Susan Kokinda has been politically active since 1968, when she was part of the Robert Kennedy presidential campaign in Oregon and California. She pivoted politically after that, and in the 1970's and 1980's was active in Washington, DC, defending Richard Nixon during Watergate, covering the White House during the Carter Administration, and working with Congress in support of President Reagan's Strategic Defense Initiative. With President Trump's 2016 victory, she knew it was time to return to Michigan. Since then, she has been organizing throughout the state, educating and building support for President Trump's commitment to make the U.S. a manufacturing superpower and to make the Republican Party the party of workers and producers. In March 2025, she was elected Coalitions Vice Chair of the Michigan Republican Party. She broadcasts on the Promethean Update YouTube channel and regularly reaches over 300,000 views. Her theme, along with her co-host Barbara Boyd, is that the real battle in the world is between the opposing principles of the American System and the British System, which represent two different images of man and society. She has been interviewed by OAN, Real America's Voice, Stephen Gardner, and numerous podcasters. The KunstlerCast theme music is the beautiful Two Rivers Waltz written and performed by Larry Unger
May 6, 2026 ~ Chris Renwick and Lloyd Jackson speak with Rusty Hills, former chair of the Michigan Republican Party and lecturer at the Gerald R. On our political radar this week… Michigan Republicans have turned their backs on the craziest of the MAGA crazies with hopes of at least one upset in November. But the leader in their race for Governor had a bad weekend. John James had some of the delegates booing him as he was introduced for his speech … much to the delight of septuagenarian perpetual candidate Perry Johnson. Volunteers manning a Rank MI Vote booth at the Michigan Republican Party’s endorsement convention this past weekend were asked to leave by party leaders and security after Rep. MAGA Matt Maddock told them their presence wasn’t welcome…and called them Communists. Rank MI Vote volunteers said they had paid the party for a booth under the name of the ballot question seeking to establish a ranked voting system in the state and wanted to talk with people who are politically active about their objective. The Michigan Court of Appeals which ruled that 37 absentee ballots for Mayor of Hamtramck should be counted … in an election that was otherwise decided by 11 votes. National Democrats have targeted two Michigan Republicans in Congress for retirement. “House Majority Forward” is running ads on the TSA mess at airports – pointing out that Bill Huizenga and Tom Barrett blocked legislation paying TSA agents … even though the bill they opposed was unanimously approved by the Senate. A new tabulation from the Huffington Post shows Donald Trump's nearly weekly golf trips to Florida have cost taxpayers $100-million in the last year. He is on track to hit nearly one-third of a billion dollars by the end of his term. The latest in the Trump ego-massage campaign: Trump shared the first images of his planned presidential library in downtown Miami, posting a short video that depicts a skyscraper which appears to be about 50 stories tall and filled with reconstructions of parts of the White House, military vehicles and at least two gold statues of Trump. Also included in plans for the gaudy Miami high rise: a hotel, golden escalators, gold doo-dads everywhere, displays attacking Barack Obama and Joe Biden, and the Boeing 747 given to Trump by the oil sheiks of Qatar. Probably missing from the high-rise library: books … and any mentions of Jeffrey Epstein. Another Trump stroking comes by way of Florida. Travelers in Palm Beach soon will be able to drive down President Donald J. Trump Boulevard to catch a flight at President Donald J. Trump International Airport, all in the shadow of nearby Mar-a-Lago, owned by President Donald J. Trump. Trump had a hat-trick of losses in court over the last week: construction on his half-billion-dollar ballroom has been paused, with the judge saying it needed congressional approval, another judge ruled the defunding of NPR and PBS was unconstitutional, and still another judge ruled that presidential immunity did not shield Trump from lawsuits growing out of the January 6 insurrection. And the Supreme Court seems poised to reject Trump’s abolishing of birthright citizenship. Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson calls bullshit on the latest Trump executive order which turns control of elections to the Post Office, Department of Justice and Homeland Security. Her immediate reaction: “States run elections, not the president. This executive order is illegal on its face.” Expect to hear from Dana Nessel and other Democratic state attorneys general about a lawsuit in the near future. There's seemingly no end to politics in our lives. It has even infiltrated sports. As we approach this weekend's Final Four in men's basketball, we take a deep dive into the intersection of Sports, Politics and Money with three-time Michigan Sportscaster of the Year Jack Ebling. He has covered college sports dating back to the days when Jim Harbaugh was the University of Michigan's quarterback and Earvin Johnson was a magical MSU freshman. Unlike ESPN's Stephen Smith, Jack’s take on political issues actually make sense … and he doesn't start screaming to make his point! A two-time graduate of MSU, the former English teacher and coach spent nearly a quarter-century as a beat writer and columnist for the Lansing State Journal and won 21 major writing awards before entering broadcasting in 2002. In addition to the sportswriting honors, Jack was named 2017 Michigan Broadcaster of the Year and was a 2006 inductee into the Greater Lansing Area Sports Hall of Fame. He has received 21 major state and national writing awards, authored or co-authored eight books and contributed more than 125 articles for national publications. He has hosted sports and news talk radio shows for nearly a quarter-century, including The Drive with Jack Ebling. Every Sunday evening since 2013, he has hosted Press Pass with Jack Ebling on FOX 47 in Lansing, the state’s longest-running hour-long, year-long sports TV show. We’re now on YouTube every week! Pollster Ed Sarpolus said Friday morning that the Michigan Republican Party doesn't believe GOP Congressman John James can win the 2026 governor's race.“Right now, Republicans want him out of the state, off the ballot — even the DeVos family is wavering,” Sarpolus, executive director of Target Insyght in Lansing, said on a live podcast, The Week That Was. (The discussion begins at the 43:46 mark of the video below.)Sarpolus said he's skeptical of a recent Republican poll that showed James not only leading his party in the primary but also ahead in a three-way general election race.Sarpolus and guest Beverly Watts, a public relations specialist, both said Republicans are looking for an alternative candidate to James. Some other Republicans in the race include Pastor Ralph Rebandt, Senate Minority Leader Aric Nesbitt, former House Speaker Tom Leonard and former Attorney General Mike Cox.Others on the show included host Saeed Khan; attorneys Steve Fishman and Joel Sklar; veteran journalist Nancy Derringer; and Deadline Detroit co-founder Allan Lengel.Fishman, a criminal defense attorney, discussed the gambling indictments unsealed Thursday in New York, one of which names former Detroit Pistons star Chauncey Billups.

Sequels are all the rage for Hollywood, and the same is true in Washington D.C. We're two weeks away from the official launch of the Trump-Musk administration and even before inauguration, chaos and lies return to D.C. The chaos: an intra-MAGA war over immigration, with co-president-elect Musk raging over the possible loss of the right to import lower-wage tech support for his companies whiles MAGAs fume. And we had a messy start to the legislative session as Mike Johnson wins underwhelming but enough support for staying on as Speaker. The lies: the other co-president offers alternative facts in falsely linking the horrific terrorist attack in New Orleans to his obsession over immigration on the southwest border. The terrorist was a U.S. born military veteran … but you'd think from Trump's statements he had snuck into the country from Mexico. Mike Luckovich - Atlantia Journal Constitution Topping Michigan's political news: the state's Democrats are uniting around Curtis Hertel Jr. as the new party chair, and the contenders for national party chair will begin their series of public debates next week in Detroit. In the latter contest, there are signs that a 24-year-old activist will be elected vice chair, with Parkland mass shooting survivor David Hogg scoring major points with his ideas for year-round party building. Join America's Roundtable (https://americasrt.com/) radio co-hosts Natasha Srdoc and Joel Anand Samy with distinguished guest Ambassador Peter Hoekstra. The conversation focuses on key issues affecting American families and communities as the country continues to experience persistent higher prices for food and gas. A published report by The Wall Street Journal said, "Yet since January 2021 electricity prices have soared 29.4%—about 50% more than overall inflation." The Wall Street Journal in a report on July 3, 2024 stated, "The Fed raised rates at the fastest pace in 40 years in 2022 and 2023 to combat inflation that also rose to a four-decade high. They have held their benchmark rate in a range between 5.25% and 5.5% since last July." This discussion on America's Roundtable also provides an update on foreign policy issues impacting America. David Waldman missed President Joe Biden's State of the Union speech live last night. That's ok, somebody probably recorded it, and he can watch their copy. David missed Joe giving them hell. This might have been Biden's long-awaited pivot point! It is definitely his Republican talking point's pivot from “Sleepy!” to “He's so mean to us!”, which is a good thing. Now the talk can move from vibes, to issues, from rhetoric to solutions, for you know, “kitchen table issues”… Which brings us to the Gop SOTU Rebuttal, which used a “kitchen”, sort of, with a couple of added props, including one that talked and said very kitchen-y things. Of course, their viewership doesn't usually require that much in production value, as long as they can hear their secret catch-phrases. Like when they heard that a migrant finally killed a pretty white girl, they probably popped champagne over at RNC headquarters. Another pretty white girl, Sydney Sweeney, confused MAGA by being “funny”, and they just don't get jokes. Sweeney recently appeared on Saturday Night Live, and on that very show they said the word “boobs” at least twice, so all is forgiven. Sydney can keep supporting Hollywood's vast freelance under caste. Are you better off now than four years ago? Donald Trump definitely was. Trump will finally pay his legal fees and bail bonds, at least once the RNC's checks clear. Unfortunately for Steve KG Bannon, he's not on Laura Trump's gift list. Lastly, let's look in on the Michigan Republican Party and their evil twin, still locked in a death grip, yet not quite off the edge of the cliff.
This week in politics starts, of course, with Michigan's Presidential Primary. The primary has Biden and Trump winning by a bunch — but both campaigns see warning signs for November. Also this week: Sneaker salesman Trump graciously accepts victory by calling Gretchen Whitmer “a terrible governor who sold you out”, and UAW president Shawn Fein “atrocious" A state court has, for now, put Kristina Karamo out to political pasture, but the fight for control of what's left of the Michigan Republican Party goes on Michigan born-and-bred Ronna Romney McDaniel admits the obvious: she's officially another victim of Trump's one-way loyalty Former Michigan Congressman Mike Rogers is trying to rewrite his legislative history sponsoring legislative mirroring last week's Alabama ruling that embryos are people Joining the podcast is Lou Glazer, head of the economic think tank Michigan Future, a non-partisan, non-profit organization. Michigan Future's mission is to be a source of new ideas on how Michigan can succeed as a world class community in a knowledge-driven economy. Its work is funded by Michigan foundations. Glazer currently is heading efforts to implement a new agenda designed to raise household income for all. It's Thursday and David Waldman and Greg Dworkin are here asking questions that you didn't know you had, with answers that you didn't know you needed. But now you do! We remain under a cloud of mass shootings. The Kansas City Super Bowl Parade shooting took place on the 6th anniversary of the Parkland shooting. And it took place on the 16th anniversary of the Northern Illinois University shooting. And 2 days ago, was the anniversary of the Michigan State shooting. And next Monday will be 12 years since Alabama-Huntsville and 2 years since Portland and 17 since Bethel Alaska and… pretty cloudy. It's all a nightmare, but at least we have Gop failure to cheer us. MAGA is a schadenfreude conveyor belt overflowing with potentially endless delights whipped up by Chef de Àne Donald Trump and his bumbling assistant Mike Johnson. It's not all Republicans stepping on rakes and falling into their own Burmese Tiger traps, though. A lot of this is happening because Democrats are beating them. It's time for President Joe Biden to reveal that there's a sun behind the clouds. Apparently, Republicans cribbed their ideas from Eastern Europe. In the meantime, Donald Trump heads from all of his civil courts to the first of his criminal courts this March 25. Pete Hoekstra takes over the Authentic No. 1 Michigan Republican Party, just down the street from Kristina Karamo's A-1 Original Michigan Republican Party. Republicans probably expect that Russian space nukes might overshadow all of their bad news… and they could be correct. The Mayorkas impeachment has done all of the damage that they could expect to get out of it. Let's pop a couple for William “Bill” Post, inventor of the Pop Tart and quite possibly a Keebler Elf...
The Michigan Supreme Court has refused to review a case that sought to ban Donald Trump from having his name placed on the Republican primary ballot in Michigan. This ruling is unsurprising given the unique election laws and procedures in Michigan. If the Michigan Republican Party wants to place a name on its presidential primary ballot, it can put any name it likes, including someone who may otherwise be disqualified from holding public office. That may make little sense, but each state has the right to enact its own election laws and regulations, and Michigan has chose a . . . curious way to go about things. Notably, the Michigan Secretary of State has no legal authority to reject Trump's name even though he engaged in an insurrection. So the Michigan Supreme Court opted to not review the case, as it involved no violation of Michigan election laws. However, if Trump were to win the Republican nomination, the suit will be refiled and the court may then HAVE to review and resolve the case. Indeed, the attorney who brought the case on behalf of the Michigan voters has said he will refile the case if Trump ends up being the Republican nominee. If you're interested in supporting our all-volunteer efforts and mission, you can becoming a Team Justice patron at: / glennkirschner For our Team Justice and Justice Matters merchandise visit:https://shop.spreadshirt.com/glennkir...Check out Glenn's website at glennkirschner.comFollow Glenn on:Threads: https://www.threads.net/glennkirschner2Twitter: https://www.twitter.com/glennkirschner2Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/glennkirschner2Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/glennkirsch...See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.
