Nicole, Julie, and the most LinkedIn-endorsed APIAQT podcast guest Hadley Staite complete their discussion in part 2 of our look at Princess Switch 3: Because It's Christmas, That's Why. Don't worry, we've got all the discourse in this half. How sophisticated is the justice system in this world? Does this movie adequately address the complexities of explicitly but only briefly mentioning that one of the characters is Filipena? And of course: who is queer-coded, why aren't these characters canonically bi and are the straight people in this movie ok?? Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
It's our long-awaited Princess Switch 3: Romancing the Star episode! Renowned horse-liker and conflict resolution expert Hadley Staite returns to join Nicole and Julie for a discussion of 2021's heist addition to the Netflix Holiday canon. The theft of a very important and real Christmas Artifact threatens to ruin the extremely plausible International Christmas Festival. Are Stacy, Margaret and Fiona the best people to get it back? No! But they're doing it anyway. If you've ever wondered about the world-building behind Belgravia and its neighbouring nations, strap in, because Hadley brings us a map that answers some of our questions and prompts many others. We could not possibly contain everything there is to say about Switchening the Heist into one episode, so watch for part 2 coming later this week! Did you watch this movie too? Well this episode bummed us out. Produced and pseudo-researched by Kristen Riley. Produced and edited by Daive Reed. Follow on Twitter @CastFiles Email us at TheeCastFiles@gmail.com https://www.teepublic.com/user/the-cast-files Music by Hal Six Logo by @OokaArt SHOW NOTES: Since this one was a bummer I wanted to reiterate my favorite anecdote, told by Jewel Staite about her co-star Michael Chieffo, who played her kidnapper and torturer in the episode.: "I do remember the man, Michael [Chieffo], who played my kidnapper was so lovely and so concerned that I would feel scared of him, I guess, or uncomfortable around him that he made an effort to be very sweet and warm with me, which my mom appreciated. I think my mom thought [it] was really classy of him." That was really nice, because this episode heavily played on an actual crime in which the girl did not survive. Polly Klaas was 12 when she was abducted and killed, her killer remains on death row today. Because of the similarities Fox's standards and practices was "uncomfortable" with the original screenplay because Amy Jacobs (Jewel Staite) was supposed to be 12 years old. The network decided it would be better if Amy was in her midteens so the production aged up her character to be 15. The actor, Staite, was 13 when she played the part. Oh! And on the Spotify playlist this week, the one Daive is always adding to, I made a suggestion. Since this episode everyone is searching for Amy, I went with If U Seek Amy by Britney Spears. All my peers, you're welcome. Xx Kristen
Silvana and Tegan discuss the table reads of the AI-generated scripts for Stargate, produced by The Companion. Marc Evan Jackson (The Good Place) served as the host to the table reading that included Amanda Tapping, Michael Shanks, David Hewitt, and Jewel Staite. The scripts were hilarious and yet somehow still captured the essence of the characters. We highly recommend checking out the recording at The Companion's website (linked below) if you are a Stargate fan. Links 1. AI Test - The Companion 2. Jewel Staite was five-years-old when an agent stopped her and her mom walking through a mall. Did the girl want to be in a TV commercial, the agent asked? Staite had no interest until her mom suggested that if she did it, she'd buy her some new outfits with the money. And she's been working in TV and films ever since.Mainly, she's been doing sci-fi shows that became cult favourites with fans, including Firefly with fellow Canadian Nathan Fillion, the spinoff feature "Serenity," and Stargate Atlantis. Since then, she's starred in The LA Complex, had a recurring role opposite Joel Kinnaman on The Killing and starred in the feature, "How to Have an Orgy in a Small Town."Her latest project is Family Law. Global's new Friday night drama is set and shot in Vancouver and stars Staite as Abigail Bianchi, a once promising lawyer who hits rock bottom after another booze binge until only one firm is willing to take a chance on her -- her father's. He's played by Victor Garber, and the two and the rest of the cast have already completed work on the series' first two seasons.Staite also shares what she's watching now, sings a bit of her all-time favourite TV theme song and answers whether or not she'd encourage her own five-year-old to get into the biz.

Netflix's shared universe of romantic holiday movies returns with 2018's The Princess Switch starring Vanessa Hudgens as Stacy, the fresh-faced and humble baker invited to an international competition in the micronation of Belgravia, where she meets Vanessa Hudgens as Margaret, the dutiful duchess who just wants a couple days off to cosplay Roman Holiday. Faster than you can say "vaguely incestuous" or "probably a felony," the two fun-loving Gabriellas swap places like so many Parent Traps. When I first reached out to Kerry Staite @klite_dynamo_power, the master mind of kLite, I had no expectations as to where the conversations was going to lead, but I knew it would be interesting. This week on the My Back 40 podcast, Kerry and I dive deep into mental health. You’ll hear how good timing and following his instincts led him to his journey into building the best dynamo powered lighting systems on the market. But this dedication had a cost.Poor mental health and depression are often also burdened with shame. People don’t openly talk about their struggles in this area as, often times, it’s too difficult and uncomfortable. Kerry knew he was going to pop and had to do something about it. Communication and positive lifestyle changes helped flip the switch and facilitate his healing.I really appreciated Kerry’s openness and vulnerability during our conversation. As hard as it is to discuss, talking about our mental health can be extremely cleansing and I would encourage anyone that is struggling, to try to find someone to talk to. It could be a close friend, it could be a mental health professional. The key is communication.I’m sure you’ll find some good takeaways after listening to this chat. I believe everyone struggles sometimes, so it’s helpful to know that we are not alone in our struggles to attain better mental health.
I'm excited to release my second interview with Kerry Staite, Chief "Mad Scientist" at kLite. Kerry is a forward thinking guy with perspectives that will make you go mmmmmhhhhh. If we are starved of anything in today's world its authenticity, but not today, not this episode, and especially not Kerry Staite. Hold onto your headphones, this one's coming in hot.
Richard Staite. Calm, understated, calculating. Richard currently runs ultras such as TDS, cycles (whole tour de France route), and competes in Iron Man races. That is just the tip of the iceberg! Richard describes how he loves the process of learning a sport, developing himself and others around him. A method, drive and love that has led Richard on a sporty journey to row for Great Britain and climb mount Everest on his way to his current conquests! This is a great, wide ranging chat about sport, as Richard says, “Enjoy the puzzle!" Stop Press! Between recording the podcast and publishing Richard together with partner Anna finished in 2nd and 3rd place overall at the 100mile Exodus Ultra in the Brecon Beacons of Wales!
Kerry Staite is the owner and founder of kLite. I've been a customer of his for a couple of years and have followed him on social media (@klite_dynamo_power on Instagram) with growing curiosity. It was this post that made me reach out to him immediately: "This is ME, I am kLite I wear no shirt of social conformity. I wear no hat to hide my hairless shame I am flesh and blood, I am free to be me. I am kLite" ~ Kerry Staite I pictured him as a mad scientist inventing cool electronic gadgets that are beyond my ability to comprehend. While I do still see him as a mad scientist type, he does an excellent job of explaining his products and how they work. After interviewing him for two hours I can confirm the statement he made in that Instagram post, "I am free to be me." He shared his ideas and perspectives without hesitation or fear of any backlash. It was refreshing. It was also informative. He is a wealth of bike and life knowledge that has come through a lifetime of experiences. I learned a lot and truly enjoyed our conversation. My favorite quote from the podcast was, "I don't give a shit if all I have is a bag of rice. As long as I get to do something I love that makes me happy." We will be recording another episode in the near future. If you have some questions for Kerry drop them in the comment section below and I'll get you answers! This week, I sat down with Kerry Staite from kLite to talk about how he developed his product, a dynamo powered light and charging system for bicycles and appearing on Shark Tank Australia. In the interview, we discuss: the challenges he’s faced with producing products while running as a lean, bootstrapped company redesigning the product […]

If Kevin and Kornflake sound exhausted, you can blame Boston Comic Con, which was huge and crazy and perhaps a bit overcrowded and WOULD ALL YOU MANIACS JUST GET OUT OF OUR WAY?!? Thank you. And you'll hear a couple of quick interviews with a new friend (Nashville's Superman, Allen Shervelle) and an old friend (Adventure Time artist Andy Ristaino, who has a great "Weird Al" Yankovic story). Also: National Radio Day is this week -- so you had better do as you are told.
