Kevin Pietersen the cricketer was one of the greatest players ever to play the game. He was brash, swashbuckling, creative, innovative, destructive, gritty and brilliant. Kevin Pietersen the pundit, commentator.... is still many of those traits listed above, but he polarises opinion far more than many would realise! Even so, just like he did in an England shirt, he wears his heart on his sleeve and never ducks a delivery. He's a great listen... and he's our guest on this week's episode.
Former England captain Kevin Pietersen has caused a stir by suggesting the County Championship is replaced by a red ball franchise competition. Kevin Howells gets reaction from the ECB managing director of County Cricket Neil Snowball. They also discuss whether the T20 Blast is getting the attention it deserves with the emphasis on the Hundred and what lessons are being learnt following the Azeem Rafiq racism revelations.
The Cricket Badger, James Buttler, is joined by fan badgers Phil and Mark to assess the all-change at England, the Test squad, their chances against New Zealand, the County Championship season so far and whether Kevin Pietersen has a point. Sean Dickson became the leading run scorer in the country hitting 2 more centuries and Sir Alastair Cook still has it as he became the 5th player this season to score a hundred in both innings against Yorkshire.Middlesex might have the win of the season as they knocked off 370 in 75 overs to achieve the 8th highest run chance in County Championship history. We also look at Kevin Pietersen's franchise cricket proposal, an issue with this year's batch of red duke balls being behind the current high batting averages and how fast do you need to be to play test cricket.********** Leading Edge Cricket Links **********

Chris Tremlett – England Cricket Legend – Life & Mindset of International Sport & Business For a person involved in sport professionally, representing your country, is for most, the pinnacle of their career. Chris Tremlett is from a long line of cricketers. Chris was fully aware of the ratio of success from “promising youth player” to full test international and worked hard to beat those odds. Having represented his home county of Hampshire and then neighbours Surrey, Chris was selected for England and his fast bowling was used to great effect, taking 53 wickets for an average of 27 runs. Chris was a member of the Andy Flower side that claimed number 1 in the world, as well as being used to devastating effect in the 2010 Boxing Day Ashes test at the MCG, bowling out Australia for just 98. Chris talks to us about the mindset required to rise to the top in sport, and how these principals can be transferable into life and business. He describes playing with the outstanding talent that is Kevin Pietersen and sheds some light on his training habits that might not be obvious to the outsider looking in. He also discusses Ricky Ponting and interestingly, the two very different sides to his persona, dictated by whether you were on his side that day, or not. We are also lucky to have the lid slightly lifted on what life was like to share a dressing room and a team sheet with Shane Warne and his “rock and roll” lifestyle. Simon and Ben have an interesting discussion about the pressures of life, family and business for people who find themselves in their late 30's and beyond. We spoke to Chris just a day or so before he flew out to meet up with Kevin Peterson, Jonathan Trott, Monty Panesar and the rest of his England Legend teammates for their win in the Road Safety World Series in India Enjoy the show!
