Send us a textGet Ready To Groove: Why Brass Camel Is The Band You Need To Know About Right Now!#newmusic #progrock #progfunk #camel #newalbum After successfully criss-crossing Canada three times on the strength of a word-of-mouth reputation and a hard-earned live following, Vancouver-based Brass Camel return with their second full-length record: Camel. Clocking in at 40 minutes across just six tracks, the album is an unapologetic artistic statement from a band whose sound resists easy classification—equal parts progressive rock ambition and deep-pocket groove, with no shortage of swagger, surprises, and soul.Their self-styled “prog-funk” sound may raise eyebrows on paper, but as multiple Grammy-winner Fantastic Negrito put it: “They sound like a funky Rush.” Or, as Big Sugar frontman Gordie Johnson (who also guests on the record as the group's Zappa-tinged “cat whisperer”) once declared, “Brass Camel…man, they're good worldwide.”Following their 2022 debut Brass, the band doubled down—both on the road and in the studio. Camel is the result of that momentum: two 11-minute bookends, four shapeshifting shorter tracks, and zero interest in playing it safe.Website: https://www.brasscamel.ca/epkInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/brasscamelFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/brassycamelApplemusic: https://music.apple.com/ca/artist/brass-camel/1629161926Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/artist/59HNn8uI1RIbWzmPUy5pFm?si=54e041a98f934c34&nd=1&dlsi=aa86680918574875Bandcamp: https://brasscamelband.bandcamp.com/Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/@UCx1fnIXz40ZxIBAWmmjXtjg TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@UCx1fnIXz40ZxIBAWmmjXtjg Thanks for tuning in, please be sure to click that subscribe button and give this a thumbs up!!Email: thevibesbroadcast@gmail.comInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/listen_to_the_vibes_/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thevibesbroadcastnetworkLinktree: https://linktr.ee/the_vibes_broadcastTikTok: https://vm.tiktok.com/ZMeuTVRv2/Twitter: https://twitter.com/TheVibesBrdcstTruth: https://truthsocial.com/@KoyoteFor all our social media and other links, go to: Linktree: https://linktr.ee/the_vibes_broadcastPlease subscribe, like, and share!

The solo piano: a sound that's been evolving for over 300 years. It's perfectly happy all by itself, but it also plays exceptionally well with others. Flexible by design, the piano has been a mainstay in classical music and jazz, and a key element in traditional and popular music. With the arrival of ambient, minimal and new age music in the 1970s, the piano was expanded and dematerialized through studio magic, and combined with ambient and electronic textures to create spatial sound images. On this transmission of Hearts of Space, the acoustic piano meets ambient atmospheres, on a program called CONFLATION. Music is by JON HOPKINS, TALE OF US, BEN LUKAS BOYSEN, ROBERT RICH & MARKUS REUTER, HAROLD BUDD & CLIVE WRIGHT, CHRIS WALLA, and CHRISTOPHER WILLITS & RYUICHI SAKAMOTO. NOTE: If you're thinking of buying one the new electronic/digital pianos, here's an excellent guide by Rob Beck. [ view playlist ] [ view Flickr image gallery ] [ play 30 second MP3 promo ]

Today, the Spotlight shines On returning guest, the innovative musician and composer Markus Reuter.Markus originally joined us for Episode 130 back in November 2022. He joins us now to discuss his project Sea of Hopeless Angels (Unsung Records), which began as several unedited studio solo improvisations by Markus on his electric touch guitar. Those recordings were turned over to mixer Stefano Castagna, whose sonic wizardry included not only mixing but fully collaborating with the recordings, adding new sounds and instruments as inspiration struck, including his own voice, various samples, bass, synthesizers, and other electronics. There are other inspirations at work in this project, but we will leave those to be revealed in the course of our discussion. It is important to mention the final collaborator for Sea of Hopeless Angels, though, and that is Aldo Grazzi, an Italian painter and video artist, who, back in the early 1980s, made visual experimentations interfacing a video camera with a cathode ray TV screen. The resulting video retains every imperfection of what was then state-of-the-art technology. All of the pieces on Sea of Hopeless Angels feature video accompaniment drawn from these videos, which are in the Grazzi archives, with two of them also accompanied by studio footage of Markus' original performances.(all musical excerpts heard in the interview are taken from Markus Reuter and Stefano Castagna's album Sea of Hopeless Angels) -- Dig DeeperVisit Markus Reuter at markusreuter.comDownload Sea of Hopeless Angels on Qobuz or Bandcamp, and listen on your streaming platform of choice.Follow Markus Reuter on Instagram, Facebook, and YouTubeSea of Hopeless Angels visuals + videosBe sure to peruse this episode's extensive show notes at spotlightonpodcast.com-- • Subscribe! For the official start of our SIXTH season, musician/composer/producer/instrument designer Markus Reuter brings us an album that grabbed onto his psyche as a teenager in Germany and STILL captivates him over 30 years later: 'Thunder and Consolation' by Bradford, Yorkshire band New Model Army. Led by singer/songwriter Justin Sullivan, the band creates hard-to-classify musical soundscapes that perfectly compliment Sullivan's biting lyrics about navigating one's family, finding your tribe and coming to terms with the often harsh realities of human nature: "These tracks stretch out before me - the ones you left behind What I want and what I feel - it's yours, yours, not mine" Songs featured in this episode: Green and Grey - New Model Army (Live Köln, 2006); River of Things - Markus Reuter (featuring Fabio Trentini and Asaf Sirkis); Tentacles - Stick Men; 51st State, 125 MPH - New Model Army; Schubert Ständchen (Serenade) - Peter Schreier; Ambition, Love Songs - New Model Army; Layla - Derek and the Dominos; Lovesong - The Cure; I Love The World, Vanity, Stupid Questions, 225, Inheritance, Green and Grey, Green and Grey (Live Rockpalast, 2006), The Ballad of Bodmin Pill, Family, Family Life, Vagabonds - New Model Army; 51st State of America - The Shakes; Archway Towers - New Model Army; One Cut Suffices - Markus Reuter (featuring Fabio Trentini and Asaf Sirkis)

Greetings! This week I've decided to return to my old PTE tradition of featuring progressive rock on the week of July 4th.  Outside of a track from Renaissance, most of my selections are based on newer bands, including Connecticut based bands like new band The Far Cry and an older band that members came out of, Holding Pattern.   I hope you enjoy my Progressive 4th on the 2nd!!

The humble, soft-spoken, vulnerable and sincere manner in which you will hear Markus Reuter speak on this podcast might leave you surprised when you figure out it comes from an artist who spent the past decade on the road with living legends like Tony Levin and Pat Mastelotto (amidst many others) on multiple continents performing for audiences who flock to hear them play a form of music based on a process an entire generation possibly doesn't even know exists. A qualified Psychologist, Reuter's work as recording artist, solo performer and collaborator spans (and frequently fuses) electrophonic loop music, contemporary classical music, progressive and art rock, industrial music, world jazz, jazz fusion, pop songs and pure improvisation. Over the course of a two-decade career, he has been a member of and collaborator with multiple bands, ensembles and projects (including centrozoon, Stick Men, Tuner, The Crimson ProjeKct, Europa String Choir, Gary Husband and Devin Townsend) as well as a solo artist. Markus is also an in-demand creativity coach and music instructor.    This episode is brought to you by www.everynowheremusic.com   Recorded on a Zoom L8 Mixer kindly sponsored by https://www.sound-service.eu   Connect with Markus : http://www.markusreuter.com http://markusreuter.bandcamp.com/  https://www.facebook.com/kopfmensch  https://www.facebook.com/olderthangod https://www.instagram.com/markusreuter/ https://twitter.com/markusreuter https://www.youtube.com/markusreuter   Connect with T.L. That Record Got Me High were very fortunate this week to have a guest who has experienced the music from a close proximity to the source. Touch guitarist Markus Reuter (centrozoon, Europa String Choir, Tuner, Stick Men, The Crimson ProjeKct, et. al)joined us by phone from Germany to "preach the gospel" about King Crimson's "Discipline," a life-changing work for Markus, and Barry as well. It remains consistent.
