Midlife Crisis? Here's Why Real Men Don't Quit | The Patriarchy Podcast Midlife hits every man. Some run. Some rot. Real men fight. In this episode, Pastor Joseph Spurgeon sits down with Pastor Tim Bayly to expose the lies of the midlife crisis and show how Scripture calls men to age with strength, wisdom, and fire. Learn how to fight bitterness, keep your joy, lead younger men, and finish the race well. Stay in the fight. Real men don't quit.
In this episode, Pastor Tim Bayly is joined by his son, Joseph (Senior Pastor at Christ Church in Cincinnati), and son-in-law, Lucas Weeks (College and Administrative Pastor at Trinity Reformed Church in Bloomington, IN) to discuss parenting. We often think that our parenting is a failure if we have to resort to authority. That attitude is foolishness and an abandonment of God's rules for parenting. Our fears and modern psychologists have trained us to believe that authority is antithetical to having your child's heart. We must be reminded that if we intend to hold on to our children, obedience to God is the only way. No one would deny that mothers and fathers have duties regarding their children, but many are willing to dispute that children have duties regarding their parents. Parents ought to serve and love their children, but also children ought to serve and love their parents. ***Mentions during the show:First, the podcast starts out talking about this book: Hold On to Your Kids: Why Parents Need to Matter More Than Peersby Gordon Neufeld and Gabor MatéSecond, we mention this book:Shepherding a Child's Heartby Ted TrippThird, I read from this book:The Thing (the chapter I read from is titled, “The Drift from Domesticity”)by G. But he boasted in them, understanding they would only serve to display God's power all the more. This paradoxical truth is good news for the pastor who knows his sins and frailties.Pastor Tim Bayly is a member of Evangel Presbytery and formerly served as the senior pastor of Trinity Reformed Church in Bloomington, IN. He is the vice president of New Geneva Academy and the author of Daddy Tried, The Grace of Shame, Church Reformed, Elders Reformed, and The Helpful Marriage Book. Out of Our Minds is back with a new voice. Mr. Andrew Henry—entrepreneur, musician, and all-around curious man—will join Pastor Tim Bayly for the upcoming episodes. Sometime soon we'll have Mr. Henry introduce himself on the podcast.Today's episode answers, "Does it take a church to raise a child?" When parents enter new territory with teenagers, how can they teach their children to love the church? ThanksgivingPaul and Timothy, bond-servants of Christ Jesus,To all the saints in Christ Jesus who are in Philippi, including the overseers and deacons: Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.I thank my God in all my remembrance of you, always offering prayer with joy in my every prayer for you all, in view of your participation in the gospel from the first day until now. For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work among you will complete it by the day of Christ Jesus.

Audio from our 2021 Shepherds Conference: The Good Soldier. Session 5, "Soldiers Suffer," by Pastor Tim Bayly. Our ministry as pastors and elders is to join our Lord in His suffering for the sake of His bride. This suffering for love of the Church takes many forms, but any faithful soldier will find it unavoidable. The pastor who avoids suffering simply cannot be faithful to his calling. How can pastors prepare their hearts for the pain and trouble that God will send their way in the course of ministry? Is love the answer?2 Tim. 2:3 Suffer hardship with me...★ Support this podcast ★
Audio from our 2021 Shepherds Conference: The Good Soldier. Session 1, "The Pastor is a Soldier," by Pastor Tim Bayly.Ministry is warfare. Pastors are soldiers enlisted by the Lord: "Suffer hardship as a good soldier of Christ Jesus." Men who fight, command, and lead aren't popular today, but the pastor isn't working for popularity with women and men. He only has eyes for God. So he humbles himself to fight, but it's hard not to pick the wrong battles with the wrong enemies at the wrong times. Fighting takes the sort of wisdom that develops with time. Through an exposition of 2 Timothy 2:1-7, Pastor Bayly lays the groundwork for understanding ministry as warfare.★ Support this podcast ★

Support this podcast and Tim's ministry here! The World We Made is a new podcast series from Warhorn Media. It is hosted by Jake Mentzel and Nathan Alberson and features Pastor Tim Bayly, author of Daddy Tried and the forthcoming The Grace of Shame. Tim grew up in the '60s and '70s, and he has seen America and the world change. A lot. And, in some ways, his generation is responsible for much of the change, good and bad. In each episode, Tim brings his keen pastoral, cultural, and personal insight to the topics everyone is talking about. Season 1 is about homosexuality. How did we get from anti-sodomy laws in all 50 states (just 50 years ago) to where we are today? What exactly are the changes and what do they mean? What part did the culture play and what part did the church play? How are regular Bible-believing Christians supposed to respond? How do we witness God's love to a broken world without forsaking His truth?
