This week on the KOKO Show we are joined by our favourite Trans-Tasman talisman, a bloke that brings the vibes to Kiwi Rugby and used to go by the nickname Sops but now for obvious reasons now goes by Slops. It is the one and only Mr Lima Sopoaga. With Lima riding pillion on this hot throbbing hog of a podcast, the boys get stuck into the Super Rugby Playoff picture, they reminisce about the Highlanders win in 2015 and they talk about how the kiwis can find the motivation to win in absolutely anything. Plus, the lads have a little fun with a game we like to call ‘A Schooner Of…' where they have to name a beverage that best suits a certain rugby union superstar. Despite the fact that Swoop's Temu Cupboard is still shut for a few more weeks the content mastermind was hard at work with a new segment called ‘The Great Pie Off'. In this segment the boys taste test three pies from Aus and NZ to crown the ultimate thick crust king. So sit back, relax and insert your electronic chess cheating device of choice. D'Arcy Waldegrave: The bold ambitions of the Blues' new CEO

The All Sport Breakfast

Play Episode Listen Later May 15, 2026 2:02 Transcription Available

The Blues' new Chief Executive Karl Budge has already marked his tenure with some bold statements. His brazen desire to hijack the wildly successful Super Round from Christchurch is an audacious move for the administrator who has an enviable record of success across the sports he has been involved in, notably tennis' ASB Classic. Like the target on the back of the Super Round, arguably a revery based dart, his pronouncement that the Blues home base Eden Park should be the teams' superpower is as fanciful as the Super raid. It's unlikely that the Blues could regularly stuff the park to near capacity, such is the palpable lack of success the team has experienced, and the yawning emptiness that the stadium presents when a meagre crowd is in attendance. However, even though Karl's pipe dream appears to be based on ambition cloaked in hope, the mere fact that he has approached this matter with such unabashed positivity, speaks volumes for his ‘why not?' philosophy in sport management. Along with the Hurricanes owner's calls for mass change in the Super Rugby ownership arena, the broom that has gone through NZR and the fresh approach in Super Rugby navigation, I dare say the want for an acceleration in Blues attendance-based passion isn't as sky-based pie as we would think. Karl also has a key ally in the limitless enthusiasm and drive of Eden Park CEO Nick Sauntner. If the Blues are to rise again and bring the ever-expanding Auckland populace along for the ride, these to blokes are the men to do it. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The Washington Hilton: 1/10 Between yet more violence and yet more conspiracy from all sides, too much of America is irreparably sick. King Charles: 8/10 By any standards or count, a tour de force. Solid, statesman-like, witty, clever and brilliantly executed. It is soft power, awesome diplomacy, brilliant engagement, all wrapped up in a flash royal bow. Winston vs the National Party: 4/10 I get it's election year. I get National are bleeding support to NZ First. But if they're not careful someone is going to say one thing or do one thing a bit edgier than they might have been expected, and it will all hit the fan. Super Round heads to the brand-new Te Kaha Stadium in Christchurch… and what a way to christen it. A full weekend of footy, packed stands, cracking atmosphere, and a proper festival feel — the kind of rugby showcase Super Rugby dreams about. The stadium? Unreal. The crowds? Even better. The results? Well… depends which side of the Tasman you're sitting on. The Kiwi teams absolutely ran the table. The Crusaders kicked things off by beating Waratahs, sending the Christchurch faithful home very happy in game one. The Blues nearly gave their fans heart failure but somehow scraped past the Queensland Reds in full squeaky-bum, extra-time chaos — thanks in part to a late penalty from Fraser McReight that went the wrong way. The Highlanders got the job done over Moana Pasifika, while the Chiefs handled the Fijian Drua. And the Hurricanes? Fehi Fineanganofo, WHAT A FREAK, too bad he's going to Newxastle. All in all — an absolute belter of a weekend, unless you're Australian… in which case, maybe skip this one. We crack a couple of beers, break down the action, butcher a few names, and talk a healthy amount of nonsense along the way. Grab a beer and enjoy
