This week, we're spending time with Melvin James Kaminsky, better known to the universe as comedy icon and director Mel Brooks! After lampooning westerns, monster movies, and world history, Brooks turned his signature sense of humor to the cinematic sci-fi outings of Star Wars, Alien, 2001, and Planet of the Apes. With an all-star cast including Rick Moranis, John Candy, Joan Rivers, Bill Pullman, and Daphne Zuniga, the film was born from a gentleman's agreement between Brooks and Star Wars creator George Lucas. In return for certain concessions (rule number one: no merchandising) from Brooks, Lucas agreed to handle some of the more technical aspects of the film through his special effects company, Industrial Light & Magic. The result was a cult hit, almost as beloved as the properties it parodies. With a long-promised sequel finally on the way in 2027 (colon The New One, not colon The Search for More Money), we're visiting a galaxy very, very, very, very far away to see if the Schwartz is still with Spaceballs! Josh drops a chopstick at a restaurant and, without thinking, flags down the waiter for a new one. Dion and Christian are baffled. To them, you pick it up, you wipe it, and then you keep eating. To Josh, that's grub behaviour! We try to work out where the line is between sensible hygiene and prissy fussing, and whether wiping a fork on your t-shirt actually does anything. Then Christian gets pulled up over a request he made in a work meeting: He asked people to turn their cameras on. We try and establish when the camera-off culture took hold, and whether eating during a meeting is a fair play or rudeness of the highest order. Plus: would you rather eat a Dorito in its current form, or shaped like a Pringle and stacked in a tube? Christian thinks Pringles have figured something out the rest of the industry hasn't. This week on Holly Randall Unfiltered, Holly sits down with the captivating Ava Amira for one of the most unexpected origin stories in the industry. Born in Baghdad and raised across four countries, Ava opens up about escaping war, rebuilding her life across continents, and how those experiences shaped the fiercely independent woman she is today. Before entering the adult industry, Ava worked as an international flight attendant, traveling the world while quietly rebuilding herself after a painful breakup and five-year engagement. She shares the deeply personal story of moving to Costa Rica for love, questioning her sexuality during what she calls her “asexual phase,” and realizing she wasn't broken, she was simply with the wrong person.Ava also pulls back the curtain on how she strategically entered the adult business, treating it like a career from day one. From studying the industry and connecting with veteran performers and agents to landing scenes with some of the biggest names in the business, Ava explains why preparation became her biggest advantage. The conversation gets candid as Ava talks relationships, dating, personal boundaries, staying single while building her career, and the mindset that keeps her focused in an industry built on distraction.Raw, funny, and surprisingly vulnerable, this episode is an honest look at reinvention, ambition, and knowing exactly what you want out of life.Huge thanks to SC World for sponsoring this episode.YouTube: @scworld.officialInstagram: @scworld.officialFollow Holly Randall: HollyLinks.comSubscribe for more exclusive interviews, bonus episodes, and behind-the-scenes content:Patreon.com/HollyRandallUnfilteredBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/holly-randall-unfiltered--6630320/support.

Send us Fan MailJerome Powell's term as Fed Chair ends May 15th, and his likely successor Kevin Warsh is poised to walk into the most fractured Fed since 1992. In this episode, we're breaking down what actually happened at Powell's final meeting, who the dissenters were and why, and what it tells us about the Fed Warsh is about to inherit. But the bigger question we're wrestling with is this: what does Kevin Warsh actually want to do? He's been remarkably vocal for 20 years about his views on monetary policy, and his philosophy represents a real regime change — a more unified Fed, less hand-holding of markets, a smaller balance sheet, and a return to the Fed staying in its lane. We walk through who actually sits on the FOMC and how voting works, what quantitative easing really is and why we started doing it in the first place, the difference between monetary and fiscal policy (and why people keep confusing the two), and why "lower rates" doesn't mean the same thing to all people — including why a Warsh Fed could theoretically deliver a cut to the Fed funds rate alongside higher mortgage rates. We also get into the so-called "Chairman's Curse" — the eerie pattern of catastrophe that has marked nearly every Fed chair transition in modern history — and what event-day risk around FOMC meetings might look like under a chair who wants to communicate less, not more. Plus: Powell's surprising decision to stay on as a governor and the uncomfortable question nobody wants to ask out loud — if we're never going to take our medicine on the deficit, what is the role of the Federal Reserve actually supposed to be?Shop our Self Paced Courses:Investment Banking & Private Equity Fundamentals HEREFixed Income Sales & Trading HERESubscribe to our Substack: https://substack.com/@thewallstreetskinny

A few years into your business, something shifts. The model that got you here starts to feel like it's holding you back - but changing it feels far riskier than building it ever did. In this episode, Anna Lundberg unpacks exactly why redesigning an established business is harder than starting one from scratch, and what to do about it. Key takeaways Past decisions become constraints - The offers and structures that built your reputation can trap you in a model that no longer fits, even when walking away feels too risky. More at stake means more resistance - The fear of disrupting income, client commitments, and a hard-won reputation isn't irrational. But letting it freeze the redesign entirely is where the real risk lies. Identity is the hidden blocker - A few years in, the business isn't just something you do - it's become part of who you are. Real redesign requires separating your identity from your business model before you can change either. Tweaking is not redesigning - Adjusting prices, redoing the website, and shifting messaging can all feel like progress without ever touching the structural issue underneath. Start with one room, not the whole house - Pick the single change that would make the biggest difference - who you work with, what you charge, or how you deliver - and work on that before touching anything else. Book a free call with Anna at onestepoutside.com/call to explore what a redesign could look like for your business.

Professor WHAM returns and talks about the meaning of Apocalypse in view of current events, wars and rumors of wars, End of Days, grief and how we should move forward.
In this follow-up conversation, Patrick Gentempo returns to discuss the release of MAHA: The Uncensored Truth About Medicine — now streaming free at mahamovie.com — and why he believes the health conversation is entering a pivotal moment. From food systems and ultra-processed products to regulatory capture and pharmaceutical influence, Patrick explains how modern medicine and policy didn't simply “evolve” — they were constructed. He connects the dots between corporate interests, agency oversight, and what he calls a long-standing crisis of public trust. But this episode goes deeper. Is the growing MAHA movement signaling an “era of truth”?Or is the bigger battle still ahead — over free speech itself?Patrick argues that medical freedom and freedom of speech are inseparable. He shares concerns about global censorship efforts, social media pressure campaigns, and how digital policy overseas could influence American discourse in the years ahead.Despite the warnings, he remains optimistic: informed citizens, common-sense health practices, and grassroots momentum may be shifting the tide. The real question:Can truth survive if speech doesn't?Support the show
Have you ever felt like your life still “looks right” on the outside… but no longer feels right on the inside? There are seasons when the roles, routines, relationships, or identities that once fit us perfectly begin to feel tight, restrictive, or strangely foreign. You can't quite go back to who you were — but you're not yet clear on who you're becoming. And that in-between space? It can feel disorienting, lonely, and even frightening. In this episode, I explore the quiet grief of outgrowing a chapter before the next one has revealed itself. We talk about why the brain clings to familiarity, why uncertainty feels so destabilizing, and how to move forward without a detailed map. I also share a powerful metaphor from Sleeping Beauty that beautifully captures what it means to cut through the thorns of transition with courage rather than certainty. If you're navigating a career shift, the end of a relationship, a relocation, or simply an internal awakening that's reshaping your identity, this conversation will remind you that you're not lost — you're in transition. The hallway between rooms isn't a mistake. It's a bridge. Tune in for reassurance, perspective, and the steady reminder that uncertainty doesn't mean you're off track — it often means you're evolving.

Should you register a new RIA, or simply buy an existing RIA?If you are considering transitioning your practice to the RIA model, you have multiple pathways to choose from. Some advisors conclude they want to have their own RIA, others conclude joining an existing RIA offering is the better fit, etc.If having your own RIA is your chosen path, you might wonder if simply buying an RIA (as part of your transition) is the easier route to take to get into the model, versus going through the process of formally registering a new RIA.As I explain in this episode (#141) of the Transition To RIA question and answer series, it is generally advisable in this scenario to register a new RIA, versus buying an existing RIA.Come take a listen!P.S. It's very hard if not impossible to to fight someone you've looked up to for a long time and Teofimo Lopez faced that challenge against Stevenson. He had to fight someone he knew was more skilled more experienced and an all-round better fighter. The sad part about it is he did nothing different to what he would've done had he fought anybody else a mistake that Stevenson prayed upon and that mistake made the fight very easy for Stevenson. People will now think less of Teofimo, but he remains a good fighter. It is just in the big moments, he's not able to maximise his talent and that's something he has to address.
Have you ever felt like you're floating between two versions of your life — no longer who you were, but not quite who you're becoming either? That in-between season has a name: the liminal space. And while it can feel disorienting, lonely, and unsettling… it's also where some of your deepest transformation begins. In this solo reflection, I'm sharing what I've been learning in real time as I move through a liminal season of my own — and how to stay grounded when life feels uncertain, unstructured, or emotionally unfamiliar. If you're in a chapter where nothing feels fully stable yet… I hope this episode helps you feel less alone, and more held.
Jesus warns that moral reform without spiritual rebirth is dangerous. Matthew 12 reminds us that true transformation isn't behavior modification, but becoming a new creation through repentance and life in Christ.
True Crime Today's week in review covers the Adelson case — Charlie's appeal arguments and Donna's prison transfer to South Florida.Charlie Adelson will be back in court February 3rd, 2026 — not for a new trial, but for twenty minutes to convince three appellate judges that the system got it wrong. His 91-page brief argues pretrial publicity in Tallahassee was so overwhelming that a fair trial was impossible. The numbers are stark: 96 of 130 potential jurors had heard of the case. Of the 54 who formed an opinion, 53 believed Charlie was guilty before testimony began. His team also claims defense attorney Dan Rashbaum had a conflict of interest — the same issue that exploded Donna's trial when Charlie revoked his waiver the morning of jury selection.Meanwhile, Donna Adelson has been transferred to Homestead Correctional Institution in Miami-Dade County. The woman who allegedly funded a contract killing because she couldn't accept her grandchildren living in Tallahassee is now thirty miles from her former life, behind razor wire, serving life without parole. She's filed her own notice of appeal. Criminal appeals succeed around five percent of the time.Five people convicted. Charlie in South Dakota over security concerns. Donna in Homestead. Katherine Magbanua in Ocala. The hitmen locked up. Eleven years from Dan Markel's murder to final judgment. And Wendi Adelson — named by prosecutors as an unindicted co-conspirator, testified under limited immunity at every trial, never charged.
