The foremost health authority, the contrarian, and voice of reason is spouting this level of misinformation, so I think it deserves the acronym: A-Y-F-K-M. Dr. Layne Norton, internet health influencer and self-titled Truth Seeker and debunker, has delivered the single worst piece of fitness advice imaginable. There is no more potentially destructive message to convey besides telling people to push through fatigue, crappy workouts, and poor movement patterns. So inspired by the Debunker himself, I'm going after you. Layne Norton has a PhD in nutritional sciences, a background as a champion powerlifter and bodybuilder, and is known for debunking fitness misinformation and pseudoscience. But recently, he posted one of his many deadlift clips with the message that training is like investing in the stock market. He even detailed a week of “moving crappy,” “moving really crappy,” and being “happy” about grinding it out anyway. Here’s what you will learn from this episode: Why pushing through fatigue and poor form is a recipe for injury, burnout, and attrition The flaws with the dated no pain, no gain mentality that simply won’t die Exercise physiology insights: ATP, lactate, glycolysis, and aerobic energy systems Why the anaerobic system requires extensive rest and recovery, not grinding through bad workouts Technical failure versus pushing to failure, and why form matters most Interesting science-based insights on the power of performing theatrics before a peak performance effort and why lighter weight and excellent form are the real win Deadlifting dangers, proper technique, and why novices should get expert guidance Finally, you will hear about what you should do when experiencing symptoms of suboptimal recovery and the value of applying an intuitive approach—especially when it comes to times that you “just don’t feel like it” and what that feeling can signify (hint: it has to do with your emotions and your central nervous system). TIMESTAMPS: Dr. Layne Nortron is known for debunking some of the science that is out there telling us what is good to eat. [01:03] Brad confronts one of Layne's posts about training and recovery. Layne treats training like investing. [04:39] Elites manage their energy very carefully every single day, week, month of training. [10:02] ATP, the source for immediate explosive efforts lasting from zero to seven seconds, becomes completely exhausted after seven seconds [14:33] Working through crappy form and feeling horrible during your warmup is in direct opposition to how the anaerobic system develops. [20:59] Doug McGuff has come up with the Big Five Workout strategy, which you do only once a week that keeps you strong. [31:47] If you attempt to work through crappy form and low scores on the readiness-to-train scale, you are training the central nervous system to fire less explosively and teaching your brain to be able to left ledds weight. [35:38] Pavel Tsatsouline explains why he doesn't see the point of training to muscular failure. [38:37] Six sets of three is the same as three sets of six, but you get less tired. [40:45] Brad critiques Layne's analogy of exercising is like the stock market. [43:56] Performing theatrics before a peak performance effort actually does help prime the centtral nervous system for peak performance. [45:41] You want to preserve a straight and elongated spine with eveything you do in the gym. [50:06] Deadlifting is a random exercise and potentially dangerous. If you're novice, get that trusted expert for one-on-one instruction before you even try. [58:19] Beware of internet blather from influencers. [01:01:21] Always take what your body gives you each day and nothing more. [01:02:06] LINKS: Brad Kearns.com BradNutrition.com B.rad Whey Protein Superfuel - The Best Protein on The Planet! Rylan Schadegg was a beloved member of both the OCR and hybrid racing communities! Our paths had crossed numerous times during our coverage of obstacle course racing and he stood out as always being very kind and respectful. We were devastated to hear the news of his passing and we wanted to do something for those that loved him. We first had him on the show in September 2022 after winning the Spartan North American Championship but we had the chance to meet him and having him on the show in person at both OCRWC and the Spartan Palmerton 3K Series race. He had words during our first interview with him that have been echoing in my head since I heard of his loss so we figured that we would reair that interview. Here are some of many other posts dedicated to him: OCRWC, Spartan Race, Hybrid Fitness Media, The OCR Report, DEKA, Hyrox, Jack Bauer, Dave Claxton, Jarrett Newby, Brett Milks, Jake, and Andre Bravo. Bread and Circus Keeps you Financially Ignorant – Its Better for the Elites w/ Chris Russo - SarahWestall.com
CONTINUED Victor Davis Hanson's book, The Dying Citizen: How Progressive Elites, Tribalism, and Globalization Are Destroying the Idea of America, argues that the foundational principles of American citizenship and the nation's success are being eroded by these forces. A central theme of Hanson's work is the critical importance of the middle class, a concept he traces back to classical Greece and Rome. Drawing on Aristotle, Hanson highlights that a state's good fortune depends on citizens having "moderate and sufficient property," enabling autonomy and self-reliance. The middle class, combining "muscles with mind," traditionally served as the "soldiers of the republic" and were "skeptical of government." Unlike the poor, who risk dependency on "bread and circuses" from the government or wealthy patrons, or the rich, who "inevitably use their wealth to tamper with politics," the middle class is self-reliant and less susceptible to these extremes. This ideal, initially embodied by the independent farmer as envisioned by figures like Thomas Jefferson, was later translated into the "shopkeeper or the independent trucker or the traveling salesman" in post-industrial America, maintaining their autonomy. However, this middle class has recently experienced a decline in real wages, with any brief gains quickly eroded by inflation. Hanson posits that America is experiencing a "hollowing out" of its middle class, reminiscent of the decline of the Roman Empire, which was ultimately reduced to two classes: the extremely wealthy and those dependent on handouts. He cites California as a contemporary example, describing it as a "medieval society" with vast wealth alongside a dependent "peasant class," as millions of middle-class citizens have reportedly fled the state. The Obama administration's "Pajama Boy" and "Life of Julia" campaigns are presented as symbols of this shift, promoting a "nanny entitlement state" where the government provides for individuals from birth, reducing the need for traditional self-reliance, marriage, or property ownership. This, Hanson suggests, reflects a Democratic Party agenda that has "written off the working middle class" in favor of a "bicoastal elite" and big government. Globalization, particularly through immigration policy, is identified as another destructive force. The Hart-Celler Act of 1965 is criticized for dismantling meritocracy, prioritizing family relationships and proximity to the border over skills or English fluency. This, driven by an "unholy alliance" of the Democratic Party seeking new constituents and the Republican Party desiring cheap labor, has led to a massive influx of non-native-born and illegal residents. The Simpson-Mazzoli Act of 1986 also failed, as promises of border security were not kept, and employer verification mechanisms were easily circumvented. Hanson asserts that the absence of a secure border fundamentally undermines U.S. citizenship. He highlights how increased numbers of immigrants, coupled with lax voting laws, have politically impacted states like California, Nevada, New Mexico, and Colorado, which have "flipped" to the Democratic Party. The desire for "dignity," as expressed by a legal immigrant named Mr. Rojas, underscores the allure of American equality compared to the social stratification in countries like Oaxaca, Mexico. Furthermore, Hanson addresses the rise of the "unelected," or "deep state," which he describes as a "permanent investigative bureaucratic class" with "contempt for the people" and an ability to undermine elected government. Examples range from the obscure Raisin Administrative Committee, which dictates what farmers can do with their crops, to high-ranking officials in agencies like the FBI and CIA who felt empowered to act outside accountability. The concept of "la resistance," adopted by some bureaucrats after Donald Trump's election, saw individuals like Kevin Clinesmith and "Anonymous" actively seeking to undermine the administration, with even a Georgetown Law Schoolprofessor, Rosa Brooks, publicly contemplating a military coup. Finally, Hanson criticizes the "nullification" of federal law, exemplified by "sanctuary cities" that refuse to cooperate with federal immigration enforcement, creating an "asymmetrical" system where such actions are condoned for the left but condemned as "insurrection" for the right. He also argues that impeachment, designed as a constitutional check, has been "distorted" and "abused" into a political "campaign strategy," particularly in the two impeachments of Donald Trump. This has set a "terrible precedent," potentially leading to further political weaponization of constitutional mechanisms.

IN PLAIN SIGHT: A Memoir Infused with Military Psychological Operations"What if Mars' nuclear ghosts are screaming a warning—and Earth isn't listening?"Jonathan Mark Haber's life has been a collision with hidden truths. Born in 1950s Brooklyn, he came of age as the assassinations of JFK, MLK, and RFK shattered America's illusions—igniting his lifelong mission to dissect power. From draft resistance to founding Flyby News, Haber exposes how governments weaponize perception to bury inconvenient truths. Then came the revelation that rewrote history.Bart Jordan—a Manhattan Project physicist and NASA insider—revealed a nuclear detonation in Mars' Cydonia region, home to the infamous "Face" and "Signature Site 10" monuments. NASA data confirmed it: Martian atmospheric Xenon-129 isotopes—at twice the concentration of Earth's post-nuclear tests—proved a planet-wide apocalypse. But the deeper shock? The monuments' geometry encoded a warning: the distances of Mars' moons (Phobos and Deimos—"fear" and "terror") formed a temple-like formula, a cosmic plea against the abuse of light. This wasn't just science. It was a survival manual from a lost civilization.Interwoven with Haber's battles against chronic pain, kidney failure, and systemic deception, In Plain Sight bridges memoir and manifesto. It exposes:The PSYOP playbook (Apollo's illusions, 9/11's unanswered questions, COVID-19's psy-warfare).Elites repeating Mars' fatal mistakes—ignoring the *Xenon-129* red flag.UAPs and nuclear sites: Evidence that something—ancient AI or interstellar guardians—is forcing humanity to confront its self-destruction.In Plain Sight is more than a memoir—it's a manual for awakening. Because truth is the first casualty of war, and the first step toward peace. He explains why money is the “blood of society,” how Nixon's 1971 decision to abandon the gold standard set the stage for endless inflation, and why fiat money is driving inequality, debt, and the anger fuelling populist revolts from Trump's Rust Belt to Javier Milei in ArgentinaThey trace the story back to Bretton Woods, Roosevelt's gold confiscation, and the technocrats who used paper money to expand the modern state. Frisby warns that today's bloated governments, trapped in debt and endless money-printing. For 5,000 years civilizations have told themselves stories of progress. Today, the progress myth has become humanity's most dangerous illusion. Samuel Miller McDonald, geographer and author of Progress: A History of Humanity's Worst Idea, illuminates the destructive lineage of progress, why these myths endure, how they enable socially and ecologically parasitic societies, and what values might guide us beyond them. Highlights include: How narratives of progress have persisted from Mesopotamia to today, and how those narratives have persisted even as the means of material subsistence and political economy have changed enormously over time; How the progress narratives of today are primarily divided into four camps: techno-liberal, Silicon Valley's android kingdom, the social justice vanguard, and right-wing grifters and political opportunists; How the ecological, energy exchange relationships of mutualism, commensalism, and parasitism offer a framework for understanding human societies' concrete and abstract energy capture historically and in the present; Why long-lived societies tend to be mutualistic or commensalistic with animistic, biophilic worldviews and egalitarian practices, while parasitic societies collapse due to the ecological and social destruction they cause; How parasitism has evolved across three broad ages of mythical, secular, and today's economistic, fossil-fueled, and globalized capitalist network; Why neoliberalism, the latest economistic project, is so resilient - and how it prioritizes economic growth over political rights, co-opts reformist movements and exploits the human cooperative impulse while entrenching corporate power at the expense of democracy; Why elite fantasies of transhumanism and off-planet escape are dangerous and delusional extensions of parasitic growthism; What more mutualistic and commensalistic alternative paths forward might look like, from agroecological local systems and rewilding to indigenous land rights, fossil fuel bans, rejecting AI, and class struggle - all guided by values of biophilia, fairness, and restraint. The podcast explores needed narrative, behavioral, and system shifts for recreating human life in balance with all life on Earth. With expert guests from wide-ranging disciplines, we examine the forces underlying overshoot: from patriarchal pronatalism that is fueling overpopulation, to growth-biased economic systems that lead to consumerism and social injustice, to the dominant worldview of human supremacy that subjugates animals and nature. Our vision of shrinking toward abundance inspires us to seek pathways of transformation that go beyond technological fixes toward a new humanity that honors our interconnectedness with all beings. In this week's episode of The More Freedom Foundation Podcast, hosts Robert Morris and Ruairi take a hard look at the many layers of Trump's corruption. From shady crypto scams to using the official White House website to push his personal merchandise, Trump consistently blurred the line between public service and private profit. But this isn't just about one man's grift. We dig into the role of short-sighted oligarchs — in the U.S. and abroad — who built the environment that allowed Trump's corruption to thrive. Their greed and willingness to put profit above principle created fertile ground for authoritarianism, and we're still dealing with the consequences today. If you want a clear-eyed breakdown of Trump's corruption and the system that made it possible, this is an episode you won't want to miss.PatreonWebsiteBooksTwitterTikTok

Est-il le donc le plus grand phénomène de l'histoire du vélo ? Paul Seixas nourrit tous les rêves des fans de vélo et de sport qui veulent y voir un potentiel vainqueur du Tour de France. While most people are distracted by headlines, a hidden war is raging between Trump, the media, activist judges, and the global elites pulling the strings. From Disney's cultural propaganda to FCC battles over biased networks, Chinese cash infiltrating elections, and judicial roadblocks stopping reform—this fight is about more than politics, it's about who controls America's future. I break down what's really happening behind the curtain, why the stakes are higher than ever, and how this unseen battle impacts every one of us.
As the popularity of the United States Democratic Party reaches historic lows, author Joan Williams argues that the party's elitism is still pushing people away. Williams is the founder of the Equality Action Center at the College of Law at the University of California at San Francisco and author of Outclassed: How the Left Lost the Working Class and How to Win Them Back. She tells host Steve Clemons that, unless the Democrats realign themselves with the people, they will continue to founder and voters will continue to flock to populists. Joe Untamed tackles two urgent battles shaping America's future: the rise of radical Islamist influence and the war over truth in public health. Robert Spencer, renowned scholar and director of Jihad Watch, joins us to break down the growing presence of Islamist ideology in U.S. communities—from mass gatherings in Michigan to city councils now dominated by Muslim politicians. What does this mean for American law, culture, and national security? Spencer peels the onion back on the elites enabling this transformation and warns what's at stake if we continue down this path unchecked. Then, Dr. Robert Malone—the original inventor of mRNA vaccine technology—returns to reveal how entrenched bureaucrats and Big Pharma allies are weaponizing science against the American people. With new developments inside HHS and RFK Jr.'s sweeping reforms, Malone exposes the deep state's retaliation, the dangers of indemnifying industries like RNA pesticides, and the long-term health consequences hidden from public view. From vaccine schedules to regulatory corruption, his insights strike at the heart of America's medical and political crises. Together, Spencer and Malone highlight the same underlying truth: powerful elites, whether in religion, government, or corporate boardrooms, are eroding American freedom from within. This is not just about foreign threats or public health—it's about the survival of liberty itself. Tonight's show is a wake-up call, offering clarity, urgency, and solutions for anyone ready to stand against the forces trying to reshape America in their image.

【聊了什么The What】 HBO 新片Mountainhead是《继承之战》编剧 Jesse Armstrong 的导演初作。 Mountainhead, HBO's new film, marks the directorial debut of Succession writer Jesse Armstrong. This time, he shifts the camera from East Coast media dynasties to West Coast tech titans. The story follows four former friends and tech moguls spending a weekend at a luxury mountain estate in Utah, while the outside world descends into chaos—triggered by political disinformation generated by an AI tool they helped create. From the comfort of their hilltop villa, they debate power, technology, the future of humanity, and how to prolong their own lives—even resisting death by uploading their consciousness. In this episode, we talk about the arrogance and fragility of tech elites, the rise of Effective Accelerationism (e/acc) in Silicon Valley, the political ambitions of the tech world—from the All-In Podcast to Trump's inauguration—and why reality has become more sci-fi than fiction, making it harder than ever for creators to tell these stories. Only a few years separate HBO's Silicon Valley and Mountainhead, but in that short span, the world—and tech—has changed in ways no one could have scripted. 03:39 Our favorite screenwriter turns our Twitter storylines into a movie 08:15 How the four protagonists are “stitched together” from real-life Silicon Valley moguls 15:56 The ideological shift in Silicon Valley: from business logic to religious belief 32:29 Tech elites' thirst for power: “The Cathedral,” “Founder Sovereignty,” and “Luxury Beliefs” 42:30 The Tech Bro dilemma—craving power while dodging responsibility 54:29 The new disguise of power and why we must remain vigilant 【拓展链接 The Links】 小华提到的漫画:“参议院的老板们”——1889 【疲惫红书 CyberRed】 除了播客以外,疲惫娇娃的几个女的在小红书上开了官方账号,我们会不定期发布【疲惫在读】、【疲惫在看】、【疲惫旅行】、【疲惫Vlog】等等更加轻盈、好玩、实验性质的内容。如果你想知道除了播客以外我们在关注什么,快来小红书评论区和我们互动。 Apart from the podcast, we have set up an official account on Xiaohongshu.
