Leading evangelical seminary plans move from United States to Canada.Trinity Evangelical Divinity School rose to prominence in the 1960s and 1970s under its second dean, Kenneth Kantzer. Its renowned faculty—including Don Carson, Walt Kaiser, John Woodbridge, Wayne Grudem, and Carl F. H. Henry—helped American evangelicals recover from the fundamentalist/modernist controversies of the early 20th century, as well as the inerrancy dispute that erupted at Fuller Theological Seminary in 1962.By the early 21st century, TEDS alumni, including David Wells, Mark Noll, Doug Moo, and Craig Blomberg, held research positions in other seminaries, while Michael Oh led the Lausanne Movement.Long plagued with financial problems, TEDS leaders announced in April they would close the campus north of Chicago after the current school year as they merge with and relocate to Trinity Western University in British Columbia. Kevin Vanhoozer announced that instead of moving to Canada, he would join the faculty at Wheaton College's Litfin Divinity School. In other blows to the long-standing influence of Chicago-area theological education, Northern Seminary struggled through a presidential transition, and Trinity Christian College announced its closure after more than 60 years. The balance of evangelical power in the United States continues to shift to the South. For more information about this group, please visit their website at reformationboise.com. In the latest episode of iGaming Daily, host Charlie Horner, is joined by SBC News's Ted Orme-Claye and Editor-at-Large, Ted Menmuir, to dive into taxation within the iGaming industry, with a sharp focus on the UK and broader European markets. As governments across the region consider or implement tax hikes, the trio break down the motivations driving these changes, from shifting political priorities to increased regulatory scrutiny. The conversation then turns to the real-world implications of these tax increases for iGaming operators. How are companies adapting their strategies to maintain profitability amid tighter fiscal conditions? What are the likely impacts on product offerings, market budgets, and long-term growth plans? Charlie and the two Teds weigh in with expert analysis and examine how industry leaders are publicly responding to these shifts. Finally, the episode explores the broader consequences for the competitive landscape. Could smaller operators be pushed out of the market? Will consolidation accelerate? And what role will innovation play in helping companies stay ahead? All this and more on today's episode of iGaming Daily, brought to you by Optimove. In the past month, two of the most respected evangelical training institutions in the world have closed or announced closure of their campuses. In July, Spurgeon's College in London—a pillar of Baptist theological education for nearly 170 years—closed, citing financial strain and a dramatic decline in student numbers. A few weeks earlier, Trinity Evangelical Divinity School (TEDS) in Chicago —long regarded as a flagship seminary of North American evangelicalism— said they would shut down its Illinois campus and relocate to Canada, merging with Trinity Western University in British Columbia.TEDS student numbers have dropped from 750 to 400 fulltime equivalents. These are not isolated incidents. Across the UK, Australia, and globally, churches are asking:Where will the next generation of gospel workers come from?Orlando Saer—lead pastor of Christ Church Southampton, Chair of the Reach UK South church planting network, and Chair of 9:38, a UK ministry seeking to raise up gospel workers, has helped lead the Yarnton Consultation, the most comprehensive look yet at the state of ministry recruitment in the UK.The Church Cothechurchco.com is a website and app platform built specifically for churches. Send us a textToday, we have a conversation that's very personal for me. I'm pleased to welcome author Dave Larsen to discuss his powerful new novel, Green Street in Black and White: A Chicago Story. I can relate to the story - I was born in Chicago, lived in Wheaton as a boy, and worked in my first role as a Youth Pastor in Maywood, when “white flight,” the fear-driven, racially charged mass exodus of whites to the suburbs, was in full swing.Dave takes us back to his childhood in 1960s Englewood on Chicago's South Side — a neighborhood on the cusp of racial transformation. Through the eyes of young Erik Pedersen and his band of friends, the Green Street Boys, we witness how ordinary families struggled with fear, prejudice, and white flight — but also how kids on bikes found friendship, loyalty, and glimmers of understanding across deep divides.Though fiction, the novel is steeped in Dave's own memories — from riding in his Irish uncle's squad car to watching his white church confront the arrival of Black families. We talk about it all: street smarts and playground humor, church politics, family tensions, and tragic turning points.Dave shares from his deep spiritual and academic roots — a Calvin College English degree, seminary at TEDS, and a doctorate from Loyola — to explore big questions: Can the church truly become a diverse place? Is racial reconciliation even possible? We reflect on the courage it takes to tell hard stories with no sugar-coated ending. And we hear why Green Street in Black and White matters — especially now. It's a heartfelt, honest episode I'm pleased to share. Welcome to iGaming Daily, sponsored by Optimove, where hosts Ted Orme-Claye and Ted Menmuir explore the ever-evolving intersection of UK politics and the gambling industry. In this episode, the two dive into the political strategies shaping the future of betting and gaming, focusing on how major parties are leveraging gambling policy for influence. From the Conservative Party's stance on tax policy to the Liberal Democrats' involvement in football broadcasting rights. Our discussion centres on Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch's vocal support for the “axe the racing tax” campaign and her resistance to proposed gambling tax increases. With the UK racing sector facing an estimated £60m-80m annual impact from tax consolidation proposals, Badenoch's alignment with rural and racing interests raises questions about political strategy versus genuine advocacy. We explore the broader implications for the Conservative Party's rural base and its historical ties to the UK racing industry during a challenging time in the polls. The two Teds also take a closer look at the Liberal Democrats' amendments to the football governance bill, including their push for free-to-air Premier League broadcasts and tighter restrictions on gambling-related advertising. As football remains the most bet-on market in the UK, it has become a central battleground for political messaging. We turn our attention to the Netherlands on today's episode of iGaming Daily, sponsored by Optimove, as Ted Orme-Claye of SBC News steps into the host's chair, joined by his namesake, Ted Menmuir, to discuss the Dutch market, a jurisdiction shrouded in political instability that puts the betting market at risk. Later in the episode, Viktor Kayed calls in live from an incredibly well timed Gaming in Holland conference, and gives updates on the discussions from the conference rooms in Amsterdam. Firstly, the two Teds discuss the collapse of the Dutch four-party coalition, the impact of this political instability on the betting market, give some context as to why coalitions across Europe have led to less secure regulatory environments, and highlight existing Dutch gambling regulations, such as age restrictions, advertising bans, and deposit limits. There is also a large focus on the black market, something that poses a serious threat to the regulated market in the Netherlands, and where the Dutch regulators, the KSA, stand on all of this. Viktor Kayed is once again in the host's chair, and he's once again between two Teds. Ted Menmuir, Editor-at-large, and Ted Orme-Claye, SBC News Editor, as they discuss the speculation around a potential sale of Bet365. Reported by the The Guardian last week, the rumours suggested the Coates family were exploring a sale of the business valued at £9 billion, and a potential move to Wall Street. Vik, Ted and Ted express their surprise at the story, but emphasise the report is highly speculative in nature. They also explore potential reasons for considering a sale, strategic moved made recently to enhance investor appeal, their exit from the Chinese market, the impact on the British Stock Exchange, and the impact on the North American market. TIMELINES V: Summary [Seasons 1-4 {Enter The Multiverse, Pre-Legends} The Teds: Initially, they are described as "wooks," or "Shirtless Party Boys" attending festivals and using mind-altering substances. They're depicted as fraternity brothers and recent UCLA graduates. The Psychonauts: This is a group that the Teds become involved with, seemingly due to their accidental encounters with interdimensional phenomena at festivals. Interdimensional Travel: The Teds frequently stumble into wormholes, teleportals, time warps, and other anomalies, often due to the music at the festivals they attend. This leads them to alternate realities and dimensions. Dillon Francis: He is also involved and acts as an alternate "Ted" or works with them as part of "The QuadraSquad." He helps with recruitment and search-and-rescue missions. DJing and Secret Missions: Chak Chel and Dillon Francis train the Teds in DJing, which they use to open time warps and communicate covertly. Ascension and The Final Battle: As the Teds progress, they become more involved with the Psychonauts and prepare for "The Final Battle," which involves multiple battles across different realities. "TED" Universe: There's a concept of a "TED" universe where everything and everyone is "Ted," which collides with other concepts like "Everyone's A DJ." Kandi Culture: There's a section that discusses kandi culture and the idea of trading versus selling kandi. Chak Chel's Bedtime Stories: Chak Chel tells stories about multidimensional adventures with titles like "Honey, I Killed Myself" and "DILLONCEPTION." : There's a character named [redacted] who experiences ascension and exists in multiple realities. Multidimensional Experiences: The document delves into themes of multidimensionality, time travel, and altered states of consciousness, often within the context of music festivals and rave culture. Meta Commentary: There are sections that seem to be meta-commentary on the writing process, characters, and the overall project. Mental Health: There are sections that delve into mental health themes, including discussions of suicide, depression, and anxiety. Teddy Boys (and Teddy Girls)emerged in Britain in the early 1950s, becoming the UK's first distinct youth subculture. Born in the aftermath of World War II, these working-class teenagers rejected post-war austerity and embraced a bold, rebellious style of dandyish suits, long drape jackets, narrow trousers, velvet collars, patterned waistcoats - and of course pomaded quiffed hair for the boys and equally sharp threads for the girls. Musican and writer Max Decharne, author of 'Teddy Boys: Post-War Britain and the First Youth Revolution', came to the Bureau to talk about the Teddys - and about Mods, Punk, the masssive influence of Bill Haley's Rock Around the Clock and of the impact the working class have had on British fashion. The Teds became notorious in the media - associated with violence, for clashes with rival gangs and for their alleged involvement in the 1958 Notting Hill riots. But was that really the case? Or was it because, as working class upstarts they rattled the middle and upper class establishment?
