The NFL depth charts are pretty set! The rookies have landing spots! We now have a decent idea how the fantasy landscape will look come July! So it's time to put a stake in the ground and make some rankings. On today's podcast we'll tackle the scarcest position: running back. Beyond the first several names, there simply aren't a lot of sure things, and we'll talk about why. We'll also talk some about tight end ranks and why our first inclination is to once again *not* pay to get one of the highly rated ones. Fantasy draft strategy formulations begin now! Jason Licht and Co. have done a phenomenal job in years past of building a team and acquiring depth that we are now, for the second year in a row, drafting the best available player rather than drafting for need. As you know, we do not follow college and therefore are ill equipped to evaluate players coming into the draft. However, we can look at the Buccaneers roster and tell you where we are due for an upgrade. The most obvious place, in our opinion, is at the tight end position. We *hope* Rob Gronkowski has a gentleman's agreement with Jason Licht that he is coming back but will only sign after OTAs, etc. BUT in the event that's not the case, we have a serious dearth of talent at the tight end position. Cam Brate and Codey McElroy are the only tight ends on the roster. Any tight end the Buccaneers draft would have to be a blocker first. If we don't draft a tight end, it would indicate to us that the front office has a high degree of confidence that Gronk is coming back. The next position where we could potentially spend a draft pick is at running back. The Buccaneers secured Leonard Fournette this off-season and he is set to be the starter. However, he's benefitted the last two seasons from the one-two punch of Ronald Jones. Rojo became a free agent this offseason and signed with the Kansas City Chiefs. This year, Fournette has Giovanni Bernard, Ke'Shawn Johnson and Kenyon Barner. Despite Barner being a three-time Super Bowl champ, the talent drop off after Fournette is steep. What do we do if Fournette gets hurt? Spending draft capital at the position makes sense. This draft is stacked in the trenches, and the Bucs could use some depth at defensive line. We are still unsure if Ndamukong Suh will be back, but in any event another stud defensive lineman can't hurt. We have Vita Vea, Rakeem Nunez-Roches, Will Gholston and Pat O'Connor. But one injury to any of those and we're in trouble. In the event Suh doesn't come back, we need to replace his talent stack. Defensive line is a position where an upgrade would be useful. In this draft's installment of Know Your Enemy: - The Carolina Panthers are expected to draft Kenny Pickett at quarterback with the sixth overall pick. - The Atlanta Falcons are expected to go with a wide receiver at the eighth pick. - The New Orleans Saints are expected to draft either a tackle or defensive lineman with the 16th pick. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/buccaneers-observer/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/buccaneers-observer/support

Host Ian Hartitz goes solo to break down available targets around the league with free agency essentially wrapped up. Ian goes through outliers at running back, wide receiver, and tight end to determine which position groups are in the most need of additional help ahead of the draft. This can help us pinpoint situations where: 1) An existing member of the offense is set up for an enhanced role, or 2) Incoming talent has plenty of available opportunity to make an impact sooner rather than later. Notable players touched on: Saquon Barkley, Rondale Moore, Irv Smith, David Njoku, Auden Tate, Ronald Jones and much more.

Elon Musk has offered $43 billion to buy Twitter and take it private.  The board is debating whether or not to take it and this is just spectacular.      There were 5 murders in 24 hours in KC this week after we just had our two deadliest years ever.  Mayor Q said over two years ago that curbing violence was his #1 priority.  He has failed miserably.    It's an election year so dems are offering free money everywhere.  Some big money could be coming your way from the liberal governor of Kansas and the White House is getting ready to buy millions of young votes with a really expensive gift.    Patrick Mahomes has been posting videos on social working out with Travis Kelce, Ju Ju Smith-Schuster, Mecole Hardman, Marques Valdes-Scantling, CEH and Ronald Jones.  This is all before they can work together at Arrowhead and is a great sign Mahomes is on board and taking charge.

In the latest episode of the Arrowhead Pride Draft Room, Ron Kopp Jr, Talon Graff, and Bryan Stewart give their final thoughts on the Tyreek Hill trade. The Chiefs confirmed the signings of Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Ronald Jones which certainly doesn't replace Hill–but could be a sign of a shift in the Chiefs' offensive approach. Kansas City has reported interest in free-agent cornerback Stephon Gillmore or possible trade for Giants corner James Bradberry. So the guys discuss the position groups that still need to be addressed and rank the importance of those groups in the Chiefs winning the AFC once again. Learn more about your ad choices. We'll take you through the first five rounds of our PPR mock draft, but first let's talk about the Chiefs as they sign Ronald Jones and Marquez Valdes-Scantling (2:30). What does this mean for Clyde Edwards-Helaire and when should he be drafted? Does MVS hurt anyone in the Chiefs receiving corps? ... We get into our 12-team, 3-WR, PPR mock draft (16:05) beginning with where Leonard Fournette and James Conner were selected (17:40). They went in Round 3 with some other enticing RBs. Then we reveal the first five rounds beginning with Round 1 (21:10) and debate Alvin Kamara's case as a Top 6 pick. We also compare a team that started with 2 RBs to a team that started with 2 WRs (26:15) ... In Round 2 (30:50), the top TEs come off the board while Round 3 (35:40) represents a dropoff in talent. Round 4 has some good WR value (39:00), and finally the QBs come off the board in Round 5 (43:10). Does Dave regret passing up on Josh Allen? And we finish by reviewing our teams (49:30) ...
