Hey, soccer fans! The MLS Playoffs are in full swing, and the Chicago Fire provided the most exciting match of the first round when they took Supporters' Shield winner Philadelphia Union to penalties, ultimately falling short of the upset. The Men in Red came out with a game plan to play ugly, slow things down, and look for counter-attack opportunities. Despite excuting well, the Fire found themselves in 2-0 hole late, but stormed back behind goals from Jonathan Bamba and Jack Elliott. This team never gives up. The offseason has well and truly begun for Sporting Kansas City as David Lee made his first official decisions as the new Chief Soccer Officer of the club moving on from at least 12 players from the 2025 roster, with one in negotiations to stay, leaving only 13 currently rostered players going into the 2026 season. This leaves a mountain of work to accomplish over the next 10 weeks as he and his staff look to reload this roster with players before preseason training begins in early January. While it is a significant endeavour, it is of course something we all expected and he certainly signed up for when taking on the job. Lee met with the media not long after the decisions were made public, and spent a good 25 minutes discussing the opportunities that the team has this offseason, his thoughts on the players remaining on the roster, as well as his thought process for identifying new players and the manager meant to coach them. There is a lot of work ahead, but Lee appeared to be a man not only aware of the task at hand, but also invigorated by potential it provided. We will dig into all of that information, adding our thoughts and context and what we hope for and expect to see from this offseason, as well as checking in on the beginning of the MLS Playoffs, as well as the USWNT as they gear up for their match in Kansas City against New Zealand. Cody - we no longer have to make any predictions or provide any personal opinions on which players should stay or go, those decisions have been made, and they largely aligned with what we both have been suggesting likely would and should happen once the season ended. To do a quick recap, 6 players had their options declined, who were Tim Leibold, Nemanja Radoja, Khiry Shelton, Mason Toye, and Ryan Schewe, who has since re-signed to a new contract with the club(more on this later)Additionally, 7 more players' contracts or loans expired and will not be returning, namely Joaquin Fernandez, Logan Ndenbe, Erik Thommy, Robert Voloder, Memo Rodriguez, Andrew Brody and Alan Montes. Santi Munoz' loan also expired but the club is looking into options for retaining his services.

We didn't know if we were going to watch the World Series, but two-thirds of us are sure glad we watched last night's 18-inning classic between the Dodgers and Blue Jays. The other third is still really glad they haven't watched a second of it. Did you watch? :30- There was a lot to watch last night between the World Series, Sounders playoff game and MNF, which we used as a scouting opportunity for the Hawks next opponent. The Seahawks and Commanders face off in Sunday Night Football and this isn't the same Commanders team we saw last year. They're beat up and without their starting QB, and defensively, they have been struggling, so while this may have looked like an L in August, it is looking like a winnable game if the Seahawks can play it right. :45- It's Halloween week and we have a costume idea for the Sounders. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
RICK NEUHEISEL (CBS Sports) makes his weekly visit to talk College Football. Is this new world of CFB coach firings sustainable? And if it's not, how does it get fixed? Coach has some strong thoughts! :30- The Ol Judge is here! - I'm not jealous of the Dodgers because they're World Champs, I'm jealous because they have Shohei. - After what we saw last night, the Commanders can't beat the Seahawks - There's no excuse for missing 3 of 5 penalty kicks in Major league soccer. :45- We close out Tuesday's show with one last thing! It's time to talk College Football and the Huskies got a much-needed win over Illinois at home on Saturday. They're on bye next weekend and if they can win out, it's not out of the question to think that they could end up in the CFP. Meanwhile, Jedd Fisch bristled at the idea that he is looking elsewhere with the big program head coaching opportunities that are out there. He's earned the reputation, but we like seeing him scoff at the idea of leaving Montlake.
