Sam Whiles joins for some chat about "Back To The Egg", but primarily one of the few interviews Paul did for "Back to the Egg". James McCartney was not quite two years old, Wings was settling into the outfit that would become the final iteration, and Paul was toying around with tunes that would become "McCartney II". Also found in this episode is news that is slightly out of date (will that matter in a year, month or even a week?)

The UHC CEO assassin has been arrested, Luigi Mangione peed his pants when busted, Jay-Z accused of rape, Paul McCartney's son releases a stinker, and WATP Karl takes down Kylie Kelce & Stuttering John's guitar playing. Kylie Kelce > Joe Rogan as she has the number one podcast in the world. Talk Tuah is flailing. She's still trying to weasel out of the memecoin mess by ignoring Twitter. Jay-Z has been named in a Diddy rape case. No problems for Jay-Z, though, as he attends a red carpet event for his 12-year-old's new movie. Sherri Shepherd has her priorities right. Even the police are joining OnlyFans for extra cash. Karl from WATP drops by to roast Not Gonna Lie with Kylie Kelce, review The Simpsons MNF broadcast, chat Talk Tuah grifting, and Stuttering John's return to the classroom teaching music despite not knowing how to play guitar. James McCartney is a chip off the old block. We do a deep dive on the nepo-baby after his new song gets roasted on the internet. Subway strangler Daniel Penny found not guilty. BLM's Hank Newsome wants revenge. Eli Manning rode the subway for the first time last week… because he was never allowed to by the New York Giants. The UHC CEO assassin has been busted. Because if you know, you know (and probably wish you didn't). But if you don't know, well hawk tuah baby pucker up. Oasis are back! Woohoo! Yippee! The Manchester brothers have seemingly patched things up and are hitting the road. What does this mean for the world? What does this mean for us? And what the FUCK have Wet Leg been up to!?Sabrina Carpenter recently dropped the salacious video for her new single 'Taste' featuring a cameo from HollyWEIRD IT girl Jenna Ortega.
In an April 1973 press conference, John Lennon and Yoko Ono declared the birth of Nutopia, a "conceptual country" founded in response to John's ongoing immigration struggles. In past weeks, Nutopia has resurfaced online through a new website. We look at the history of Nutopia's founding, born out of John's wild journey to U.S. citizenship. And we explore the newest incarnation of Nutopia as an online presence, just in time for the 50th anniversary release of John's album, Milk and Honey. Plus, we dive in to the brand new Lennon/McCartney song—Sean Lennon and James McCartney, that is! And we answer the age-old question: "does a Maccarita contain orange juice?" We hit a major milestone of lining up episode numbers and song titles by digging into the vaults of the British Library for a rare recording of James McCartney; great notes from new listeners; an A-Paul-ogy; RB's Blue Drink; The Beatles grunge era; a lot of Foo Fighters talk for a section on Nirvana; inviting Dave Grohl to the pod; potentially insulting Dave Grohl, even though we think he's a cool dude; reminding Grohl that we'd love to have him on the pod; Becker's distaste for James Corden; if we know what skiffle is; the big reveal of Tommy's occupation; how Woody Allen ruined the clarinet; RB's new catch phrase, "Send snacks, send pants, send pants full of snacks;" and the song of commitment, "When I'm Sixty-Four." My guest today has deep reservoirs of courage. He'll say “yes” to new challenges and then scramble to figure out a way to deliver. Like when he said yes to opening for Paul McCartney's son. His band was hired for the gig, but there was one problem…at the time, he didn't actually have a band. It was just him! But that didn't stop Patrick McWilliams. He's a full-time contractor and tradesperson, and his side hustle is performing as a musician, stand-up comedian, and DJ. Regardless of your industry's side hustle, you'll be inspired by Patrick's “just say yes” spirit and perseverance. Check out the end of episode takeaways where I drill down on being “authentic” and saying “yes”... yes to new opportunities, to adventure, to your best life. What You'll Hear: 04:05 The early days 08:06 Creating his first (one man) band 09:48 Just saying “yes” 11:11 LA, Vancouver, an agent, then….covid! 11:45 Being ripped off by agents 14:30 Learn the lessons now when it's cheaper 15:56 Stand-up comedy added as a new side hustle 18:50 How a double-date left his kitchen cupboards a lot less full 25:05 Construction biz grows but there's time for side hustles 26:04 Juggling music, stand-up, and DJ 27:27 “I'm just going to say yes to things first…” 30:00 Forced to do creative writing…a blessing in disguise 31:23 Your best path to success? Keep the end goal in mind 33:44 Great lesson learned in a bar - no one can do it like you! 37:30 If you're authentic in what you do, you'll never consider it work Takeaways 38:35 No one can deliver the product and/or service that you do 39:48 Be yourself, but be your very best self 40:30 If your intuition/gut is prompting you to say yes…then SAY YES! 40:39 Either you'll have a “success” or a “learning experience” How To Connect With Patrick McWilliams: Instagram Tiktok Facebook Connect with Joan: Instagram Facebook Joan's Main Site Email Be on the show! Stephan "The Kid" Howard was christened thusly by the old blues players he first began gigging with as a bassist when he was only 13 years old in Chicago, and introduced him to a universe of music and travel that changed his life in every way. His time as both drummer and baritone guitarist in the influential Chicago band Pinebender in the 90's put him in contact with musicians that continue to alter his trajectory to this day. The Kid has had his hands in so much timeless music with folks like William Elliot Whitmore, Mike Lust, James McCartney, Keely and Maura Davis in Denali (née Ambulette) and BlueManGroup. But his life has been marked by the time spent in the hospital and an immune system that has caused myriad problems, including having both hips replaced 7 times, but has never compromised his time making music.

Yay! It finally came together! I’ve been working on getting James McCartney for a while, and it happened! And the chat was as good as I hoped – we got to completely geek out on music/audio programming discussions, he introduced me into a class of new instruments, we talked about the past and the future… It’s what makes this podcast so awesome to produce. As I said, we wandered around the landscape, talking about his interest in the Jankó keyboard (and his acoustic piano of the same), how he got started in computer music programming, the early development of SuperCollider, and his current exploration into new programming languages. I came out of it understanding both James and his work much better. Enjoy! Transcription available at http://www.darwingrosse.com/AMT/transcript-0350.html
