Break 1: Kia MOG (07.14.22 KIA MOG)   STORY 1:    Sheriff: Man Who Fired Shots At Gwinnett Jail Had Earlier Run-In With Deputies A man opened fire on deputies at the Gwinnett County Jail parking lot after earlier confrontations with law enforcement. No deputies were injured, but the shooter was wounded and taken to the hospital. The jail suspended new inmate intake and redirected traffic following the incident. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is investigating, and the shooter's identity and motive remain undisclosed. The man had previous encounters with deputies earlier that day, displaying erratic behavior. Sheriff Keybo Taylor praised the quick response of deputies and local police, ensuring community safety. STORY 2: Thieves Posing As Pet Owners Steal Dog In Duluth Gwinnett County police are seeking public assistance to identify two suspects who stole a Shihpoo dog from the Sugarloaf Summit Apartments. On September 9, the dog, named Lucy, got loose and was found by a witness at the pool. The witness posted about the lost dog on the Ring app. Two women later claimed the dog, calling it "Coco," and left in a blue Cadillac SUV without a tag. The suspects are described as young Black females, one with braces. Police urge anyone with information to contact GCPD detectives at 770-513-5300. STORY 3:   Collins Hill Grad Travis Hunter New Heisman Trophy Co-Favorite For the first time this year, non-quarterbacks Ashton Jeanty of Boise State and Travis Hunter of Colorado lead the DraftKings Heisman Trophy odds, surpassing Alabama QB Jalen Milroe. Jeanty, with 1,031 rushing yards and 16 touchdowns, is now at +225, up from +1000 last week. Hunter, excelling as a receiver and cornerback, moved to +300 from +700. Miami's Cam Ward, after a comeback win, is third at +400. Milroe dropped to fourth at +1100 after Alabama's loss. Other contenders include Oregon's Dillon Gabriel and Clemson's Cade Klubnik, with odds shifting based on recent performances. Dugger, an MFA graduate from the University of Georgia, expressed surprise and gratitude for the recognition. Known for her innovative approach, she plans to incorporate robotics into her art. Dugger, a Black woman and wheelchair user, draws inspiration from her unique perspective, often exploring themes of visibility and perception. STORY 5: Dacula Grad Will Hinton Looking Ahead After Paris Olympics After competing in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, Will Hinton, an Army staff sergeant and instructor/shooter, has been busy with training and competitions. Hinton, who finished 27th in Men's Trap, quickly transitioned to training in Michigan and competing in national championships, securing his spot on the U.S. National Team. Despite a hectic schedule, he plans a break in Colorado and some downtime during the holidays. Hinton, who learned valuable lessons from his Olympic experience, aims to qualify for the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles. He enjoys hunting and fishing in his spare time for relaxation. While she may be best known for her acting and singing, Vanessa Hudgens, is not new to entrepreneurship. The 34-year-old star, with 49 million Instagram followers, is behind Caliwater, a cactus water she said she drinks every morning. She also has a margarita line, which she co-created with Ashley Benson and Rosario Dawson for Thomas Ashbourne.  She first launched Know Beauty in 2021 with singer, Madison Beer. It was a somewhat complicated concept in which users used a DNA kit, which was used to pair them with personalized products matched to their skin type and concerns. Hudgens admits it didn't land and decided to go back to the drawing board entirely. Yesterday, she re-launched Know Beauty as a completely different brand. This time, it is sold on Amazon and has just one product, the $35 Glacial Bay Clay Mask. Hudgens partnered on the formulation with Cosmos Labs founder and CEO Mary Berry. On November 16th 2022, the Hudgens family of five was found dead inside their Phoenix home. Wife Marla Hudgens, her 3-year-old son Christopher, and her 6-month-old twin girls Faye and Gwen were all found with trauma on their bodies, and her husband Jasen Hudgens was found with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. Police believe Jasen killed his family before taking his own life. Time may have been ticking down to the house exploding, because first responders found a disconnected gas line in the home with propane tanks on the property. The Hudgens family seemingly had everything going for them: Beautiful kids, successful careers, and a lot of community involvement. The question is: What went wrong?

Hudgens, a School Counselor and Author of Saving Sycamore: The School Shooting That Never Happened, served first as an educator for eight years before pivoting to counseling in her district's middle school. In 2016, an armed 8th grade student came into her office. Distressed, he said he was planning to harm students and staff and that he felt she might be the only one to convince him otherwise.What happened next was a testament to Hudgens' philosophy in regards to what it means to be a school counselor and provide a supportive environment for her students. Hudgens said Sycamore allowed her the freedom and supportive environment to show the students and staff that student well-being is a serious and important topic. “...Our school, in particular, was light years ahead of where we needed to be in terms of counseling,” said Hudgens. Hudgens noted that she follows three steps to help support student well-being and school safety. The first is to make sure they are physically safe. Secondly, it is vital to address mental health concerns students or staff may have. Thirdly, Hudgens teaches students and staff about wellbeing and educates them on mental health topics. “There was always an open-door opportunity for students to meet with a counselor,” said Hudgens. She noted that counselors in Sycamore just have to focus on helping students. There are no expectations to make student schedules or help with testing. This provides flexibility in providing counseling for those who need it.
