This week on Horror Hour with the Hanna's, we dive into Together (2025), the bold and bizarre horror-romance starring Alison Brie and Dave Franco as a couple whose relationship takes a literal turn for the grotesque. When Millie and Tim retreat to a remote country home in an effort to reconnect, they find themselves physically fusing into a single being—an unflinching metaphor for codependency, emotional entanglement, and the loss of self in long-term love. Directed by Michael Shanks in his feature debut, Together is equal parts unsettling and strangely tender, blending dark humor with stunning practical effects and a surprising amount of heart. We discuss the film's surreal tone, its standout performances, and the way it turns an intimate relationship into full-blown body horror without losing sight of its emotiohttps://movieweb.com/author/taryn-flaherty/nal core. Wir sprechen darüber, was er sich bei The Substance, Das Ding und The Shining abgeschaut haben könnte.

Dave can't make it this week, so we (Megan and Evan) fly duo. Megan kicks things off by reviewing Michael Shanks's horror film TOGETHER (2:31), starring real-life couple Dave Franco and Alison Brie. It doesn't conclude quite as effectively as she hoped, but it still features some gnarly body horror and has something powerful to say about codependency. Next, we both discuss Kelsey Taylor's drama TO KILL A WOLF (20:12), a compelling modern take on the Little Red Riding Hood tale, which we love for its excellent performances, textured characters, and beautiful cinematography that celebrates the Pacific Northwest. After that, we cover Nick Rowland's crime thriller, SHE RIDES SHOTGUN (45:57), which stars Taron Egerton as a live-wire ex-con who must train his daughter to defend herself against the Neo-Nazis trying to hunt them down. It's violent, it's intense, and it kept us on the edge of our seats until its explosive climax. Lastly, in this week's Patreon exclusive audio, we talk about Tarem Singh's 2006 storytelling epic, THE FALL, starring Lee Pace!

This week's episode focuses mainly on the rapidly changing shape of international relations under the influence of the Trump administration.Keir Starmer made a major speech at Westminster signalling an increase in defence spending from 2.3 to 2.6% from 2027 onwards. This at the expense of aid and development. We analyse the speech and how he sought to secure not only support in the Commons but across the nation.Starmer flies out to meet Trump on Thursday in the wake of the USA siding with Russia at the United Nations over the war in Ukraine. How will he handle this? What does the UK's abstention in the UN Security Council vote tell us about this? In Germany the CDU/CSU became the largest party after the recent elections. However the far right AfD surged into second place. Will Merz, the leader of the CDU be able to form a coalition with the Social Democrats? Do his outspoken statements on Trump, NATO and Russia mean a complete change in pan European defence and security policy?Anas Sarwar claimed that the £200 million pound "investment" by the National Wealth Fund had secured the future of Grangemouth and showed the benefit of a Labour government. We subject both those statements to scrutiny.Along the way we look at the threat of AI legislation to the creative industries, Michael Shanks on Eigg, and biscuits. ★ Support this podcast ★

Silvana and Tegan watch Season 5, Episode 2 "Threshold". Silvana questions if Bae'tac has a life insurance policy out on Teal'c after this episode. Tegan does not recommend candles around oxygen tanks. Just a PSA for our lovely listeners. How does no one at the SG-C know Lord of the Rings well enough to recognize the name Va'lar? As usual, the ladies ask the hard hitting questions. Join the discussion or check out our season rankings on our Linktree. We will be returning October 14 with our next episode!
