rundown of topics and start times:Sporting KC hire a CSO - 2:50Digital Crawl - 59:59Upcoming GamesSporting KC @ Minnesota United, Sat. Episode 510: Pascal Jansen did not mince words in his post game press conference following the 2-1 loss for NYCFC against last place, DC United. Last time, the Big Apple took a large bite out of the Orange & Blue. This time, the winged lions look to claw and bite back. But how much has NYCFC changed since that loss at Citi Field in May? Cincinnati has managed to hurdle some of the competition, while the Pigeons from the 5 Boroughs have treaded water, especially on the road. Then again, NYCFC rode the hot gloved hands of Matt Freese to win the last time at TQL Stadium in the 2024 MLS Cup Playoffs. We sit down with Michael from Blue City Radio to turn the volume up on this rivalry between Cincinnati and New York. Can this NYCFC squad subsist on two guys for offense? Does head coach Pascal Jansen have reinforcements on the way? (And can we get through this episode without any baseball-field jokes?) The rivalries in New York have been distinct between the two MLS branches in the Big Apple. However, FC Cincinnati has taken a few bites out of the core before as well. We've already covered the bile between Cincinnati and the Red Bulls, and this week we take on the bluer side of the 5 Boroughs. Last season, it ended a bit sour with New York City FC marching into TQL Stadium and winning the rubber match to knock the Orange & Blue out of the playoffs. While Cincinnati brought in a ton of big-money talent in the offseason, NYCFC did the opposite by staying pat. The only major change came at the head coach role, with Nick Cushing exiting and Pascal Jansen taking over. How has that big change worked so far in New York? We invite Andrew from Hudson River Blue back to talk about the Pigeons and perhaps give us a few insights on visiting Citi Field for a match. (Perhaps he has a recommendation for matzo ball soup?)
