The British & Irish Lions Tour of Australia in 2025 in finally underway, as Brett McKay and Harry Jones rip into the first Lions Tour edition of the Weekend Post-Mortem for The 8-9 Combo Rugby Podcast. The Western Force asked plenty of questions of the Lions for as long as they could in Perth, before the tourists' class and experience rose to the top, sealing the 54-7 eight tries to one win to open their Australian tour with a win. Plenty of really good performers amongst then: Dan Sheehan, Joe McCarthy, ‘bellend-issimo' Henry Pollock, Tomos Williams, and the unflappable Finn Russell. Darcy Swain from the Force did his chances of a Wallabies recall no harm, too. Plus, the French Top 14 and US Major League Rugby Champions have been crowned as well, and the Springboks raised the bat against the travelling Barbarians in Cape Town. #rugby #rugbypodcast #89Combo #SuperRugbyPacific #UnitedRugbyChampionship #Premiership #Top14 #JapanRugbyLeagueOne #MajorLeagueRugby #LionsTour Find us: YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@8-9Combo?sub_confirmation=1 Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/1BcKhb24YOtwQhKc0S3sDm Apple: https://podcasts.apple.com/au/podcast/the-8-9-combo-rugby-podcast/id1729575866 Social media: #89Combo Twitter: https://twitter.com/89combo BlueSky: https://bsky.app/profile/89combo.bsky.social Find Brett and Harry on both Twitter and on BlueSky: @BMcSport + @HaribaldiJones Music: "Stalling" by Topher Mohr & Alex Elena (via YouTube Creator Studio) Voiceovers by Chookman + Sean Maloney Learn more about your ad choices. This week on The KOKO Show we have an absolutely smashing episode for you all. The lads are joined by the two Aussie British and Irish Lions Tourees, Mr Mack ‘Daddy' Hansen and Mr Sione ‘The Scot' Tuipulotu. We broke down with the boys, what it felt like to join this illustrious club, where they were when they got the news and which Australian watering holes they will be attending alongside their band of bad losers. Plus, we analysed and dissected the complete 2025 British and Irish Lions Squad with a fine tooth comb, as we tried to poke holes in their approach, highlight their weaknesses and work out how the Wallabies will win the series 3-0. Moreover, with all this hubbub about a certain red army approaching our shores, it would be easy to lose sight of all the cracking footy action happening right here in Australia and New Zealand. That is right, fear not our soggy and sodden Southern Hemisphere heroes, this week we give you all the major takeaways from round 13 of the Superb Rugby, the highs and lows of the Wallaroos' Pac 4 campaign and a smattering of juicy rugby news from around the world. Finally, the KOKO Crew are back to work hitting the whiteboards and breathing in the sweet nectar of alcohol based cleaning products in the hope of constructing an Aussie squad akin to the ‘Locked in Lions', that we are calling ‘The Lion Tamers'. The fellas will be picking four Australian players each week to join the noble ranks of ‘The Lion Tamers', with the sole ambition of crushing these pompous touring tea tossers. So, sit back, relax and steep your brew with the highly dysfunctional KOKO Crew.
