Hydrogen is a fantastic energy source: abundant, clean, light and highly flammable. But can it overcome its biggest hurdle: cost of production? Andrew Clennett, founder of Hiringa Energy, says an emphatic yes. Hiringa already has a green-hydrogen pilot plant in Taranaki (a JV with Balance Agri-Nutrients) and is rolling out truck fuelling sites across the country. And with trucking firms, vehicle manufacturers and the government (in part) already on board, Andrew says the biggest hurdle for hydrogen is not cost but Kiwi inertia. So we asked Andrew to explain the science, economics and his own journey from an oil man to a hydrogen hopeful. About AndrewAndrew is a Tasmanian and experienced energy executive, having spent 23 years as a drilling engineering and senior executive for Todd Energy, Woodside Energy and Maersk Oil. Anyone working long hours in a creative industry craves mental stamina and focus. We'd all give anything for the drug Bradley Cooper used to transform himself in the film 'Limitless.' With the recent surge in popularity of smart drugs and nootropics, has the 'Limitless' era finally arrived? In this episode I have an in-depth conversation with Dr. Andrew Hill, a PhD in neuroscience and the lead neuroscientist for the company TruBrain* that manufacturers several different forms of nootropics substances that enhance clarity, focus, memory, and cognitive function. We discuss the difference between smart drugs and nootropics, which are safe and which aren't, how you can enhance the effects of coffee, and which substances are the best bang for your buck when it comes to enhancing the capabilities of your brain. Immutable Collections are a new set of immutable types for .NET. We covered the high level aspects of this new technology a few months back when Erik Meijer interrogated (in his friendly way) the PM of the project, Immo Landwerth, and the lead developer, Andrew Arnott. Since this time, they have received a lot of feedback (thank you!) and have also been busy refining and optimizing their code. Here, Andrew and Immo go deep into how this stuff works and why it's designed the way it is. We talk about how to use these new types and how not to. We learn what the team has been working on and may work on for future releases. As is the case with any Going Deep episode, this is long form conversation and, well, deep. Tune in!More on Immutable Collections (download the preview versions via NuGet):The NuGet package preview includes these types:ImmutableStack ImmutableQueue ImmutableList ImmutableHashSet ImmutableSortedSet ImmutableDictionary ImmutableSortedDictionary Interfaces for each of these types are also defined to facilitate exchange of immutable collection types that may be implemented differently to optimize for very specific performance or memory requirements.See Andrew's blog for more detailed information (on immutable types for .NET and more. Lots of great info...).
