The New Orleans #Saints were a no show in their first road game this season at the Seattle #Seahawks. After a 44-13 wipeout, what now? It's a short turnaround for Coach Kellen Moore and company before next week's game at Buffalo? Derry's Dime addresses that, and Saints fans will share their thoughts on another Mano E Monday edition of Dattitude (Ep. 418) presented by Evangeline Securities. We'll also talk about LSU's win vs. Southeastern Louisiana and Tulane's ugly loss at Ole Miss.
What happens when the joy of pet sitting starts to fade into monotony? In this episode, we explore why the “ho-hum” feeling creeps in, from repetitive routines and emotional fatigue to physical exhaustion, isolation, and the comparison game on social media. We share how staying stuck in this flat season can impact client experience, dull attention to detail, and accelerate burnout. While monotony is a natural byproduct of sustained work, it doesn't have to define your business. By shifting perspective, setting micro-goals, refreshing routines, learning something new, and prioritizing real rest, you can reignite your motivation and keep showing up with purpose for pets and their people. Main Topics Why monotony shows up Risks of staying stuck Micro-goals to add novelty Reframing purpose and “why” Rest, learning, and experimentation Main takeaway: “Monotony isn't a sign that you don't care anymore. It's a natural byproduct of sustained, repetitive work.” If pet care feels flat, you're not broken—you're human. Start tiny: take a new route, set a micro-goal, or write today's update from the dog's point of view. Look for one new detail—different eyes, a funny ear curl, a new cue reinforced—and share it with the client. Reconnect with your “why”: this isn't just another walk; it's the highlight of a pet's day and peace of mind for their person. Rest on purpose, learn something new, and aim for just 1–5% better tomorrow. "Suits and Robots" uses Pro Tools as a percussion instrument. "Insta Jam" is a live modular synth piece. "Hugh" is an experimental track with Field Tone devices. The album concludes with a turntable jam with Gizmo Calder, marking a transition to new compositional projects. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Is your homeschool running on autopilot and losing its spark? You're not alone, and you're definitely not failing. In this special episode, I'm getting real about a syndrome I call the “Ho Hum Homeschool.” You know, when you're doing all the things, color-coded planners, checklists, math, and reading, but somehow, none of it feels like actual learning. The days start to blur together. The joy fades. You start wondering: why does this feel so hard? (And if it's just us, or if everyone's eating cereal for every meal in May.)Grab a cool drink, your favorite homeschool catalog, and let's have a gut-check. I'll walk you through the five big warning signs your homeschool might be a little (or a lot) off track, even if you look good on paper. Spoiler: It's not about buying new curriculum, hacking your whole schedule, or laminating every last thing in sight. But don't worry, I won't leave you hanging! I'm inviting you to my favorite (and totally free) workshop, The Case of the Ho Hum Homeschool, where we'll use some playful detective work and real-life encouragement to uncover the three small but powerful shifts that can bring the heart, the connection, and the joy back into your homeschool days. No trench coat required, I promise. Here's what we're covering:The true signs your homeschool is flatlining (even if you're “checking the boxes”)Why more curriculum and new schedules aren't the solution to burnout (and what is)Why fun and connection are always the first things to get cut, and how to fix itHow to design a homeschool day that actually feels good for your family (without the guilt or overwhelm)A behind-the-scenes sneak peek at my free, hope-filled workshop to help you reset before next year (even if you're already tired planning!)Mentioned resources:Sign up for The Case of the Ho Hum Homeschool workshopWonder StudiesOur episode on schedule ideasFree communityReady for clarity and actual hope (not just another to-do list)?Head to pambarnhill.com/hohum to save your seat for the workshop, free, actionable, and replay available!

I'd be remiss if I didn't thank you, the listeners/followers/subscribers and fans for your unwavering support, as well as the sponsors and guests who have been a part of this journey. (11:39) Baseball's season is coming down to this. Especially in the wild card races in the NL & AL. My beloved Mets won an ENORMOUS, MUST WIN (in my eyes) last night vs. the Phillies as the stage is set to clinch a wild card berth in Atlanta for three games starting tomorrow. Can they slay the demons of seasons past vs. their archrival? How about the Detroit Tigers? They now have the final spot in the AL wild card at the moment, overtaking the Twins who've collapsed, although just a game behind the Tigers as of today. Who will come out on top when it's all said and done? I'll break all of the latest playoff possibilities heading into the last week of the season. I'll also get into Shohei Ohtani's accomplishment of being the first player to hit 50 home runs and steal 50 stolen bases in the same year. Is this the best season by an MLB player ever? How about the historic game vs. Miami? Was that the best game played in the history of the sports? On the flip side, the Chicago White Sox have equaled the worst losing season of all time. Will they stand above the 1962 Mets sooner than later? And what happened to Nationals young star, CJ Abrams pulling an all night bender in Chicago? (36:50) Week 3 in the NFL had some surprises (Carolina's blowout win in Las Vegas. A 49ers collapse in LA. A no-show in Dallas by the Cowboys. Same for a Tampa Bay team where Denver ran roughshod over them.) but overall, there wasn't a lot of excitement or riveting action throughout The Shield on Thursday night/all day Sunday. Would I trade Bryce Young as rumors have come out about teams inquiring about his services? (55:30) The same could be said for college football Week 4. There were a couple of developments (i.e. Tennessee wins for coach Josh Heupel in Oklahoma. Michigan's QB throws for 32 yards in a WIN. Utah hangs on to win at Oklahoma State. Arch Manning's grade against UL-Monroe) but nothing much to write home about as we're a third of the way into the schedule. (1:00:32) Sixers center Joel Embiid signs a three year extension with championship expectations abound. Can he deliver considering his body hasn't held up over the past couple of years? The WNBA playoffs are here. It's been a hotly contested, compelling, entertaining and deserving of attention season, but unfortunately, I won't share my thoughts on this. Don't worry. It's not the league. It's yours truly. I'll explain. (1:07:24) A heavyweight fight took place in Wembley Stadium where Daniel DuBois disposed of Anthony Joshua in five rounds by KO. Is the heavyweight title fight a shell of its old self? The Thursday “What's Buggin' You” segment on the Bob Rose Show for 9-19-24
Not many 90s rock bands called Arkansas home, and even fewer looked to the straightforward radio pop of 1970s and 80s as a launching point for their sound. Yet on Ho Hum's 1996 debut Local, the band from Bradley, Arkansas tuned the radio dial to sounds of Big Star, The Plimsouls, The Knack, Dramarama, and early Tom Petty, to name a few, for their catchy, unpretentious sound. Though released in the middle of alternative decade, there isn't a note of angst or grunge to be found, instead forging a sound closer to likes of Velvet Crush, Sloan, Superdrag and Matthew Sweet at their most straightforward. From uptempo gems like opener "Around the World" to the infectious "Don't Go Out with Your Friends Tonite," to soulful ballads "Disappear" and "Superhuman," both featuring horn sections, the band clearly has an ear for an earworm melody. Songs In This Episode Intro - Around the World 21:15 - Here She Comes 24:41 - Pills and Guns 27:04 - Frozen 31:06 - Disappear 34:12 - Superhuman Outro - Don't Go Out with Your Friends Tonite Support the podcast, join the DMO UNION at Patreon.
