In dieser Radioreise radelt und läuft Alexander Tauscher durch das grüne Potsdam. Freuen Sie sich auf besondere Oasen in der Landeshauptstadt von Brandenburg. Die Parks und Gärten erleben wir gewissermaßen als Insel großer Gedanken. Dabei stehen nicht die bekannten Anlagen wie Sanssouci oder Cecilienhof nicht im Fokus, sie sind aber immer wieder Kulisse während unserer Expedition. Wir konzentrieren und in dieser Sendung auf die Gartenbaukünstler und Forscher, die in Potsdam lebten und arbeiteen, wir bieten kleine und große Geschichten aus den vergangenen Jahrhunderten. Der Fernseh- und Theaterschauspieler Sebastian Stielke bildet den Rahmen dieser Radtour, die am Luisenplatz mit dem Brandenburger Tor beginnt. Von hier aus passieren wir den Park Sanssoucie und das Neue Palais sowie das Orangerieschloss. Unsere erste größere Station ist der Botanische Garten der Universität Potsdam. Dessen wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter Daniel Lauterbach führt uns in das Gewächs- und Tropenhaus mit Farnen und Kakteen aus fernen Ländern. Später zeigt er uns den Paradiesgarten, der den Namen wahrlich verdient hat. Von hier aus führt uns der Weg in einen kleinen besonderen Garten. Denn am Rande der Bornimer Flur befindet sich der Karl Foerster Garten und das Karl Foerster Haus. Über das Leben dieses Gartenbaukünstlers und Staudenzüchters spricht Felix Merk als Kurator der Deutschen Stiftung Denkmalschutz. Für viele Potsdam-Touristen noch recht unbekannt ist der Telegraphenberg. Dabei zieht er Wissenschaftler aus aller Welt an. Ingrid Bathe führt uns über die höchste Erhebung der Stadt und spricht über große Forscher und wissenschaftliche Einrichtungen an diesem Ort. Wir besuchen den Einsteinturm und bekommen mit Lars Freyer vom Förderverein eine private Führung im historischen Teleskop „Großer Refraktor“. Schließlich tauchen wir in die tropische Klimazone von Potsdam ein. Sie ist ganzjährig in der Biosphäre zu erleben. Carolin Brüstel begleitet uns durch die Flora und Fauna. Und die Schmetterlings-Mutter Ines Rieke lässt uns am Liebesleben der kleinen, bunten Insekten teilhaben. Viele Erkenntnisse bietet diese Sendung, die immer Wissen schafft, ganz ohne Wissenschaft.
