The SG1 season 8 finale starts with Moebius, Part 1. Rachael LOVED this episode. As did Kerri. But this is overall a very good episode. How exactly do deliveries to a facility like Cheyenne Mountain work? Wouldn't some kind of National Security thing prevent things like that? Why do SG1 just decide the only option is for them to stay in the past forever rather than waiting for a time when the jumper is unguarded or put somewhere they can sneak into and get it back? Amanda Tapping is a comedy genius in the alternate future timeline. The little changes she makes to her physicality and expressions are so fantastic. We love her. And it's fun to see the show poke a little fun at itself in the new timeline. The day has finally arrived, lovely listeners, when we get to discuss this testament to postmodern television! Martin Lloyd is back and he has written a television show that is eerily reminiscent of the Stargate Program. Silvana and Tegan are excited to be joined by their very special guests Eric and their military advisor, Rob. Where was Katharyn Powers in this episode? Join the discussion on our socials.
Silvana and Tegan watch Season 5, Episode 9 "Between Two Fires". This is the end of the Tollan storyline and the end of Narim and his cat. Silvana explains Legends of the Hidden Temple to Tegan. The ladies discuss our duties as citizens of a nation and the better downfall of the Tollan via infiltration instead of invasion. Tegan still wants justice for Hebron, and we could have gotten it this time! The ladies also wonder whatever happened to Narim's feelings? Join the discussion on our socials.
Silvana and Tegan are joined by Eric, who discusses An Ascended Being Maxed Out My Credit Cards and his thoughts on Orlin. The three then discuss Season 5, Episode 7 "Beast of Burden". Chaka has been captured by offworld 'slavers' who use Unas for their menial labor. Daniel does his best to rescue Chaka without burning down this world, but will he succeed? Join the discussion on our socials.
Silvana and Tegan watch Season 5, Episode 6 "Rite of Passage". This episode brings back the character Cassandra but played by the actress from "Bane". Check out our episode on "Singularity" ("The Distant Land of Toronto") and "Bane" ("Get Jeff Goldblum! We've Got A Bug Transformation Problem!"). This episode reminds both ladies of the first X-Men movie. Someone is in a bed the whole episode, so of course Peter DeLuise directs. Join the discussion on our socials.
Silvana and Tegan watch Season 5 Episode 5 "Red Sky", the inferior cousin to "Scorched Earth." SG-1 accidentally messes up a planet's sun, threatening their planet and existence. The people on the planet just happen to believe that the Asgard are their gods and they aren't too ready to be told they worship false gods and need to evacuate the planet. Why didn't Teal'c have something to say about a society worshipping false gods? Why is it always about Jack and Daniel? The Asgard won't help, even though it's pretty unlikely the goa'uld are monitoring this 24/7. We meet the Asgard council for the first time and they aren't the biggest fans of Jack. The science in this episode seemed especially made up, unfortunately even amazingly talented Amanda Tapping couldn't pull off making it seem legit. But of course, everything was fixed in the end...but was it the Tauri, or was it the Asgard? We may never know. Join the discussion on our socials. New episodes released weekly on Mondays.
Silvana and Tegan watch Season 5, Episode 4 "The Fifth Man". If only they had made this the fifth episode!! The SG-1 team has a fifth member, or does it? An alien has convinced them that he is an injured member of their team in need of help. Will we ever see this race again??? Absolutely not. What if Simmons was a Reol? Silvana and Tegan come up with a great story line for the Reol race. Spoiler warning for season 1 of Rings of Power. Join the discussion on our socials. New episodes released weekly on Mondays.
Silvana and Tegan watch Season 5, Episode 3 "Ascension". In this episode an ascended being takes a shine to Sam and hitches a ride home so he can stalk her. If he stalks her long enough, will she love him? YES?! This Sam-centric episode has some great scenes: Teal'c in a cowboy hat, for example. However, even Amanda Tapping's great acting and Jack not into Star Wars can make up for all the scenes in which we are screaming. Silvana learns what she's supposed to say back to "live long and prosper". Tegan is shamed for not bringing a towel places. Silvana proposes having an onsite therapist at the SG-C for crewmembers and psychological analyses of aliens they encounter. What do you think? Join the discussion on our socials. Apologies for some of the background noise. There is a construction zone at Silvana's house that is thankfully over now! We'll now be back to our regularly scheduled episodes every Monday. Fan letters were saved until the end since we dove right into this episode. We couldn't stop ourselves. Thank you for your patience, lovely listeners!
Silvana and Tegan watch Season 5, Episode 2 "Threshold". Silvana questions if Bae'tac has a life insurance policy out on Teal'c after this episode. Tegan does not recommend candles around oxygen tanks. Just a PSA for our lovely listeners. How does no one at the SG-C know Lord of the Rings well enough to recognize the name Va'lar? As usual, the ladies ask the hard hitting questions. Join the discussion or check out our season rankings on our Linktree. We will be returning October 14 with our next episode!
Silvana and Tegan watch Season 5, Episode 1 "Enemies". This is the second part of a three parter, that the ladies are not fans of. Silvana and Tegan brainstorm some better storylines where the main drive of the plot isn't Teal'c being brainwashed. This episode gets the highest marks yet for technical quality. Thanks to Prop Nquity for the email! Check out "Pod Meets World" if you're a "Boy Meets World" fan. Join our discussion on the socials.
Silvana and Tegan discuss the tier ranking for Season 4 of "Stargate SG-1." There are some obvious episodes, like "Window of Opportunity" or "Point of No Return". Sorry, we were too late with our "Jane the Virgin" warning; you'll just have to find it somewhere else. Episodes with Jack/Sam romance immediately lose ranking. Silvana and Tegan take Sophia's opinions into consideration when deciding where to put "Entity". Surprisingly, "The First Ones" was a bigger hit than anticipated. Check out the tier ranking and other links on our Linktree.
Silvana and Tegan watch Season 4, Episode 21 "Double Jeopardy" and answer the question what does this have to do with the game show "Jeopardy"? This episode is Michael Shanks's directorial debut and features the actor who plays Lurch in the Addams Family. Harlan is back! He really does not understand what SG-1 does. Check out our instagram and other links on our linktree.
Silvana and Tegan are joined by their good friend and fellow podcaster, Sophia from Where's Beverly, for Season 4, Episode 20, "Entity". This is Sophia's favorite episode! She "must preserve!" Silvana dares Tegan to write the next fan fiction. Sophia explains why this is the best episode of Stargate. Sophia and Tegan discuss the medical inaccuracies in this episode, despite their onsite medical advisor. What would Stargate have looked like had Samantha Carter's body died and brought her back in a different body or used the robot Carter? Where have we seen that before... Check out our instagram and other links on our linktree. Where's Beverly Instagram Previous episodes with Sophia: "It's Equality"
TW: Suicide/self-harm Silvana and Tegan watch Season 4, Episode 18, "The Light". Once again, there is a strong need for a therapist on base, but there is not one! There's not even a trigger warning for this episode... SG-1 is challenged by a planet that has a narcotic effect on anyone that visits it. They meet a teenager named Loren and rescue him from this planet - to never be seen again. Silvana asks the most important question of this episode: Where are they defecating? is Teal'c an honorary Jehovah's Witness? Was there a Little Finger gao'uld equivalent? Check out our website, socials, and tier rankings on our Linktree.
Before we jump into SG1 Season 8 and Atlantis Season 1, we thought we'd do something a little different. This week, we watched Space Milkshake starring Amanda Tapping and a whole bunch of other awesome scifi actors. This movie is not good. It just didn't go far enough with how funny/silly it should have been. It really needed the Spaceballs treatment. Silvana and Tegan are joined by guest star, Eric, for Season 4, Episode 17 "Absolute Power". In this episode, the Harsesis Child arrives at the SG-C to make Daniel fall asleep and dream of an alternative reality. The three discuss the child actor chosen for the Harcesis Child. Tegan finds it weird that this is back to back with "2010", since neither results in much change in the overall storyline. Will absolute power corrupt Daniel Jackson? Absolutely. Is breakfast a conspiracy? Join the discussion on our socials.
Tegan and Silvana watch Season 4, Episode 16 "2010". This episode is one of Silvana's favorite episodes and takes place ten years in the future. The Stargate program has been revealed to the world when a highly advanced people called the Aschen offer to share their technology with Earth. Could they be why the Earth birth rate is dropping? Yes, of course it is. This episode has some excellent easter eggs, especially when the team visits the SG-C as a museum site. Tegan didn't enjoy this episode as much as Silvana, but what did you think? Is this one of the best episodes of Stargate SG-1? Silvana and Tegan watch Season 4, Episode 15 "Chain Reaction," and are joined by guest star, Eric! This is a Maybourne and Jack episode and splits Jack from the rest of SG-1. The three discuss how Stargate is unique in how contemporary espionage plays into the storyline. Also isn't Kinsey the worst? Maybourne's apartment leaves much to be desired. It makes a Gao'uld froyo shop look like a great option for daily living. Is Teal'c an honorary Millennial? Join the discussion; check out our Linktree.

Silvana and Tegan watch Season 4, Episode 9 "Scorched Earth". The ladies love this episode and suggest it as a great one to start people on Stargate. The SG-1 team are helping a group of people settle a new planet, but another civilization has already started terraforming it! How will the team solve this one? Answer: with the Daniel Jackson we've all been waiting for! With a little conversation, Daniel is able to solve everyone's problems. How is this advanced civilization not one of the original four races? This is rather like Horizon Zero Dawn, from the perspective of the Gadmere. Maybe it is just because Silvana is an Agile Coach, but this episode provides a great example of agile culture vs command/control structure. Join the discussion! Silvana and Tegan watch Season 3, Episode 19 "New Ground". The Bedrosians and Optricans are at war over their origin story, and SG-1 ends up in the middle of it. Like in the "Bane" episode, Teal'c's make-up is a little off, and this is an episode that provides an example of how the lack of diversity in the TV and make-up industry can impact the quality of the end product. A lot of the technical details are not great, and parts of this Stargate SG-1 episode drag. Also like in "Bane", Teal'c is seriously injured. In this episode he is blind and spends a great deal of time in a cave. The new characters on this planet are having their religion questioned by the very existence of SG-1 and the Stargate. Where are the tortured souls who are discovering their religion is based on a lie?! You should really explain how Zats work when you give them to people! I don't need to know all the details about these goddamn eye treatments but give me one blessed line saying "the second shot kills!" Tegan and Silvana are both excited Martuf is in this episode. That's about where the excitement ends. There's an underlying theme/tension of sexual assault that is handled extremely poorly. Peter DeLuise gets to director an episode where someone is not in a bed; congrats, Pete! Peter Williams (Apophis) returns as the Phantom of the Stargate Universe! But Teal'c isn't there? Amanda Tapping is beloved around the world for iconic roles on Stargate SG-1 and Sanctuary and her ever-growing list of television directing credits (including an impressive run as an executive producer on the cult favourite Freeform series Motherland: Fort Salem); Sabrina Rani Furminger is host of the YVR Screen Scene Podcast. Since Amanda and Sabrina's first interview together in January 2013 (for a Westender cover story entitled “What's next for Amanda Tapping?”), the pair have grown to become dear friends. In late November 2022, the pals packed their bags and flew to Paris, where Amanda was scheduled to appear at Paris Manga alongside her former Stargate SG-1 co-star Richard Dean Anderson – and while sipping bubbly beverages at a sidewalk bistro on the eve of the convention, they decided to record an episode of the YVR Screen Scene Podcast. In discussing this universally-loathed episode we explore the many ways in which Stargate comes up short here. What's the worst part of this episode? Take your pick between the racism, sexism, historical inaccuracy, bad writing, and making Amanda Tapping wear that damn dress! Safe to say that this one does not age well.
