S svojo slavo, glamurjem in izkušnjami sta kot nalašč za glavni vlogi v romantični uspešnici. Vendar pa življenjepis obeh igralcev polnijo tudi sodelovanja s sicer komercialnimi, a bolj umetniško usmerjenimi režiserji, kot so Luca Guadanino, Christopher Nolan, brata Safdie, Lynne Ramsay in Claire Denis. Prav ti eklektični projekti lahko gledalcem služijo kot zanesljiv namig, da Drama ne bo še en povprečen film o mladi ljubezni in prikupnih poročnih zapletih. Emma je na videz rahločutno, lepo dekle s posrečenimi nerodnostmi, Charlie pa deluje kot tipičen angleški nevrotičen romantičen junak z razmršenimi lasmi in rahlim strniščem. V uvodnih minutah režiser spretno prikaže zgodovino para ob pomoči utrinkov njunega odnosa, po katerih nas popelje Charlie, ko vadi svoj poročni govor. Tako se lahko hitro prepričamo o globini in povezanosti njunega odnosa in kemiji med igralcema. Zendaya se izkaže z morda svojim do zdaj najboljšim igralskim nastopom, saj ji večplastnost Emmine osebnosti, njeno čustveno stisko, osamljenost in konfliktne občutke uspe prikazati z rahločutno in zadržano igro. Tudi Pattinson se dobro vživi v ljubečega, a obsesivnega Charlieja, ki s svojo paranojo poskrbi za večino komičnih trenutkov v filmu. Borgli film zgradi s kratkimi prizori in hitrimi rezi, ki nas prestavljajo iz filmske sedanjosti v pretekle dogodke ali pa namišljene scenarije. Večina dejanske drame v filmu se tako zgodi v glavah osrednjih likov. V odsotnosti pripovedovalca postane nezanesljiva sama pripoved, obenem pa nas vpogled v vsiljene misli likov kot občinstvo neprestano opozarja na pristranskost njunega doživljanja. Poudarjanje subjektivnega je tudi ena največjih kakovosti filma in glavni razlog, zakaj uspe Drama v svoji melodramatičnosti in satiričnem tonu podati tudi relativno pomenljiv razmislek o odnosih. Glavna šibkost filma je, da v celoti sloni na prepričljivosti izhodiščnega zapleta oziroma na tem, da se nam bo Emmina izpoved zdela dovolj pretresljiva, da upraviči vse nadaljnje peripetije. Brez tega bi dogajanje lahko izpadlo preveč banalno, liki pa povečini hinavski in vzvišeni. Predvsem karikiranost stranskih likov film zadrži v nekoliko površinski obravnavi predsodkov in strahov, ki lahko posežejo v neki odnos. Kljub temu pa je Drama zabaven in estetsko zadovoljiv film, ki ob suvereni režiji, lepi fotografiji in odlični igri ponuja tudi zanimiv komentar na sodobne odnose ter širšo družbeno moralo in vrednote. Send a textTHE LOST CITY OF Z Before James Gray hung Brad Pitt on wires and took him to space, he first brought a different blonde to the Amazon (the rainforest) to encounter snakes, torrential rains, and an insect extracted from his ear during the shooting of he writer-director's first Amazon (the company) Studios distributed film THE LOST CITY OF Z (2016).  Charlie Hunnam is that blonde, the -e is intentional as that's the more common British spelling and despite an American accent convincing enough to fool Gray, a man of many impersonations, Charlie's a bloke. His Percy Fawcett protagonist is joined by fellow Brit and future Batman Robert Pattinson as the pair of British explorers (and WWI soldiers) map out the Bolivia-Brazil border in an adaptation of the nonfiction bestseller of the same name (although the Americans, per its author, say the final word-letter as “zee” instead of “zed”). Also cast and a contemporaneous Spiderman is Tom Holland as Fawcett's son Jack Fawcett, who will take the place of Pattinson's composite character Henry Costin in Percy's final voyage back into the jungle to seek the titular lost city.  For this sixth of eight Gray episodes, guest Shannon returns, host Ken stays ill, co-host Ryan gushes, and the lone Gen Zedder Thomas has read the book.
