A native of Fort Worth, Texas, Mr. Marrs earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism from the University of North Texas in 1966 and attended Graduate School at Texas Tech in Lubbock for two years more. He has worked for several Texas newspapers, including the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, where beginning in 1968 he served as police reporter and general assignments reporter covering stories locally, in Europe and the Middle East. After a leave of absence to serve with a Fourth Army intelligence unit during the Vietnam War, he became military and aerospace writer for the newspaper and an investigative reporter. Since 1980, Mr. Marrs has been a free-lance writer, author and public relations consultant. He also published a rural weekly newspaper along with a monthly tourism tabloid, a cable television show and several videos. Since 1976, Mr. Marrs has taught a course on the assassination of President John F. Kennedy at the University of Texas at Arlington. In 1989, his book, Crossfire: The Plot That Killed Kennedy, was published to critical acclaim and reached the New York Times Paperback Non-Fiction Best Seller list in mid-February 1992. It became a basis for the Oliver Stone film JFK. Mr. Marrs served as a chief consultant for both the film's screenplay and production. Beginning in 1992, Mr. Marrs spent three years researching and completing a non-fiction book on a top-secret government program involving the psychic phenomenon known as remote viewing only to have it mysteriously cancelled as it was going to press in the summer of 1995. Within two months, the story of military-developed remote viewing broke nationally in the Washington Post after the CIA held a press conference revealing the program but putting their own spin on psychic studies. "Psi Spies" is now available from JimMarrs.com. In May, 1997, Marrs' in-depth investigation of UFOs, Alien Agenda, was published by HarperCollins Publishers. Mr. Marrs has been a featured speaker at a number of national conferences including the Annual International UFO Congress and the Annual Gulf Breeze UFO Conference. Publisher's Weekly described Alien Agenda as "the most entertaining and complete overview of flying saucers and their crew in years." The paperback edition was released in mid-1998 and has since become the best-selling UFO book ever in the United States. Beginning in 2000, he began teaching a course on UFOs at the University of Texas at Arlington. In early 2000, HarperCollins published Rule by Secrecy, which traced the hidden history that connects modern secret societies to the Ancient Mysteries. In 2003, his book The War on Freedom probed the conspiracies of the 9/11 attacks and their aftermath. An award-winning journalist, Mr. Marrs is listed both in Who's Who in the World and Who's Who in America. Mr. Marrs has won several writing and photography awards including the Aviation/Aerospace Writer's Association's National Writing Award and Newsmaker of the Year Award from the Fort Worth Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists. In 1993, Mr. Marrs received Freedom Magazine's Human Rights Leadership Award. Mr. Marrs has appeared on ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, CSPAN, the Discovery, Learning and History Channels, This Morning America, Geraldo, Montell Williams, Today and The Larry King, Rob McConnell's 'X' Zone Radio Show and Art Bell radio programs along with numerous national and regional radio and TV shows. In April 2020, Katie and John Palmer, walking in their Denison, TX neighborhood are struck from behind by an F-250. The couple is knocked about 75 feet.  John Palmer, who suffers a broken back, crawls over to his wife, watching her take her last breath. The driver was later identified as Cory Foster, one of the Palmer's neighbors.  Foster tells cops that fog and sun glare prevent him from seeing the couple. Cops push for a breathalyzer test and Foster blows a .06 BAC, but no blood test was conducted.  House Bill 558 passed after Katie Palmer's death. This bill ensures that drivers are blood tested when involved in any accident that causes serious bodily harm or kills a pedestrian. The legal limit in Texas, is .08 BAC.  After questioning, a trooper takes Foster home. A jury find Missouri husband Beau Rothwell guilty of killing his pregnant wife missing. Jennifer Rothwell's  car is found abandoned just a mile from home. Beau Rothwell tells police he last saw Jennifer Rothwell, 28, that morning as she left for work.  Days later, Jennifer Rothwell's body is found in a wooded area along Highway 61 near Troy. An autopsy stated that she suffered blunt force trauma to the head. The day after Jennifer Rothwell went missing, Beau Rothwell is arrested.  Police believe he killed his wife — who was six weeks pregnant — sometime on November 11.  Search warrants alleged that Jennifer Rothwell used the internet to search, “What to do if your husband is upset you are pregnant.” The same documents also stated that Beau Rothwell cleaned up some blood and left a small window to the garage open, despite freezing temperatures, to “dissipate the odor.”  Beau Rothwell reportedly told authorities where his pregnant wife's remains were located. Turns out Beau Rothwell was having an affair and made a pro/con list on whether to stay in the marriage.   Joining Nancy Grace Today: Matthew Mangino - Criminal Defense Attorney (New Castle, PA), Former District Attorney (Lawrence County), Former Parole Board Member, Author: "The Executioner's Toll", Twitter: @MatthewTMangino, MattMangino.com Dr. Bethany Marshall - Psychoanalyst (Beverly Hills, CA), DrBethanyMarshall.com, New Netflix show: 'Bling Empire' (Beverly Hills) Dr. Tim Gallagher - Medical Examiner State of Florida PathcareMed.com, Lecturer: University of Florida Medical School Forensic Medicine, Founder/Host: International Forensic Medicine Death Investigation Conference John Guard - Chief Deputy – Pitt County Sheriff's Office (Greenville, NC), Specializes in Investigating Domestic Violence Cases Kristy Mazurek - Emmy Award-winning Investigative Reporter, President: "Successful Strategies"  See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Three young children found dead on a New York beach were allegedly drowned by their mother.  Police say 30-year-old Erin Merdy reportedly confessed to the murders. A 90-minute search was launched early Monday after several of Merdy's relatives called police, concerned that Merdy may have done something to her children.  The children ages, 7, 4, and 3 months, were found lying in the sand. Merdy, meanwhile,  was nearly two miles away on the Brighton Beach boardwalk. Merdy was soaking wet, barefoot,  and walking in her bathrobe. Speculation is that Merdy may have been drinking or suffering postpartum depression. No confirmation of either has yet been made.     Joining Nancy Grace Today: John W. A juror in Scott Peterson's murder trial granted immunity to testify in a San Mateo County courtroom. Richelle Nice is accused of lying on her juror questionnaire for Peterson's 2004 trial. Nice has been accused of lying, by not disclosing that she had filed for a protective order against her boyfriend's ex-girlfriend whom Nice said was stalking her. Nice also did not disclose she had been a victim of domestic violence. Peterson's attorney accused Nice of intentionally lying to get on the jury to convict the accused husband.  After more than five and a half hours, proceedings closed. The judge tells both sides to submit memorandums, if they like, by mid-September.
