Chris and Sean cover a ton of news - the Israel/Gaza conflict, the march for Israel in DC, the attack on the DNC by pro-Hamas demonstrators, Hillary Clinton's clear stance on the issue vs. Obama's milquetoast response. They talk about the insanity of the young people on TikTok “discovering” the Letter to America from Osama Bin Landin and the spat between Ben Shapiro and Candace Owens. The U.S. House has passed a clean CR - something Sean predicted right after the motion to vacate was filed against McCarthy - and the Senate looks to be controlled by the GOP after the next election with the retirement of Joe Manchin. Coach Bianca Smith is our esteemed guest for Mixtape Talk 016. She also happens to be the second person on our 2023 Podcast Dream Guest List to join the Mixtape. Coach Smith made history in 2021 when she was hired as a coach by the Boston Red Sox organization. The hire made her the first Black woman ever to serve as a professional baseball coach. While Coach Smith may have burst on many people's radars with her historic hire, she has a journey made for Hollywood. She played softball and club baseball at Dartmouth. She earned two post-graduate degrees (one in law), interned in MLB front offices, and served as a volunteer coach at the college level. She applied for job after job after job, rarely hearing back from D1 programs and pro clubs. She worked seven paying jobs simultaneously, along with a volunteer coaching position. She earned her stripes to make history. Our free-flowing conversation is fun and authentic. We touch on Coach Smith's coaching style and philosophy, analytics versus the eye test, and how players respond to her instruction. We also discuss how life has changed for her since her hire. It's a fantastic talk. Coach Smith is genuine, passionate, extremely knowledgeable, and even a bit funny; in her own way. It was indeed an honor to have her on the Mixtape. HEAVY Music Interviews

When Chris and Renee Lahoud decide to commit to something, they most certainly go all in.Their upcoming self titled album for Project 34 is nothing short of grandiose. In nature, composition and scope.Featuring over 30 musicians from 13 countries, Project 34 is more than a musical group. It is an expansion of your musical psyche, stretched and moulded in directions you didn't even imagine possible.Spread over three separate chapters, Project 34 tells a cautionary tale, but also one with which every man, woman and child on this planet can relate to.It is unique and therefore special, and with the release date of December 1 looking large, Chris sat down with HEAVY to try and shed some light on the enigma that is Project 34.We start by mentioning the second single from the album, Prayer, which comes out on November 1."Prayer is a very special track for us," he explained. "That one was written by myself, Renee and our dear friend Matthew Walker. It's got a sad, somber, but yet also uplifting tone and is probably my favourite on the album. It's one of those more unique songs in terms of its direction. I tried to make the vocals as passionate and emotive as I could and I hope it portrays the feeling we were trying to convey. There's a very strong anti-suicide message in the video which is a theme throughout the song, and I feel the lyrics and the video represent that really well. The video is pretty confronting and will be difficult for some to watch, however it will be a bit of an eye opener for others. We really feel it has the potential to change a life, or impact a life. Having lost many friends and family to suicide we felt it pertinent to discuss the topic, especially in this time where mental health is of significance seeing what we've been through this last two years in particular."Prayer follows on from previous single Heritage, and given the concept behind the album we ask Chris if the two songs are connected in any way."They're somewhat connected," he measured. "The desert landscape is present in Sunrise and the Heritage videos are also present in the video for Prayer, albeit they are representing a form of Purgatory or limbo in Prayer. However, the tones of the tracks are not so connected, and you will hear very different directions between the two singles. We did this intentionally to express the broad nature of the album, so we varied those two releases accordingly."In the full interview, Chris talks more about the album and the concept behind it, the time that has gone into putting the album together, the three chapters and what they represent, committing the band name to the album and why now is the right time to do so, a history on Project 34, how he assembled musicians from all over the world, his selection criteria, future music and more.

Premise. A year after the series finale of The Good Wife, an enormous financial scam destroys the reputation of young lawyer Maia Rindell and wipes out the savings of her mentor, Diane Lockhart. The Good Fight is an American legal drama produced for CBS's streaming service CBS All Access. It is the platform's first original scripted series. The series, created by Robert King, Michelle King, and Phil Alden Robinson, is a spin-off and standalone sequel to The Good Wife, which was created by the Kings. On July 20, 2021, Paramount+ renewed the series for a sixth season. On May 27, 2022, it was announced that the sixth season will be the series' last; it premiered on September 8, 2022. As of September 15, 2022, 52 episodes of The Good Fight have been released. The Good Fight: Julianna Margulies Won't Return as Alicia Florrick. The Good Fight is set to return for its sixth season on Paramount+ sometime in the summer of 2022. You can see new photos of Braugher in the upcoming season of the popular series as well as read its official description down below. As it were, The Good Fight films in Brooklyn, in the borough's northernmost neighborhood of Greenpoint. Filming takes place at Broadway Stages, according to The Cinemaholic, which notes that giant posters of the Chicago skyline and other such props help The Good Fight pass off Greenpoint for Chicago. The Good Fight, a law series starring Christine Baranski, Audra McDonald, and Cush Jumbo is available to stream now. Watch it on Prime Video, Paramount Plus or The Roku Channel on your Roku device. The Good Fight season 6 will be the show's last. The series is a spinoff of The Good Wife, which was created by Robert and Michelle King for CBS in 2009 and proceeded to run for seven seasons through 2016. Fighting the good fight of faith involves running from sin and pursing things such as righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness. Fighting the good fight of faith is about making a choice – a choice to pursue God's will and a life of faith on a daily basis. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/chrisabraham/message

We are back with a brand new episode and today our special guest is Alex Salzman formerly of the great Westchester County New York band Tour De Force. This band once had a development deal with Geffen Records and a publishing deal with Warner Chappell Publishing, but in our view remains one of the greatest hard rock bands to never have that elusive major label release. Tour De Force wrote over 40 songs during their time and in this episode Tom & Mark take a trip down memory lane with Alex and talk about everything from the band's early days, their eventual album releases and right up to what Alex has going in his musical career today. We hope you enjoy this episode and to learn even more about Alex and see what he is doing since his days with Tour De Force, please visit his website at www.alexsalzman.com.

PLEASE LEAVE US A ***** FIVE STAR REVIEW ***** ON I-TUNES! When Steve and Mathew first got this idea, back in 2017, to create a podcast to encourage youth workers to keep going, it seemed like a fun, somewhat daunting, pie-in-the-sky concept. It also seemed like overkill. I mean, who needs another podcast? Who would listen? And who do we think we are? Until we got the most brilliant idea in the history of podcasting--use llamas in the branding. With that, the Youth Ministry Sherpas were born. Since then, it's been all uphill. Episode #00 launched on January 16, 2018. Now, nearly four years of adventures and outtakes, we've made it to Episode 100, which technically is something like Episode 207, but that's part of the story. In this episode, we celebrate our history together. The early awkwardness, the introduction of the insane idea to do 26 straight days of “Sherpa Shorts,” our trips to DYM 100 and the rental of the epic beachfront Sherpa House, the National Youth Worker's Convention that almost got stuck on the tarmac of BWI, and our entry into the humbling world of “Sherpa Legends.” Of course, we also share our blooper reel, which could double as a ventriloquist test pack. Anyway, with over 60 years of ministry experience, and 108 years of life, here is Episode 100 of the Youth Ministry Sherpas Podcast. A Tour De Farce, er, we mean, a Tour De Force.
