It’s a bug bear isn’t it? Exposition. I mean, in one sense we’re told to show and not tell but we also need our visitants to understand your worldbuilding, to feel like they can anticipate outcomes so they’re not caught flat footed (or we don’t fail to catch them flat footed when we need to). How do you go about telling your visitant about the world you’re creating? Seth and Marcos uncover some really powerful tools that will help you up your game with exposition, promote clarity and help your visitant settle in. So pop on the ear amplifiers of your choice and dive into another fantastic episode of the WorldCraft Club Podcast. He reasoned like this: you can’t have more than one king, and tradition demands that there is no gap between kings, so when a king dies the succession must therefore pass to the heir instantaneously. Presumably, he said, there must be some elementary particles — kingons, or possibly queons — that do this job, but of course succession sometimes fails if, in mid-flight, they strike an anti-particle, or republicon. His ambitious plans to use his discovery to send messages, involving the careful torturing of a small king in order to modulate the signal, were never fully expanded because, at that point, the bar closed. #15 - Played Out w/Kevin KautzmanComedic playwright/podcaster…podwriter? It's an emergent genre, and he's doing it. A Special mix from Yogi Beats in preparation for his upcoming LP on Played Out. Titled 'Jellystoned Park'. Listen/Buy here >>>> https://fanlink.to/POLP2JELLYSTONED Jellystoned Park follows on from the success of last year’s innovative visual mixtape collaboration, alongside rapper and fellow Played Out artist, JPDL. That project gave the world a fine insight into the talent that Yogi possesses, but this latest production showcase is a more definitive exploration of his approach to beat-making. Weighing in at 19 tracks, the album is a sample-driven trip through Yogi’s musical universe, where we find the Cheltenham-based producer drawing on a wealth of influences to craft each beat. For example, on Who Has The Time?, Yogi flips a Con Funk Shun sample, breathing new life into the 70’s classic and on Got Til It’s Gone, we hear the distinctive tones of Bojack Horseman, blended into crisp drums and wonky keys, while Jonie Mitchell and Q-Tip vocal samples float through the background.

We were recently joined in the studio by James Runde, a Madison Wisconsin based filmmaker and graduate of the Communication Arts department here at the UW. James has had four films in as many years at the Wisconsin Film Festival, starting with a short film at the 2016 Festival called WHITE AND LAZY. In 2017 he brought the super short animated piece, PATTI to the festival, in 2018 we premiered LESLIE a short that was comprised of a section of the nearly feature length effort that we showed at the 2019 Festival, that film is called PLAYED OUT and it won a prestigious Golden Badger Award for excellence in Wisconsin Filmmaking. Over the course of about an hour James and Ben Reiser discuss many things, from shooting on 16mm film to movies he loves, music he enjoys, the controversy surrounding the title of his WHITE AND LAZY film, and his thoughts on regional filmmaking. But our conversation begins with us teasing him about his recent revisions to PLAYED OUT and the idea of a final version of art in this digital age.
