Tom Ryan is a writer, director, and producer who was born and raised in Jersey City, New Jersey. He studied the media arts for two years at New Jersey City University (formally Jersey City State College).Since his early childhood Tom has had a great passion for genre films, particularly horror. He nurtured that passion by shooting movies on a VHS camera, drawing a slasher-comic series titled “Midnight”, and taking every opportunity he could to escape to the movies. With a handful of childhood friends that share in his love of terrifying stories, Tom founded an independent production company called “Theatre of Terror”. With a mission to make high-quality, low-budget independent horror, they launched their first short film “Day 9” in January of 2013.Tom then wrote, produced, directed and starred in his first feature film, “FACES”. Filming began in late 2013 and the production wrapped in August of 2014. The film premiered on October 10th at the Landmark Loews theater in Jersey City to an audience of over 350 people. A successful festival run resulted in an Audience Choice Best Feature, Best Soundtrack, and a Best Actor Award for Tom.This momentum inspired him to officially create Theatre of Terror LLC. He created a website and social media page to focus his marketing strategy. The production company successfully completed the four- film anthology “The Theatre of Terror” featuring the award-winning shorts: The Gift, The Bookworm, Abducted, and Endangered. Blessed with a natural talent for what was written by Shakespeare and Moliére, Brian Sheppard has built on that to be one of today's most sought actors for true crime and contemporary drama. His appearances on AMC's “The Walking Dead” and NBC's longest-running show “Law & Order: SVU” have presented him as vulnerable or villainous, and always complex. When he played James Dalman on “The Blacklist”, Brian added drug-addicted, disturbed, and edgy to his acting attributes. When Brian portrayed Gary Evans, a prolific serial killer, on ID Channel's “To Catch a Killer”, he portrayed a murderer who, like Charles Manson, Jim Jones, and Richard Ramirez, was likeable, charismatic, and deeply disturbed. Not comfortable playing only one persona, Brian wears with style and skill the hats of both comedians and romantics. He did this in the pilot for “Vetted” and the indy film “Beautiful Something”. In this movie, which played to sold out audiences in San Francisco, Chicago, L.A., Philadelphia, and Tampa, Brian played a poet who writes a life-changing piece of work after confronting his former lover. For it, Brian won Best Actor at the Chicago LGBT Film Fest, as well as the Best Actor Award at Mumbai LGBT Film Fest. Prior to these, he was celebrated in the Classical acting world. Brian cultivated his Shakespearean talents at Tennessee Shakespeare Co. (TSC). His roles there included Lavatch in All's Well That Ends Well, Berowne, Richard II, John Ford, Titus Lartius, Dromio of Syracuse, Don Jon in 400: The Shakespeare Feast. Early in his career, Brian's dramatic intensity and range brought him success as the title role in Hamlet, Grumio in The Taming of the Shrew (TSC), Dorante in The Liar (Centenary Stage Co.), Caliban in The Tempest (PTDT in New York), and Jason in Rabbit Hole (NIU). Brian earned his BA in Theatre at Butler University and an MFA in acting at Northern Illinois University (NIU), where he taught fight choreography and speech/dialect with professors. After attending Moscow Theatre School, he performed in master classes led by several master teachers, including Neil Freeman, Anne Bogart, and Kristen Linklater. In 2011, inspired by his love of the Bard, Brian co-founded Plimouth Players, an all-male Shakespeare company. As an avid fly fisherman for 25 years, Brian teaches fly tying and guides fly fishermen on rivers in New York. You can see his work on City Fly. Coming for Brian are more roles in sci-fi, true crime, and the independent film world. Follow him on Instagram to stay caught up.

Hisham Fageeh talked about his career as an actor, producer, writer & director of the Middle East Media Initiative (MEMI) at USC's School of Cinematic Arts.Recently appointed as Director of the Middle East Media Initiative (MEMI) at USC's School of Cinematic Arts, Hisham Fageeh is a Hijazi multi-hyphenate creative straddling both Western and Arab audiences. His work has been written about by The New York Times, Vanity Fair, Rolling Stone, BBC, Variety, among others. In the Middle East, he's most known for his video “No Woman, No Drive,” which went viral in 2013. The video remains a hilarious satire on the debates over whether or not Saudi Arabia would let women drive (they eventually did in 2018), and Fageeh's video was a momentous critical injection. This is part of his pointed charm, Fageeh uses comedy to highlight social issues, by turning them on their head. Using comedic tools, Fageeh questions cultural norms, even the most ubiquitous ones. For acting, he rose to international acclaim when he co-produced and starred in Saudi Arabia's submission to the Oscars ‘Best Foreign Film' of 2016, Barakah Meets Barakah. For his role, he was nominated for a Best Actor Award at the Arab Cinema Awards in Cannes, and the film premiered at the Forum section of the 66th Berlin International Film Festival, winning the Prize of the Ecumenical Jury at the Berlinale. In North America, the film premiered at the Elgin and Winter Garden Theatres and at the 41st annual Toronto International Film Festival. It made history in 2017, when Netflix bought the distribution rights to the film, making it the first Saudi film to display on the streaming service.Created and hosted by Mikey Muhanna, afikra Edited by: Ramzi RammanTheme music by: Tarek Yamani https://www.instagram.com/tarek_yamani/About the afikra Conversations:Our long-form interview series features academics, arts, and media experts who are helping document and/or shape the history and culture of the Arab world through their work. Cedric Sanders recently joined host Elias in the cave! You can catch Cedric as Officer Mark Ranshaw on Michael Bay's latest film 'Ambulance'. Michael Bay's highly anticipated film, Ambulance. Needing money to cover his wife's medical bills, a decorated veteran (Jake Gyllenhaal) teams up with his adoptive brother (Vahya Abdul-Mateen II) to steal $32 million from a Los Angeles bank. However, when their getaway goes spectacularly wrong, the desperate thieves hijack an ambulance that's carrying a severely wounded cop and an EMT worker. Caught in a high-speed chase, the two siblings must figure out a way to outrun the law while keeping their hostages alive. Sanders plays Officer Mark Ranshaw, a patrol officer for the LAPD, who's partner is the injured cop in the ambulance that gets kidnapped by Gyllenhaal and Abdul-Mateen II. Throughout the film he is determined to save his partner, single handedly if he must, even if it means risking his life without backup. Sanders is best known for the Sundance Film Festival hit The Ten starring Jessica Alba and Paul Rudd. He is also known for his supporting role in American Gangster opposite Academy Award Winner Denzel Washington. A flurry of films rapidly ensued; including a lead role in the independent faith-based feature The Least Among You which also stared Oscar winner Louis Gossett Jr. Sanders received the Best Actor Award at the San Diego Film Festival for that performance. A supporting role in David Fincher's critically acclaimed Oscar nominated film The Social Network as well as the Indie car racer dramady Rocksteady and All Things Fall Apart starring Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson. On the small screen Cedric has lent his talent to multiple hit television shows like “Law & Order,” “Law & Order: SVU” with Emmy nominated actor Andre Braugher, “Life Support” with Queen Latifah, “NCIS,” “Bones,” “9-1-1” and a series regular role on the ABC drama “Mind Games” opposite Steve Zahn and Christian Slater. Jim Piddock is an actor, writer, and producer, who began his career on the stage in England, before emigrating to the U.S. in his early twenties. He made his theatrical debut in the U.S. in “The Boy's Own Story”, a one-man show about a soccer goalkeeper, at the Julian Theatre in San Francisco. The show was an instant success with critics and audiences, winning Jim the Bay Area Critics' Best Actor Award. The show was then produced Off-Broadway and he quickly gained the attention of the New York theatre scene. That same year (1982), he was cast in Noel Coward's “Present Laughter” by George C. Scott, who directed/starred in the revival, which also featured Nathan Lane, Christine Lahti, Dana Ivey, and Kate Burton. The show was a big hit on Broadway and Piddock soon found himself appearing in a string of Broadway and Off-Broadway shows, including the original US production of “Noises Off”, “The Knack” at the Roundabout Theatre, and “Make and Break” with Peter Falk at the Kennedy Center. After replacing Frank Langella in “Design For Living” at the Circle-In-The-Square theatre, he moved to Los Angeles and has since appeared in a long succession of tv shows, such as “The Tracey Ullman Show”, “Coach”, “Max Headroom”, “The Twilight Zone”, “Murder She Wrote”, “Mad About You”, “Angel”, “ER”, “Friends”, “Crossing Jordan”, “The Drew Carey Show”, “Lost”, “Monk”, “Without A Trace”, “Dollhouse”, “Party Down”, “Law And Order: LA”, “Castle”, “Two And A Half Men”, “Children's Hospital”, “Mom”, “The Royals”, and “The Grinder”. He has also starred in several notable tv movies and mini-series, like “From The Earth To The Moon”, “A Mom For Christmas”, “She Creature” on HBO, and “The Women Of Windsor”. He appeared in his first movie in the top-grossing film of 1989, “Lethal Weapon 2”, in which one of his lines, “But…you're black” in answer to Danny Glover's request to emigrate to South Africa, became a catchphrase for the film. Other feature film roles soon followed, including notable appearances in “Independence Day”, “Traces Of Red”, “Multiplicity”, “Burn Hollywood Burn”, “Austin Powers 3”, “A Different Loyalty”, “Love For Rent”, “See This Movie”, “Love For Rent”, “The Prestige”, “Epic Movie”, “Who's Your Caddy?”, “The Seeker: The Dark Is Rising”, “Meet The Spartans”, Woody Allen's “You Will Meet A Tall Dark Stranger”, “Get Him To The Greek”, “The Cold Light Of Day”, “The Five Year Engagement”, “1915”, “Think Like A Man Too”, and “Kill Your Friends”. But it is probably his diverse performances in the improvised Christopher Guest comedies “Best In Show” (as the Dog Show commentator with Fred Willard), “A Mighty Wind”, and “For Your Consideration” that he has gained the most attention as a chameleon-like character actor, barely recognizable from role to role. As a voice actor, he is most notable for providing the voice of Major Zero in the English version of the massively popular video game “Metal Gear Solid 3”, Bolero the Bull in the movie “Garfield 2”, and the fictional artistic director of Forever Young Films, Kenneth Loring, doing a hilarious commentary in the directors' cut of the Coen Brothers' “Blood Simple”. His voice work in animated tv series and in video games is extensive and includes “The Lion King”, “Extreme Ghostbusters”, “The New Batman Adventures”, “C-12: Final Resistance”, “Return To Castle Wolfenstein”, “The Lord Of The Rings”, “101 Dalmatians 2”, “The Bard's Tale”, “Dead Space: Downfall”, “Ben 10: Ultimate Alien”, Alfred in “Batman: Under The Red Hood”, “Batman: The Brave And The Bold”, “Skylanders: SWAP Force”, “Turbo FAST”, and “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles”. He currently released his best-selling book, “Caught With My Pants Down and Other Tales From A Life in Hollywood.” We are so grateful to have him as a guest on, “Black Canvas.”
This week, violence erupts at the Oscars during an unscripted episode between Best Actor Award recipient Will Smith and host Chris Rock. The ongoing conflict in Ukraine may have now reached a standstill, as Russian and Ukrainian officials meet to discuss moving toward an end to the conflict that has now raged for almost a month. However, the world's attention put toward the crisis unfolding in the East was temporarily diverted on Sunday, when during the 94th Academy Awards, actor Will Smith, who would later the same night go on to win the award for Best Actor for his role in King Richard, stormed the stage and slapped host Chris Rock following an unmemorable joke about Smith's wife, Jada Pinkett Smith. The incident has received an unprecedented amount of attention since Sunday, and we attempt to analyze the media response, as the Academy weighs options that might include disciplinary action against Smith for what many viewed as an assault on live television. Graham Greene and Aaron Wolf and Face2Face host David Peck talk about the new perfectly timed Halloween release Tar, the La Brea Tar Pits, real stories and real acting, monsters and kernels of truth that can be found in every story.TrailerThe film is now available on Digital and On Demand.Synopsis:Tar is a new thriller about a family business that is forced to shut down and move as the cities subway is expanding under their feet and the office building is slated for demolition. However, something primal is awoken by the underground construction, and a night of sombre packing becomes a desperate fight for survival! The 1091 Picture new film Tar, written and directed by Canadian Aaron Wolf, starring Timothy Bottoms (Golden Globe Nominee), Graham Greene (Academy Award Nominee) Tiffany Shepis and Max Perlich. Here’s a special message from Aaron:“As a Canadian, with my family being from Toronto, every time I get to bring a film home to my Motherland, it feels extra special. Summers in Toronto were a childhood happy place to me. As a kid, whenever I’d made a film or acted in something, the whole family would gather around my Grandparents TV and watch my stuff, the good, the not so good, and the ridiculous - lots of ridiculous. Now to be able to bring another film to Canada, this time getting to co-star with two fellow Canadians in Oscar Nominee Graham Greene,as well as Stuart Stone, it feels we are giving a movie set in Los Angeles, it’s Canadian blood, and once you see the film, a bit of mine. And most of all, getting to release the film in Canada makes me hope my Grandparents are looking down, from wherever they are, smiling.”About Graham and Aaron:Graham Greene was born in Brantford, Ontario, this Oneida Indian never thought about the acting profession during his youth. While working as an audio technician for a Canadian rock band, one of his co-workers encouraged him to try out the art. Greene was indifferent to the idea, until losing a game of cards to which he put his future career on the line.He attended The Centre for Indigenous Theatre's Native Theatre School program to try out his acting chops. After graduating in 1974, he started landing small roles in television, film and radio. He then crossed the pond to work on the London stage for a few years.Greene returned to Canada in the mid-1980s where he picked up his first major feature film credit, the historical epic, Revolution, opposite Al Pacino. Five years later, he landed the role of Kicking Bird in Kevin Costner’s Dances with Wolves. The part not only provided him with major exposure around the world, it garnered him an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor. With the door to the acting worldwide open, Greene took advantage taking major roles in films like Thunderheart, Maverick, Die Hard: With a Vengeance, Camille, and The Green Mile.Greene has also made a significant contribution to the small screen with regular gigs on the series The Red Green Show, Northern Exposure, Lonesome Dove: The Series, The Adventures of Dudley the Dragon, Wolf Lake and narrating the Discovery Channel's Exhibit A series. In 1992, he was honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Southwest Museum in Los Angeles, one of the nation's pre-eminent museums dedicated to the culture of Native Americans. In 2002, he won the Best Actor Award for his role in Skins at the Tokyo International Film Festival. In his native Canada, he has been nominated three times for Gemini awards and in 2004 he was honoured with the Gemini's Earle Grey Award.(With thanks to tribute.ca)Aaron Wolf is an American actor, writer and director best known for the feature documentary Restoring Tomorrow. He is the co-founder and President of Howling Wolf Productions based in Los Angeles, CA.Wolf attended New York University. He expanded his acting and improv education later while studying with The Groundlings. In 2012, Wolf wrote the film Guest House starring Michael Gross, Heather Lind and Mark Gessner. Since his early childhood he's had a great passion for horror films. He nurtured that passion by filming backyard VHS films, drawing his own slasher-comic series titled "Midnight", and religiously collecting every issue of Fangoria magazine. In college Tom studied the media arts for two years before eventually dropping out to work full time. With a handful of childhood friends that share in his taste for the macabre Tom recently put together an independent production company called "Theatre of Terror". With a mission to make quality low budget independent horror, they launched their first short film "Day 9" in January of 2013. Day 9 went on to secure digital distribution through SHORTS HDTV. Another of Tom's great passions is music. He's been performing in bands since the age of 17 and is the lead singer and bass player for the band "Vlad the Inhaler". The band released their first studio album "the Human Infection" in April of 2013. Vlad the Inhaler performed at the Macabre Faire Film Festival in June 2013 and Parafest in September 2013. Their 2nd album "The Aftermath" was released in late 2016. Shortly after the release of "Day 9" started work on his first feature film "FACES". Filming began in late 2013 and the production wrapped in August of 2014. The film premiered on October 10th at the Landmark Loews theater in Jersey City to an audience of over 250 people. Soon after submitting to several festivals the film was accepted to the NY Horror Show/Macabre Faire film festival (screening in January 2015). This is where the film won Audience Choice Best Feature, Best Soundtrack, and a Best Actor Award for Tom who played the lead character Frank Walker. "FACES" has recently secured distribution through Green Apple Entertainment. This week on NobodyAskd U- Lauren gives the LODown on The 92nd Academy Awards. Parasite cleaned up and Joaquin Phoenix accepted his Best Actor Award, for Joker, with a deep speech. He mentions the issue of one gender (men) dominating the other (women), but in 2010 this was an issue for him and Casey Affleck on the set of “I’m Still Here”. Does speaking against this type of behavior in Hollywood let Joaquin off the hook? Or does he need to formally address what happened in that hotel room? In other news, Chris Brown posted and deleted a video of Karrueche for Valentine’s Day, Kanye West passed out shoes in Chicago on Friday, and everyone should pass on Justin Bieber’s new album. During LIT Aprille talks about why comparing Sub-Saharan slavery (Africa) to Transatlantic slavery (Americas) gets Lost in Translation. We also give other opinions NobodyAskd for. 2020 Oscar Nominations ReactionThe nominees for the 2020 Academy Awards are out, and boy do we have some opinions. There are some heroes to root for, and plenty of snubs to detest so strap in for our reactions to the Oscars' ever-contentious list of nominations. Uncut Gems stayed true to the name, and couldn't make the cut for a single category, Lupita Nyong'o's jaw-dropping performance in Jordan Peele's Us appears to have been completely forgotten, and if you're Kevin, 1917 seems to be getting way too much credit. Also in this week's show, we dig in to our favorite scenes from all of film history, and we loved seeing the great responses from you at home using #SceneBlend. For our next show, you can play along using #MatthewMcConaugheyBlend as we'll be revisiting his filmography to determine our favorite performance from Matthew McConaughey.2:40 - Weekly Poll: Should We Do More Live Shows?4:47 - Oscar Nominations Reactions40:23 - This Week In Movies42:22 - #SceneBlendThis Week In MoviesDolittle (starring Robert Downey Jr., Michael Sheen, Antonio Banderas)Bad Boys for Life (starring Will Smith, Martin Lawrence, Vanessa Hudgens)Follow The Show HereReelBlend - @ReelBlendSean - @Sean_OConnellJake - @JakesTakesKevin - @KevinMcCarthyTVGabe - @gabeKovacs

节目组:The Screen Age 荧屏时代 节目名称:Scent of a woman开头曲 Por Una Cabeza-Thomas Newman B: Hello, my dear audience, Welcome back to the Screen Age. This is BobBee.L: Hey, friend. I'm Lynn. Well, BobBee, I saw a classical American movie last night. It's so excellent that I stayed up for watching it at midnight. And now, I'm keen to recommend it for you strongly!B: That's great! What's its name?L: It's Scent of a Woman.B: Oh, I've seen it. It's well worth watching it indeed. When the theme song Por una Cabeza sounded, my hot blood is boiling.L: Yeah, the pet phrase “Hooah” of Colonel is also charming.B: It's so interesting. Let's talk about it today.L: Great! 插曲1 Por Una Cabeza-Thomas Newman F: Young student Charlie has inadvertently witnessed the process of several students preparing to tease principal, the principal asked him to tell the mastermind of mischief, otherwise he will be punished. Charlie came to the veteran's home to do part-time job. Lieutenant Colonel was the head of President Linden Baines Johnson, who had experienced war and many setbacks, but was blinded in an accident. B: Blind makes Frank Colonel got a very sensitive auditory and smell sense, and even can identify its height, hair color and even the color of the eye by smelt other women's perfume. In fact, this is derived from his deep understanding of life and sentiment.F: He did nothing at home all day, lost his courage and confidence in life. He is ready to exhaust the last energy to enjoy a wonderful life. He traveled with Charlie, eating nice food, driving fast Ferrari, jumping tango with nice girl, live luxury hotel, and then want to end his own life.B: Charlie tried to stop the school's suicidal behavior, since the initiation of their feelings as father and son. So that Frank also recovered the courage and strength to live. The film finally Frank in the school Lecture Hall passionate speech, saved Charlie's future, satirical school hypocrisy. The two guys were reborn in each other. 插曲 2 Main Title-Thomas Newman L: One of the leader actor in this film is Al Pacino. In 1969, he first appeared in the film screen. Because of the perfect performance in the film The Panic in Needle Park, he was selected to be the leader actor of the film The Godfather. And it was such a great success. After four consecutive years, he won the Oscar for best actor or best supporting actor nomination. In 1993, he won the 65th Oscar Award for Best Actor Award and the 50th Golden Globe Award for Best Actor with the film Scent of a Woman.M:The other leader actor in this film is Chris O'Donnell. He played McDonald's fast food television advertising in his high school era. He is famous for the role of Robin in the film The Batman. Before playing Robin, he played a lot of roles in famous films, such as "Scent of a Woman", in this film he won the Golden Globe nomination. His brave and strong performance was showed in the film The Three Musketeers completely.L: In addition, the leader actress is Gabrielle Anwar. She tangoed with the best actor Al Pacino in this film. It is only a glimpse, but impressive. Her star road has widened since then. And she has gained high exposure among the new generation of actress. She is so charming in many films like The Three Musketeer. 插曲3 Main Title-Thomas Newman M: Movies often have lines that become part of our culture. The line from this one is hoo-ha! I don't know why for sure Pacino says that. He does though and it's great. Whenever I ask anyone about this movie, those who have seen it 99% of the time answer with a hearty hoo-ha!F: As for the performances: Pacino, I dare say, gave his best performance ever. It was also the riskiest. We're not supposed to like him, but we do. We can tell he doesn't think that Charlie is a moron. We can tell that he likes him in fact as a son. It strikes us as sad though. We can sense that this man has always been lonely. But then he lost his sight because of his mere stupidity and fondness for booze. He became even more lonely and sarcastic. Mean in fact, but funny.M: This movie once again proves that Pacino is one of the greatest actors of our time and that we all should be very glad he choose to portray Colonel Frank Slade in 'Scent of a woman', no one else could have done it. The story of 'Scent of a woman' stands and falls with Pacino's acting and the bringing alive of his character. It's touching and makes you smile and leaves you behind with the feeling that you've just have had the pleasure of meeting Colonel Frank Slade, a crazy but interesting man.B: I first saw this movie when I was staying with my grandma at her cabin. I was blown away. The story is great, the acting is perfect, and you can't help but get attached to the characters. The relationship, trust, and love that develops as the story unfolds is nearly unparalleled in modern cinema. One of Pacino's BEST performances. Not like some of his other roles. Chris O'Donnel actually puts in probably his best performance of his career. 插曲 4 Fleurs De Rocaille-Thomas Newman B: This is all of our program today, hope you like it.L: Don't forget to see the film Scent of a Woman!B: How time flies! The end of this period is coming. Never fail an exam.L: It's time to say goodbye. 最后感谢制作张安康。See you next time!B: Bye~ 结束曲 Fleurs De Rocaille-Thomas Newman 节目监制:刘逸超编辑:邹佳琳 毕鑫屹播音:赛碧乐(F) 杨旸(M) 邹佳琳(L) 毕鑫屹(B)制作:张安康
