A hundred and fifty feet off the shore of Cape May sits one of the strangest shipwrecks in America... a massive ocean-going vessel built not from steel, but from concrete. Born from the desperation of World War I, the S.S. Atlantus was supposed to revolutionize shipping. Instead, it became a stranded monument to ambition, failure, and the relentless power of the sea. From wartime experiments and abandoned ferry schemes to daring rescues, ghost stories, and a century of decay, this is the incredible true story of New Jersey's most unusual shipwreck. On this episode, we explore the rise and fall of the legendary S.S. Atlantus, the "Floating Tombstone" of Cape May. In the autumn of 1939, the isolated fishing town of Provincetown, Massachusetts, became gripped by terror. Children and adults alike reported encounters with a towering figure cloaked in black, wearing a metallic mask with glowing blue eyes and laughing with a deep, gurgling sound before vanishing into the dunes with impossible speed. They called it the Black Flash. But the deeper investigators looked, the stranger the story became. Wartime paranoia, serial arson, sea monster hysteria, and a frightened coastal community all collided to create one of New England's most bizarre forgotten legends. And decades later, a deathbed confession would finally reveal the shocking truth hiding behind the mask. Tonight, we uncover the true story of the Black Flash and find out what exactly this has to do with New Jersey. The Michelin-starred Washington, D.C. restaurant is steeped in a rich culinary heritage shaped by the bounty of the region and the chef's vision. When Chef Jeremiah Langhorne opened The Dabney in 2015, his goal was to make it a showcase for the bounty of the Mid-Atlantic region. Washington, D.C. was going through a restaurant renaissance 10 years ago, he said, and the timing was right to introduce something other than a steakhouse or French or Italian restaurant. He builds dishes around local seafood, like Cape May scallops and Chesapeake Bay oysters and crab, as well as produce, grains and meats sourced from tri-state farmers with long-standing relationships to the restaurant. The menu allows people to come in and experience the food in whatever way they like, whether it's sitting at the bar having a beer and a small plate, sharing family-style entrees, ordering a la carte off the whole menu or splurging on a prix fixe multi-course dinner. The Dabney is a Michelin-starred restaurant without pretensions. Chef Langhorne encourages conviviality—from the wood-fired hearth in the center of the action to the flexible menu and warm service style. Although he never attended culinary school, Langhorne was mentored by some of the most esteemed chefs and restaurateurs in the world. Listen as he shares his inspiring journey from pizza deliveryman to staging in top kitchens around the country, how he attributes much of his success to supportive industry mentors, and how he continues to evolve The Dabney while staying true to his original vision. To learn more about Del Montes new fruit sauces and try a sample, visit https://www.delmontefoodservice.com/products/fruit-sauces?utm_campaign=Fruit_Sauces&utm_source=MenuTalk&utm_medium=Podcast&utm_content=040726_Graphic&utm_id=pm#requestForm

SHOW NOTES: Happy Halloween weekend! Once spooky season is officially behind us, it's time to turn things over and get ready for the real holiday hustle. We are sharing easy ways to prep your kitchen and dining areas for all the extra cooking, baking, entertaining, and guests you'll have. Plus, we're tackling exterior maintenance tips before the deep freeze sets in. Stay tuned to hear all this and more! - Holiday Kitchen Prep: We offer easy tips to prep your kitchen for the holidays, emphasizing deep cleaning the oven well in advance of a major feast and clearing out expired items from the fridge and freezer to make space for groceries and leftovers. - Refresh Your Dining Room: We provide quick and affordable ways to refresh your dining room, focusing on simple centerpieces and cozy lighting upgrades. - Making Space for Guests: If you're hosting holiday guests but don't have a spare room, find out how to create a warm overnight space using visual separation, high-quality air mattresses, and thoughtful bedside basics. - Winterizing Pipes: To prevent costly water damage from burst pipes, we discuss important winterizing tips for your outdoor space. Q & A: - Mike from Little Rock, AR, is listing his house for sale after three years of piecemeal remodeling and wants to know the best way to advertise the improvements. He should create an inventory list of all that was done, including dates for things like energy-saving updates, as this detail is very appealing to buyers. - Marty in Cape May, NJ, has a tankless water heater and is frustrated that it takes almost five minutes for hot water to reach her kitchen sink. We explain that the issue is the physical distance the water must travel through the pipes, not the type of water heater. - Mark in Ohio is attempting a budget kitchen remodel and is considering IKEA cabinets, but is concerned about their durability. We confirm that our experience with IKEA kitchen cabinets suggests they are good quality, very well priced, and are notably easy to install. - Mike in Florida recently moved and had an AC technician recommend installing a UV light. We suggest that the technician was likely trying to upsell and give Mike some other useful tips besides relying on an expensive UV light. - Larry in Connecticut needs to replace two aging water heaters in his attic and asked whether a recirculating pump or a tankless heater is the better solution. We caution against adding a recirculating pump to the old units and note that while a tankless heater is small and efficient, Larry should consider whether one small unit could meet all his hot water needs. The Rich Zeoli Show- Hour 1: 3:05pm- Earlier this week, President Donald Trump announced a 30-day federal takeover of Washington D.C.'s police department—while simultaneously deploying 800 National Guard troops—to fight violent crime in the nation's capital. At the White House press briefing, Trump announced Attorney General Pam Bondi will oversee the federal takeover—while Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth will provide military support “if needed.” Additionally, the administration will assign 120 F.B.I. agents to conduct nighttime patrols throughout Washington D.C. While progressive politicians have attacked the Trump Administration over the decision, even MSNBC is now conceding that there is a serious crime problem that needs to be addressed. Has President Trump forced progressives into defending crime? 3:30pm- It's Justin's birthday today! 3:35pm- On Thursday, President Donald Trump celebrated the 90th anniversary of Social Security where he addressed erroneous claims made by Senator Elizabeth Warren that the administration is destroying Social Security—“she's a mean, horrible human being” and has a history of lying. 3:40pm- While speaking with the press, President Donald Trump said that if Friday's meeting with Vladimir Putin does not go well and there is no clear sign of a peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine, Russia will face “very severe consequences” in the form of onerous sanctions. 3:50pm- Rich is scheduled to be on Fox News immediately after tomorrow's show in Cape May. Matt is helping out by crafting talking points—so, does that mean Justin has to do Rich's makeup? Plus, what's Rich's latest medical ailment? You'll never guess!

Conservatives may have won the battle over Sydney Sweeny's jeans—but progressives will almost certainly rally around another social justice issue in the future. 4:15pm- While speaking with podcaster Aaron Parnas, Sen. In this episode, Ophira Eisenberg sits down with her longtime friend Erin Keating—former television executive, mom of teenage twins, and host of the podcast Hotter Than Ever—for a conversation that spans from IVF dolphin omens to teen fashion battles. Erin shares how a gamified approach to online dating led to meeting her now ex-husband (he was date #5 out of a planned 10), and how her determination during fertility treatments turned her into what she calls a “warrior” with a 4-a-week Upper East Side IUI commute. The IVF worked, and during a Cape May trip, she and her then-husband spotted twin dolphins—just days before finding out they were expecting twins (actual human ones, not more dolphins). Erin recounts birthing her 14-pound combined children—one lounging transverse, the other breech—and how their differing in-utero layouts led to years of bunk-bed metaphors and a dead-on prediction of their teenage eating habits. She reflects on co-parenting after divorce, her son's hyperfocus (he once used her credit card to buy digital Valorant weapons), and why she's proudly never read a parenting book. Erin's philosophy? Lead with love, skip the playlists, and make your teen send the follow-up email after their camp counselor interview. And yes, she confirms: Brooklyn in 2011 really was the twin capital of the world.
On this week's episode, the girls dive into Hunter's Cape May adventures, which take a wild turn when a hawk moonlights as a bouncer. She also shares how the parenting trick everyone swears by completely unravels in her hands and delivers a brand new hot take. Meanwhile, Michaela develops an unexpected respect for the crow industry, and the girls' mom pulls off a moment that is peak “their mom” energy. Follow us! “I think that's what I would define pancreatic cancer as: never, ever give up.” In this powerful episode of the Project Purple Podcast, host Dino Verrelli speaks with Kelianne O'Shea, a 29-year-old from Cape May, New Jersey, who was diagnosed with stage four pancreatic cancer just one year ago. Now on maintenance chemo and marking a full year of what she calls “surviving pancreatic cancer,” Kelianne opens up about the physical and emotional rollercoaster of facing a devastating diagnosis at just 28 years old. She shares the story of her sudden symptoms and the ER visit that changed her life. Doctors initially gave her just months to live. But after a year of aggressive chemotherapy, her tumor has shrunk in half, and her medical team is hopeful. Kelianne reflects on how she navigated major life milestones, including getting married and going on her honeymoon, while undergoing treatment. Her story is one of strength, acceptance, and emotional honesty. She speaks candidly about the harm of toxic positivity, emphasizing the importance of allowing cancer patients to feel and express their emotions freely. “You don't always have to be positive,” she says. “Sometimes, you just want to be sad, and that's okay.” Now, Kelianne is sharing her journey publicly, using social media to educate others and connect with fellow survivors. From finding a cancer therapist to building a strong support system, her insights are heartfelt and grounded in experience. “This journey isn't linear,” she reminds listeners. Kelianne's story is a testament to perseverance and the healing power of connection. You can find her on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/keliannefield9/. In October 2003, a decomposed body surfaced off the coast of Cape May, New Jersey. Chained at the ankles, bound in duct tape, and gnawed by sea life — this was no accident. Within hours, the body was identified as 16-year-old Kimberly Holton, a missing foster child from Dover, Delaware.Kimberly's case would unravel a chilling chain of events involving foster care failures, jealousy, betrayal, and a horrifying method of body disposal few could imagine. Investigators would trace a single link of chain to a hardware store… uncover a disturbing love triangle… and find themselves staring at a grainy surveillance video that would blow the case open. This is the haunting true story of Kimberly Holton — the girl they tried to silence, and the case that refused to sink.Sources:Deadly Waters With Captain Lee: S1, EP4https://www.aero-news.net/FullsizeImage.cfm?do=main.textpost&id=54dd2978-de51-4cfc-a669-9999d6518c70https://www.delawareonline.com/story/news/local/2020/02/11/discovery-channel-feature-delaware-homicide-where-16-year-old-suffocated-tossed-airplane/4721810002/Send us a textEmail Residue: residuepodcast@gmail.comFind RESIDUE online:Instagram: @residuepodcastTik Tok: @residuepodcast Facebook: Residue:A True Crime Podcast Credits: RESIDUE is Hosted/Produced/Researched/Edited by Chrissy Champagne THEME SONG: "Dance Of Death" by Purple Planet Music collection written and performed by Chris Martyn and Geoff Harvey. TERROR ON THE BEACH! Seaside resorts from Cape May, New Jersey, to Montauk, Long Island, were paralyzed in fear during the summer of 1916.Not because of the threat of lurking German U-boats and saboteurs. But because of sharks. On July 1, 1916, Charles Epting Vansant was killed by a shark while swimming at a resort in Beach Haven, a popular destination on the Jersey Shore. At first, this terrible tragedy received only limited attention. After all, millions were flocking to the beaches along the Jersey Shore and throughout the New York region -- Coney Island, the Rockaways and Staten Island's South Beach.Shark attacks were the stuff of pirate legends and dramatic works of art. Most experts were skeptical that sharks were dangerous at all; the Maryland mogul Hermann Oelrichs offered $500 to any person with proof that sharks were dangerous to humans. Nobody claimed the reward. But during that July, sharks did threaten the lives of humans -- not only on sandy beaches, but even in tranquil watering holes, several miles inland. What was in the water in July of 1916?This show contains descriptions of violence related to shark attacks. You've been warned. This episode was edited and produced by Kieran Gannon.Visit the website for more episodes of the Bowery Boys Podcast.

The Rich Zeoli Show- Hour 3: 5:05pm- Dr. Wilfred Reilly—Professor of Political Science at Kentucky State University & Author of “Lies My Liberal Teacher Told Me”—joins The Rich Zeoli Show to discuss reports that the Trump Administration may disband the Department of Education. Plus, will President Donald Trump pardon former Minneapolis police officer Dereck Chauvin? Dr. Reilly notes that morally, it might be the right thing to do—however, practically speaking, a presidential pardon won't accomplish much since Chauvin is also in prison on state charges. AND will Dr. Reilly be making an appearance at the Grand Hotel of Cape May later this year? 5:50pm- Rich goes 40+ minutes without taking a break—and now he has no time to do anything else.
The Rich Zeoli Show- Full Episode (03/10/2025): 3:05pm- Musk Derangement Syndrome: Social media users are now calling on Tesla owners to sell their vehicles in response to CEO Elon Musk's work with the Trump Administration's Department of Government Efficiency. In one viral clip, TikTok influencer Damien Slash vowed to send Tesla's stock to “zero” and questioned whether the electric vehicle company will even still exist one year from now. 3:10pm- Utah is set to become the first state to ban the use of fluoride in public water systems—Governor Spencer Cox confirmed he plans to sign a bill that will put the policy into effect in early May. 3:15pm- On Monday, the social media platform X was hit with a “massive cyberattack,” according to owner Elon Musk. Could Russia be responsible? Musk notably provided the Ukrainian military with access to his satellite constellation Starlink—allowing Ukrainians to communicate with one another efficiently on the battlefield while repelling Russian aggression. 3:30pm- In a post to social media, Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard wrote: “Per POTUS's directive, I have revoked security clearances and barred access to classified information for Antony Blinken, Jake Sullivan, Lisa Monaco, Mark Zaid, Norman Eisen, Letitia James, Alvin Bragg, and Andrew Weissman, along with the 51 signers of the Hunter Biden ‘disinformation' letter. The President's Daily Brief is no longer being provided to former President Biden.” 3:35pm- Why does Rich have chopsticks? 3:40pm- According to research from the Heritage Foundation's Oversight Project, former President Joe Biden signed dozens of executive orders with an “autopen”—raising questions about the legitimacy of those actions. Did Biden know what he was signing? Earlier this year, Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) revealed that during a closed-door meeting Biden had no recollection of signing an executive order that effectively froze new liquid natural gas export permits. 4:05pm- Bill D'Agostino—Senior Research Analyst at Media Research Center—joins The Rich Zeoli Show to break down some of the best (and worst) clips from the Sunday shows. In an interview with Politico, Governor Tim Walz critiqued the campaign strategy of the Harris-Walz presidential campaign—suggesting they should have done more interviews instead of playing it safe. But, as D'Agostino notes, even friendly interviews were often disastrous for Kamala Harris. PLUS, host of The View Whoopi Goldberg says that if you oppose biological males participating in women's sports, you must think women are weak. 4:30pm- California Governor Gavin Newsom (D) is now suddenly claiming it is “deeply unfair” for biological males to participate in women's sports—pivoting away from the Democrat Party's stance. Interestingly, Newsom also invited conservative Charlie Kirk on his podcast recently. Is Newsom becoming a moderate, leaving his far-left preferences behind? Rich thinks this is nothing more than a political strategy to cement Newsom's status as a 2028 presidential front runner. 5:05pm- Dr. Wilfred Reilly—Professor of Political Science at Kentucky State University & Author of “Lies My Liberal Teacher Told Me”—joins The Rich Zeoli Show to discuss reports that the Trump Administration may disband the Department of Education.
