Show Notes: Navigating grief isn't always easy. But there are many lessons learned in loss that allow us to be grateful. Andrea sits down with her long time friend Felecia Benitez to talk about how loss teaches us what it truly means to be grateful. Felecia is an Associate Clinical Social Worker therapist who works with abused clients. Her experience with trauma patients and some childhood trauma that she lived through has shown her God was with her and carried her through difficult life moments. Felecia recognizes how those difficult moments in her life shaped her to who she is today. Because of those difficult moments she has been a support in her patients recovery. Both ladies talk about all the gifts received even in loss, and why it's important to give thanks even in the most difficult situations. Scripture “It is the Lord who goes before you; he will be with you, he will not fail you or forsake you; do not fear or be dismayed.” - Deuteronomy 31:8 Journal Questions: Why can it feel hard to give thanks in difficult times? Andrea mentions on the show how giving thanks in grief can be a blessing because God draws us near and reveals how he has carried us through. What experience has helped you to give thanks? How has God molded you to become a stronger person today? Andrea shares tips on the show about how to be grateful. What is one way this season you can show your gratitude? Even if finding gratitude can be difficult, what is one small thing you can be grateful for? Who is someone you can thank that has helped you on your grief journey? What is your mourning glory?
Admittedly, there are times when my gratitude seems stale. Sometimes, they are stale because my intentionality wanes, and other times, I am so overwhelmed by the sheer goodness of our triune God that I cannot find the words. No matter the reason, our thanksgivings are flat; the antidote is Scripture: "It is good to give thanks to the LORD, And to sing praises to Thy name, O Most High; 2 To declare Thy lovingkindness in the morning, And Thy faithfulness by night,…" Psalm 92:1-2 "We give thanks to Thee, O God, we give thanks, For Thy name is near; Men declare Thy wondrous works." Psalm 75:1 "Through Him then, let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that give thanks to His name." Hebrews 13:15 No matter your circumstance, fall back to: "Rejoice always; 17 pray without ceasing; 18 in everything give thanks; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus." 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 "What a man is on his knees before God, that he is and nothing more"" Robert MurrayM'Cheynee Donation link: https://www.paypal.com/donate/?hosted_button_id=G9JGGR5W97D64 Or go to www.freerangepreacheronprayer.com and use the Donations tab. 660 Jesus Was Moved With Compassion on Them, A Guided Christian Meditation on Matthew 9:35-38 with the Recenter With Christ app The purpose of this podcast is to help you find more peace in your life and connect with the true source of peace, Jesus Christ. Outline: Relaxation, Reading, Meditation, Prayer, Contemplation and Visualization. Get into a place where you can sit comfortably and uninterrupted for about 20 minutes. You should hopefully not be driving or anything tensing or unrelaxing. If you feel comfortable to do so, I invite you to close your eyes. Guided Relaxation / Guided Meditation: Breathe and direct your thoughts to connecting with God. Let your stomach be a balloon inflate, deflate. Scripture for Meditation Matthew 9 KJV 35 And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people. 36 But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd. 37 Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; 38 Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest. NABRE 35 Jesus went around to all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom, and curing every disease and illness. 36 At the sight of the crowds, his heart was moved with pity for them because they were troubled and abandoned, like sheep without a shepherd. 37 Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is abundant but the laborers are few; 38 so ask the master of the harvest to send out laborers for his harvest.” Meditation on Scripture: It can be easy to think how wonderful it would be if we could be there when Jesus taught. What would it be like to hear Jesus preaching in the synagogue for example. I find myself filled with curiosity about what that experience would be like. The Gospel of John says if all the things Jesus had done were written the world would not have room to contain the books. How many things did he teach to individuals in quiet moments when few were there, and nobody to write it. Yet this is an emotional response because that assumes that the Gospel of Jesus Christ is somehow insufficient. As if there is a certain secret that if we were to learn that one secret then we would be able to overcome the world. With the secret knowledge Jesus whispered in the night to someone, then we would be able to truly embrace God and His word. This mindset is certainly romantic but it misses the greater point that we have information enough to begin our walk with God, and in addition to that the guidance of the Holy Spirit can help us to grow in understanding. When Thomas believed after he had seen the risen Lord Jesus said even more blessed are those who have not seen yet still believe. Jesus had compassion on us through His love that he poured out on us, exemplified on the Cross. In some ways we may feel as though, because we didn't hear Jesus preach, that we are the ones without a shepherd or that we are the one abandoned, but that misses when we respond to the Call of Jesus' love, we are found. We are called to be laborers in his vineyard, to help bring others to know God. To show them through action, through love, and through word, how to approach the throne of mercy and to be found. As limited as our understanding as humans is, we have enough to be able to do that, and that is what God has asked of us. Meditation of Prayer: Pray as directed by the Spirit. Dedicate these moments to the patient waiting, when you feel ready ask God for understanding you desire from Him. Meditation of God and His Glory / Hesychasm: I invite you to sit in silence feeling patient for your own faults and trials. Summarize what insights you have gained during this meditation and meditate and visualize positive change in your life: This is a listener funded podcast at patreon.com/christianmeditationpodcast Final Question: If you consider the invitation and command to persevere in the faith, what change in your life does that bring to your mind? 636 It Is Not For You to Know God's Timeline, A Guided Christian Meditation on Acts 1:7-9 with the Recenter With Christ app The purpose of this podcast is to help you find more peace in your life and connect with the true source of peace, Jesus Christ. Scripture for Meditation ACTS 1 NIV 7 He said to them: “It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority. 8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” 9 After he said this, he was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight. ESV 7 He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or seasons that the Father has fixed by his own authority. 8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” 9 And when he had said these things, as they were looking on, he was lifted up, and a cloud took him out of their sight. Meditation on Scripture: It is clear that when we become believers our desires and preferences do not dethrone God's. Many times we have genuine questions about God's timing and those questions are not answered in the way we would wonder. In fact the more we feel we should understand the more confusion we can feel. Nowhere is this more focused than the coming of the Kingdom of God. Scholars and believer's throughout the centuries have wondered and pondered and tried to crack the code of the times and seasons of God but Gods timing remains his own. The follow on theme here is that God does not give to us to decipher his timing. That does not mean we sit as passive observers in God's work. The Holy Spirit is meant to empower us to do the part that is our own. To witness of Jesus Christ. This is where God wants us to spend our focus. Meditation of Prayer: Pray as directed by the Spirit. Dedicate these moments to the patient waiting, when you feel ready ask God for understanding you desire from Him. Hey family, it's Matthew Adams here. What does it mean to be called a friend of God? Abraham, the father of faith, achieved this profound title not just through blind obedience, but through a deep, heartfelt connection with the Almighty. Let's unpack this.Scripture:"It happened just as the Scriptures say: 'Abraham believed God, and God counted him as righteous because of his faith.' He was even called the friend of God." — JAMES 2:23Abraham's faith journey provides us a blueprint to understand the nature of God's desired relationship with us. It wasn't about rituals, rules, or blind compliance. Instead, it was about unwavering faith, nurtured by a genuine, intimate connection.Point 1: More than Obedience - It's a Heart ConnectionWhile obeying God's commands is important, He doesn't desire robotic loyalty. He yearns for a heartfelt connection with His children. Abraham's faith was not dormant; it was alive, thriving, and responsive. The pivotal moments in Abraham's journey weren't just about following instructions; they were about engaging with God's heart and vision.Point 2: Unity in Purpose, Mission, and MethodA true friend of God isn't just a passive listener; they actively collaborate in God's purpose. Abraham's actions reflected his alignment with God's mission. This synergy is what God desires from us: to move in unison with His divine rhythm, creating a harmonious dance of faith and works.Point 3: True Friends Influence Each Other's HeartsAbraham's closeness to God transformed him. His thoughts, actions, and desires began to mirror God's own heart. This intimate bond goes beyond words. When you are this connected with God, you begin to understand Him intuitively. It's like a friendship where, over time, you finish each other's sentences, not because of practice, but because of a deep, mutual understanding. Conclusion:Abraham's friendship with God sets a precedent for us. It demonstrates that God values relationships built on trust, mutual respect, and shared objectives. It's not about just hearing His voice; it's about feeling His heart and letting that resonance guide our actions.Call to Action:Dive deeper, family. Beyond the scriptures, the prayers, the rituals - seek that heart-to-heart with God. Let's aim not just to be believers, but friends of God. Nurture that relationship; let it be a two-way street of love, trust, and shared purpose.Prayer:Lord, I come before You with a heart desiring more than just a master-servant relationship. I seek a deep, genuine friendship. Let my faith be active, my actions be a reflection of Your heart, and my spirit be in harmony with Yours. I yearn to know You beyond words, to feel Your heart, and to walk alongside You as a true friend. Guide me, mold me, and draw me closer to You each day. Amen. This is Matthew Adams, leaving you with a challenge: Seek that friendship with God. Don't settle for surface-level faith. Dive deep, and you'll discover a connection beyond words, beyond rituals, and beyond anything you've ever experienced. Blessings to you all, and remember, He's waiting for that heart-to-heart. Power Of God's Whisper family, Matthew Adams here. Today, we're venturing into the heart of how we hear from God, and how sometimes, it's not in the dramatic or the showy, but in the quiet conviction of the Spirit. Let's unpack a passage that might just redefine how you perceive the voice of God.Scripture: "It seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to us." ACTS 15:28Imagine a room filled with passion, conflicting perspectives, and a dire need for clarity. Yet, the solution doesn't thunder from the heavens; it's a subtle nudge, a deep-seated conviction that gently says, "This is the way." No booming voice, just a profound understanding from the Spirit. The leadership of the early church in Jerusalem knew this delicate dance all too well. The Power Of God's Whisper is a reader-supported publication. To receive new posts and support my work, consider becoming a free or paid subscriber.Point 1: The Humble Middle Ground. God doesn't always speak through the grand or the dramatic. Sometimes, His guidance is found in the reflective pause, in the silent space between our thoughts and feelings. That humble middle ground between the booming revelations and our mental musings is often where His soft whispers reside.Point 2: Unity Through The Spirit. When the church leadership began their meeting in Jerusalem, they were fractured. But by the end, a unity birthed from the Spirit emerged. This wasn't a product of mere human diplomacy; it was the work of the Spirit, bringing harmony and alignment even without loud declarations.Point 3: Trust Over Tangibility. Trusting in the Spirit's leading when His voice isn't overtly evident requires faith. It's about relying on His guidance even when it's not wrapped in the clarity we hope for. In the absence of a tangible sign, the Spirit calls us to trust in the stillness and the conviction He places within us.Conclusion: Hearing God isn't always about waiting for an audible confirmation or a grand vision. It's about tuning into the gentle promptings of the Spirit, the peace that surpasses understanding, and the unity that only He can bring about. The Spirit's voice may not always be the loudest, but it's undoubtedly the most transformative.Call to Action: This week, I urge you to lean into those quiet moments with God. Instead of waiting for a dramatic revelation, search for His gentle guidance in the stillness, unity, and convictions of your heart. Embrace the whispered guidance of the Holy Spirit.Prayer: Holy Spirit, we invite You into every corner of our lives. Even when Your voice seems quiet, we trust in Your gentle guidance. Help us discern Your whispers amidst the noise of life. Lead us to unity, to trust, and into the fullness of Your purpose. May we always find solace in Your subtle yet steadfast presence. In Jesus' name, Amen.Thank you for joining me, Matthew Adams, on "The Power Of God's Whisper Podcast." Remember, God's voice isn't always in the thunder; sometimes, it's in the whispered breeze. When Job's life gets wrecked, naturally he wrestles with God about why. Chapter after chapter depicts Job & his friends' attempts to make sense of the suffering. Eventually, God speaks and reminds Job of a fundamental truth of this book and all of Scripture: It's not about us. Though that sounds defeating, this is actually great wisdom - and living this out leads to incredible freedom and joy!Resources:Facebook- FCC Young AdultsInstagram- @fccya

Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. James 4:7. {OHC 95.1} There are those who recklessly place themselves in scenes of danger and peril, and expose themselves to temptations, out of which it would require a miracle of God to bring them unharmed and untainted. These are presumptuous acts, with which God is not pleased. Satan's temptation to the Saviour of the world to cast Himself from the pinnacle of the temple, was firmly met and resisted. The archenemy quoted a promise of God as security, that Christ might with safety do this on the strength of the promise. Jesus met this temptation with Scripture: "It is written, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God." In the same way Satan urges men into places where God does not require them to go, presenting Scripture to justify his suggestions. {OHC 95.2} The precious promises of God are not given to strengthen man in a presumptuous course, or for him to rely upon when he rushes needlessly into danger. . . . We are required, as children of God, to maintain the consistency of our Christian character. We should exercise prudence, caution, and humility, and walk circumspectly toward them that are without. Yet we are not in any case to surrender principle. {OHC 95.3} Our only safety is in giving no place to the devil; for his suggestions and purposes are ever to injure us, and hinder us from relying upon God. He transforms himself into an angel of purity, that he may, through his specious temptations, introduce his devices in such a manner that we may not discern his wiles. The more we yield, the more powerful will be his deceptions over us. It is unsafe to controvert or to parley with him. For every advantage we give the enemy, he will claim more. Our only safety is to reject firmly the first insinuation to presumption. God has given us grace through the merits of Christ sufficient to withstand Satan, and be more than conquerors. Resistance is success. "Resist the devil, and he will flee from you." Resistance must be firm and steadfast. We lose all we gain if we resist today only to yield tomorrow. {OHC 95.4} --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/tawasv/message

Series: First Things FirstLaunchActs 2:1-41Why did the early church take off? A movement of the Holy Spirit occurred o The coming of the Holy Spirit– When the Holy Spirit came to earth to reside continuously in the hearts of believers. o The Baptism of the Holy Spirit– The moment the Holy Spirit comes to live in an individual believer. o Filling of the Holy Spirit– The process of an individual believer dying to self and yielding control of their life to the God. Ephesians 5:18-21 The congregation earnestly desired God’s Spirit to move. Lives filled by the Spirit of God are attractive. All of the believersreceived the Holy Spirit, not just the apostles. How does the Old Covenant fit in the overall story of Scripture? It serves as the scaffolding for the building, or the 3-D model for the final product, which is the New Covenant in Christ Jesus. The Old Covenant, is not a failed plan of God that needed a replacement plan after it didn't work. The Old Covenant is the next phase in the overall plan of God to redeem His people. As the series continues to show, the Bible tells one unified story of God's actions through Christ to save a people for Himself for His own glory. May we see this story, may we rejoice in it, and may we glorify the God who is its Author. This class will deal with the foundational principles of determining right from wrong using Scripture (It’s really a hermeneutic study).
God keeps His own by pursuing them when they go astray. One of the most precious truths in Scripture: It is not the will of your Father that one of these little ones would perish!
