Kathy Wright is the Director of Reverb Music Festival in Eau Claire, WI. Kathy has worked in the music festival industry with Country Jam and others for decades and has endless stories to share. The owners of Country Jam bought a beautiful new property a few years ago and had the idea to create a whole new music festival to share the space in the summer and so Reverb Music Festival was born with 2023 being it's first year. It's 2024 and Reverb is back and better than ever. While the festival was only a one day event last year, this year it has been expanded to two days and includes a whole new genre. Friday August 16th will features the best in throwback hip hop including Pelly, Ka Lia Universe, Bubba Sparxxx, Mike Jones, Trick Daddy, Yung Joc, Twista, Ginuwine, and T.I.. Saturday August 17th will feature another great year of emo/pop punk bands including Amber Pacific, Emery, Secondhand Serenade, Anberlin, Hawthorne Heights, Story of the Year, and Yellowcard. In this episode we discuss what goes on behind the scenes to make music festivals possible, stories for Reverb 2023, why 2024 will be even better, what music festivals bring to a community, why live music is so important, and much more.

Jerry is an ACM award winning, first call Nashville session drummer/bassist, and one half of the heavy duo, Friendship Commanders.Jerry's career is a shining example of how to remain unapologetically authentic to one's creative and personal identity while crafting a top tier career in the music business. Jerry has held down the pocket for artists like Luke Combs, Morgan Wallen, Dolly Parton, Post Malone, The Legendary Shackshakers, Secondhand Serenade, and a continued list of marquee acts that would take us the rest of the length of this podcast to recall. More importantly, Jerry has a one of a kind sense of humor, and an unmovable passion for art in all of it's forms. In this hilariously insightful episode, hosted by fellow drummer Miles McPherson, Jerry recalls his journey to becoming one of Nashville's most in demand session drummers, shares the “secret” contents of his session gig bag, discusses the importance of retaining an authentic identity, and tells us why he believes that AI is a bubble that will burst with catastrophic impact.Support the Show.Join The Band for FREE at studiomusicianacademy.comFor access to exclusive masterclass sessionsInstagramYoutube

We had the pleasure of interviewing L E A over Zoom video!L E A debuts her infectious, anthemic new single “FTS (Sick of This)” featuring viral artist, producer, and Emo Nite New Orleans DJ Bemo Rouge. The track permeates with inspiration that is equal parts pop, emo, pop-punk, and hip-hop to formulate a distinct sound that only L E A could conjure up. It is a quintessential track to represent the modern iterations of punk that music fans are thirsting for. The uplifting, instantly catchy melody is the backdrop for her story as a struggling artist as she finally unlocks the success that she strived to achieve:“This song is about knowing you're about to break into the scene as an alternative artist, getting ready to prove to people who told you you wouldn't make it while struggling financially and mentally to balance it all alone.” - L E AGrowing up in the small, yet touristy beach town of Point Pleasant, New Jersey, L E A was homegrown from every and all kinds of rock n roll. The Los Angeles-based artist has intertwined the boldness of punk with the beachiness of pop turning her into the alternative pop act she is today. Inspired by artists such as Mayday Parade, Charlotte Sands, Secondhand Serenade, Magnolia Park, and many more from the iconic Warped Tour era, L E A considers her sound colorful, extroverted, aggressive, and blunt. Having a heavy musical background, lower-timbre rock vocals, and an obsession with the colorful world around her, L E A is sure to stand out in a crowd and make her presence known. After all, she is a Leo.We want to hear from you! Your mind is not deceiving you. There was a poem titled "Love" which the podcast covered back in Season 2 episode 3 but here in Season 3 episode 3 the two hosts have found a poem by that exact same name. Dave and Aaron wish there was something original in this work to work with, but are left with another generic emo-esque collections of words. Secondhand Serenade is evoked and sung, FD Signifier is cited and praised, Great British Bake Off is discussed and debated... basically Aaron and Dave did their best to avoid talking about this poem. Sleep Cycles make that choice a whole lot easier. With a line up that I can only explain as a Super Group, their resumes do not disappoint. Chris Newhard and Chris Poulsen met while playing in the Philly based band Promise of Redemption. Poulsen's resume also includes Tokyo Rose, The Color Fred and Secondhand Serenade. Stephen Morrell, former lead guitarist for Philadelphia-based pop-punk band An Honest Year  soon joined on and then brought in his old band mate Greg Pinney to round out the melodic thrashing rock band we now know as SLEEP CYCLES.  The colboaritive effort it took to pull this all together is a fun and at times spit out your beer funny. This episode we discuss new music Fridays, our favorite artists, and some concerts we have attended. We have so many artists that we love and know we left many out, but it was hard to stay on track with talking about the music that we love.  We discussed Selena Gomez's interview with Zane Lowe and how she talked about her music influence from her mother. Zane brought up a good point that her mom wasn't a genre lover but a lover of songs. This hit me as that's how I view music. Artists mentioned in this episode are... Macklemore, Nickelback, Lizzo, Julia Michaels, Simple Plan, My Chemical Romance , Hawthorne Heights, Relient K, Green Day, Secondhand Serenade, Sum 41, Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Martina McBride, Hanson, No Doubt, N*SYNC, Madonna, Vanilla Ice, Kylie Minogue (The artist I couldn’t remember the cassette of), Backstreet Boys, Britney Spears, Jewel, Mumford & Sons, Blink-182, Taylor Swift (we don’t go into detail on her as she deserves her own episode, watch out for Episode 13), Kesha , Kacey Musgraves, Maren Morris, Kassi Ashton, The Highwoman, Tenille Townes, Ashley McBryde, Metalica, Led Zepplin, Pantera, Bleachers, Lorde, Katy Perry, IZ, Selena Gomez, Halsey, and P!nk.
