When God reveals His perfect will for your life, you can begin the steps of commitment. So, the question to ask yourself today is: WHO are you committed to? Really – Who are YOU committed to? When our life is committed to Jesus Christ, our body is dedicated as a living sacrifice to God and we are transformed by the Word of God. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/deanna-fullerton/message
A potential client said to me, "I just want my website to be informational. I'm not selling anything." Really? Who has a business that isn't selling anything? If your website isn't selling, why even bother? Here's why.
Yes - It's rare but we actually have some good news today. Congress has just passed a bill that will allow terminally ill people with no alternative to try new drugs not yet approved by the FDA. This comes down to property rights. You own your body and you ought to be able to do whatever you want with it. Shockingly there are Democrats in Washington who believe this is a bad thing because it might give people false hope. Really? Who cares! They're dying anyway. Let them have any amount of hope they can. Maybe the placebo effect will take over and they'll be healed by their own mind. :-) Regardless, to deny someone access to drugs because you want to protect them from themselves is both immoral and reprehensible. ***We're also going to discuss the benefits of a flat tax today as a way of keeping government accountable. I think maybe I can hit you with an angle you hadn't considered. Don't forget to like and share the show!! Jason Support the show.
Earlier this year, rapper Calvin Broaddas, aka Snoop Dogg released the album, “The Bible of Love.” This was his attempt at producing a Gospel album. After listening to it, I have come to the conclusion he succeeded mightily. First of all, a lot of what is called “Christian” or “Gospel” music is neither. It may be Biblically-based but it doesn’t rest on the Finished Work of the Cross. “Whoa, dude!” you say, “What do you mean by that?” Simple. When you’re begging for the spirit of God to show up. When you ask God to have mercy on you, a sinner. When you ask God to extend Grace to you. I could go on but He has done all of these things. God poured out his mercy and Grace to us and has spiritually taken up residence inside us. But back to the subject — People are mad because they say an unrepentant sinner such as Snoop has no business making a Gospel album. Really? Who judges Snoop? I know I don’t. And, I’m going to take a step out and say that Snoop was praising God even before he made this album. Whaaaaaat? God gave Snoop his talent and he shares it with the world. That’s what God gives us our talents and abilities for — to share them. It’s when we sit on them that I believe God is saddened. Listen, God is not so narcissistic that everything has to be an ode to Him. God was God and was satisfied with being God even before He made any of us. So God doesn’t “need” our worship as religion defines it but gets it by the expression of our gifts and talents. That said, there’s a plethora of Christian artists who participated in the production of this musical collection. The Clark Sisters. John P. Kee. Tye Tribbett. Rance Allen. Surely one or more of them might have an issue with Snoop’s thuggery or cannabis consumption. I used to judge people to be hypocrites when they produce music or other media that was “lewd” by the standards of religion, then turn around and “give God glory” when receiving an award. I realized that I was the hypocrite for judging them. Watch this, by expressing their talents, they are giving God glory. It doesn’t matter what the genre — as long as it doesn’t explicitly reject God! The Bible says “let everything that have breath, praise the Lord.” Because everything living is His creation, breathing praises God! Religious folks will say that Snoop is unqualified to preach the Gospel. By that standard, who is qualified? Who does the qualifying? The same people who think it requires a ThD and the same people who proclaim women can’t preach. The reality is that Mark 16:15 gives every believer the responsibility of preaching the Gospel. This means that every believer is qualified. Contrary to popular belief, God is concerned more with our belief than our behavior. So Snoop smokes weed? Where in Scripture is that even identified as a sin? It’s funny that some of the same people who criticize Snoop’s smoking are morbidly obese — and it has nothing to do with the size of their bones. Another point, who gets to decide who is actually a believer? John 13:34-35 says that love is the hallmark of discipleship, not behavior. Some of the people who don’t cuss, smoke, or chew, and don’t run around with those who do exhibit nothing that looks like love. So where is the love for Snoop Dogg? Instead of reminding him of how loved he is by the Father and blessing him for taking the Gospel places religion cannot, he is condemned and chided for having the audacity to “blaspheme God” by making a Gospel album. Matter of fact, most of the people who level accusations against him — which, by the way, is a tactic of the devil — have never even bothered to listen to his album or any interviews with him Right now, there are thugs and gangsters that are grooving to this mix. And the Holy Spirit is ministering to them in ways tradition and religion cannot. And instead of seeing the Body of Christ galvanized in support of this, what the unsaved sees is more division.
Pastor Mike just began a series on HEROES in the Bible, emphasizing they are "Just Like Us." Really? Who believes "I am the same as Moses, David, Ruth, or Paul?" The first hero we heard about was Moses. As Pastor Mike was talking about Moses' power encounter with God in the burning bush (Exodus 3), he pointed out that God introduced Himself as "I Am that I Am." To which Pastor Mike asked all of us, "Are you ever nervous that God is the same God?" Most of us would respond, "I haven't seen the fire yet!" Is that your story? Are you waiting to see the fire, wondering if God is the same God?
In this episode of Talus Media Talks, we're talking the latest recommendations on clinical education. Our guest is Kathy Mairella, previous American Physical Therapy Association Board of Directors, and liaison to the task force that is recommending standardized clinical education and mandatory residency. We take on the following questions: What was the role of the task force? Mandatory residency? Really? Who were the stakeholders in this? What was the thought process behind this report? Organic & locally grown? At a gas station?? Really??? Who ever heard of organic, locally grown, healthy nutritious fast-ish food at a ... gas station?? Meet Jake Angel, Executive Chef of Jake’s Pickup, a restaurant / diner / dive at the Chevron gas station at the corner of highway 305 and High School Rd. In this mouth-watering interview, Jake tells BCB host Channie Peters how and why he has brought this new paradigm of healthy wholesome cuisine to a gas station food store on Bainbridge Island. He describes what healthy delicious fare he offers up six days a week to everyone from the ferry traveler, to local regulars at the counter, to those of us needing a break from cooking. Jake’s kitchen sources their ingredients from local farms, local breweries and even local hens. The pizza dough, buns and bread for his signature pulled pork sandwiches and hamburgers are baked fresh by Jake and his mother every morning with organic flour and local eggs. And beware the sconut, a cross between a scone and a donut, invented by Jake and baked daily with organic flour and eggs laid by local hens. This is truly a family business. Working at Jake’s Pickup are Jake’s mother, his sister, Roxanne, and occasionally his nieces (who are still too young to wield a knife in the kitchen). Learn more about Jake and Jake’s Pickup at his website where you’ll also find menus for eating in or picking up. And, for more conversations on local dining -- plus stories of local foods, farming and gardening -- tune in for additional episodes of Tastes of Bainbridge on BCB. First things first: this was probably the most fun I’ve had working through an STS monograph. (Really: Who doesn’t like reading about Jurassic Park and King Kong?) In addition to being full of wonderful anecdotes about the film and television industries, David Kirby‘s Lab Coats in Hollywood: Science, Scientists, and Cinema (MIT Press, 2011) is also a very enlightening exploration of the role of science consultants on television and in film, and the negotiations of expertise involved in relationships between scientists and the cinema. Scholars of STS will recognize some of the major themes that Kirby raises in the course of a fascinating look behind the scenes of the cinematic production of “science”: negotiated definitions of accuracy and plausibility, technologies of virtual witnessing, the social construction of knowledge. Many of the chapters will change the way you see representations of scientists and their work in the movies and on TV, and Kirby’s description of the filmic use of “diegetic prototypes,” or cinematic depictions of future technologies, is a stand-alone contribution in itself. This is a must-read for anyone interested in popular representations of science. Kirby describes the ways that visual media interpret, naturalize, and engage with scientific theories (be they well-accepted, controversial, or fantastical), and how some scientists in turn manipulate cinematic depictions for their own ends. Plus, have I mentioned how much fun it is? Check out David’s recent discussion of the film Prometheus! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Jeff, Carrie and Gonch review this week's news in the amusement industry. We're a little out of practice. KP Connection posts off-season photos from Kennywood. Gonch reviews a bit about the new roller coaster there. Jeff wishes there were more local fan sites for amusement parks. The Disney Dream is like a theme park. Carrie talks about cruises as disease infested capsules. Gonch wants a Fastpass off the boat. Disney worker arrested for allegedly luring a woman to the resort and raping her. The story doesn't add up very well according to what has been reported. Cedar Fair gets some credit lubrication. Lubrication is what makes business go. SeaWorld ready to put trainers back in the water. It has been a year, but Jeff wants to hear more about the safeguards. It will always be dangerous, that's part of the job. Six Flags America gets a "Survivor" live show. Really? Who actually watches anything on CBS? Ferrari World pats itself on the back for 100 days of operation. Take that, Freestyle! Six Flags has a very profitable 2010. We think Shapiro really laid the groundwork for that success. And by the way, Gonch thinks that Six Flags America has a nice coaster lineup. Jeff wonders if he ever mentioned that he was on Superman when the chain broke. Battlestar Galactica dueling roller coaster finally reopens at Universal Singapore. Eleven months seems like a long time to fix a problem. Aside: Remember ragging on Vekoma? Las Vegas entertains the idea of a new amusement park. Jeff can't stand cab drivers that take you stupid ways. Cheetah Chase is looking like "the" ride for the year. It's like a long Maverick, sort of. Dorney is getting another hand-me-down ride, this time from California's Great America. Disney is spending a billion dollars on tech to make your day more efficient and more action packed. What's with people who are worried about doing every last thing when they go to Disney World? Some people suck at vacations. Lo-Q has a more profitable year. Funny how everything other than the unemployment rate implies that the economy is improving. Cedar Fair charges a buck an inch for a crappy sub. And they're surprised that their per cap is down? Universal Orlando's grand achievement, in the form of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, has amazing results for the year. No shocker there. Stay tuned... we're announcing something new very soon.
