Partakers of the Divine Nature: Trinity Sunday (May 31, 2026) - Fr. Wesley Walker St. Paul's Anglican Church
Given at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Cottage Grove, Oregon.
"The name of a church shows how its community will pursue its mission." Sermon by the Rt. Rev'd Diana Akiyama, recorded live on Trinity Sunday, May 31, 2026.
In this homily given on Trinity Sunday May 31st, 2026, Father Mathias preaches on the fact that God, who is Father Son and Holy Spirit is love itself. Drawing from the Gospel, Father reminds us that God is for us and not against us; he has come to save us from our sins, not to condemn us. Father challenges to avoid a false spirituality of fear that has crept back into the Church masquerading as a traditional Catholic spirituality. He ends his homily offering a few reminders of how God relates to us in our sin for those struggling with a voice of condemnation in their hearts.
A sermon by the Rev. Canon Ashley Carr on Trinity Sunday (May 31, 2026) at the Episcopal Cathedral of St. Philip, Atlanta
All Jesus is the end of Matthew. It is fitting as Jesus is such a theme for Matthew throughout his gospel. At the end of this gospel Jesus reminds or emphasizes he has ALL authority and it has been given to him by the Father. He instructs his disciples to make disciples of ALL nations, in other words, ALL people. Disciples are to obey ALL Jesus has commanded them. That's a lot of ALL's. But then Jesus reminds them that he will ALWAYS be with them - ALWAYS. And He is. Through His Word, through His sacraments and through His Spirit, Jesus is ALWAYS with us, Always with us until He returns in ALL his Glory. Gen. 1:1–2:4a Acts 2:14a, 22–36 Matt. 28:16–20

Fifty days after Easter, we celebrate the outpouring of the Holy Spirit on Pentecost. Crossing all boundaries that would separate us, the Spirit brings the wideness of God's mercy to places we least expect it—to a crowd of strangers of different lands and tongues, to dry bones, to our weak hearts. Jesus promises his disciples that they will be accompanied by the Holy Spirit, and that this Spirit reveals the truth. We celebrate that we too have been visited with this same Spirit. Guided by the truth, we join together in worship, and then disperse to share the fullness of Christ's love with the world.Scripture Reading: Acts 2:1-21; Romans 8:22-27; John 15:26-27; 16:4b-15

Our curate of the last three and a half years, Fr. Michael Mayo, preached his last sermon as curate on this Trinity Sunday. We are incredibly grateful for the way he has poured into our congregation. Servants would not be where it is now - growing and thriving - if he had not joined our staff in 2021. He will be missed in ways that we can't even begin to understand now, and it's also true that we know that God is preparing the next congregation Michael will serve and we trust it will be another perfect fit. If you like what you hear, know we have other amazing clergy who remain at Servants, and we hope you'll join us in person if you're in the area.
