Steve Kashul and Dr. Cole discuss potential future of Alabama Crimson Tide football player Landon Dickerson, their starting center, suffering torn knee ligaments in the SEC title game. When Landon Dickerson suffered what coach Nick Saban called a “pretty serious” knee injury a week ago, Alabama football lost more than the center of its offensive line. In some ways, it was losing the soul of the No. 1-ranked Crimson Tide (11-0). It was losing the gasoline that livened Alabama's fire.
Steve Kashul and Dr. Cole talk with Doug Plank about his experience playing at Ohio State and with the Chicago Bears. As a former NFL safety who played 9 years with the Bears, he suffered about 30 concussions and has had both shoulders and knees replaced.Seeing him hit was spectacular, like the finale of a Fourth of July fireworks show. But it never was about what he did as much as what he stood for. Watching him was understanding the power of the human spirit. The game of football, on many levels, is about self-sacrifice. Plank, with smelling salts in his waistband and blood dripping down the side of his broken nose, was a portrait of self-sacrifice.

We're back. Aaron joins me to recap episode two of The Last Dance docuseries. Check out my podcast feed - I've now released the first in a series of The Last Dance bonus shows, with two great guests who can personally relate to series: Marc Grossman - Head Statistician of the Bulls since 1977 (still working for the franchise today). Steve Kashul – for most of the 1990s, Anchor and Host of Chicago Bulls Basketball on SportsChannel and Fox Sports Net Chicago. He then transitioned to the role of Chicago Bulls Radio Host for more than 20 years. Marc details the creative ways the Bulls’ stats team allowed Jordan every-possible second of court-time, during his so-called ‘seven-minute per half’ restrictions, upon returning from his broken foot in the 1986 season. Steve talks about his question to Jordan that airs near the end of (The Last Dance) episode two, where he asked MJ about Pippen’s “earth-shattering comments” from Nov, 1997 – Pip had requested a trade, whilst still on the Bulls’ injured list.
