Imagine a seasoned grandfather pulling up a chair beside his restless, frustrated grandchildren — children upset about the apparent success of dishonest people and the seemingly unchecked wrongdoing in the world — and offering them hard-won, life-tested wisdom: don't fret. That is precisely the spirit Lia Girard finds in Psalm 37, written near the end of King David's turbulent life by a man who had seen plenty of evil, committed some of his own, and repeatedly returned to the God who proved faithful through it all. This is not the advice of someone who has lived a sheltered life. It is wisdom forged in the fire of real experience. Psalm 37 was written as an alphabetic acrostic — each stanza beginning with a successive letter of the Hebrew alphabet — designed to be teachable, memorable, and passed down through generations. And its message is as urgent today as it ever was: do not fret when wicked people seem to prosper. Refrain from anger. Wait patiently for God. Because divine justice is coming, in His perfect timing, by His sovereign hand. We are not called to be passive in the face of wrongdoing. We can still love, still serve, still reach out to those in need. But we are called to keep the faith, guard our own spiritual integrity, and trust that the God who sees every atrocity is not indifferent, and that wrath is not ours to wield. Bible Verse "Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; do not fret when people succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes. Refrain from anger, and turn from wrath; do not fret — it leads only to evil." — Psalm 37:7-8, NIV Ponder Today Fretting is not just unpleasant, it is dangerous. Psalm 37 warns that fretting leads only to evil. Unchecked anger over injustice, left to simmer, can pull us away from faith, integrity, and the peace God desires for us. God sees every atrocity and every wicked scheme. Waiting patiently for Him is not the same as believing He is uninvolved. He sees it all, and Psalm 37 promises that the swords the wicked wield against the poor will ultimately pierce their own hearts. David wrote this psalm as a man of deeply imperfect but genuine faith. His wisdom is credible precisely because he earned it through failure, repentance, and watching God come through in the mess. His counsel is not naive. It is seasoned. Stillness and action are not opposites. Being still before the Lord does not mean doing nothing. We can still love, serve, and reach out to those in need, but we do so from a place of trust rather than outrage, faith rather than fear. A Prayer for You Today God, I know You see our world in turmoil. It's hard to tamp down anger when I see wrongdoing seemingly rewarded with power and success. Help me stop the fretting in my heart. Remind me that You have this. Equip and guide me to do good in my own circle of influence, and to refrain from worry and wrath. Give me an overflowing measure of the inner peace only You can provide — and help me stay hopeful, joyful, and merciful in these confusing times. In Your mighty name, Amen. "Stadium Arcadium" von den Red Hot Chili Peppers erschien am 5. Mai 2006 und hat alles, was ihren typischen Sound ausmacht. Es brachte fünf Erfolgsongs hervor, darunter "Dani California". Eigentlich solle "Stadium Arcadium" sogar noch epischer werden. Geplant war eine Album-Trilogie, deren Einzelteile im Abstand von sechs Monaten erscheinen sollten. Am Ende blieb es bei diesem reichhaltigen Doppelalbum mit 28 Titeln. Trotz vier Grammys und über sieben Millionen verkaufter Exemplare, kam das Werk aber nicht an den Riesenerfolg von "Californication" ran. Das Besondere an "Stadium Arcadium" ist, dass die Chili Peppers quasi ihre komplette Karriere auf dem Album vereint haben, ohne sich zu wiederholen. Ihr kreativer Antrieb ist in jedem Song spürbar und verbindet den vertrauten Klang früherer Werke mit neuen Ideen. Der Opener "Dani California" zählt zu den größten Erfolgen der Red Hot Chili Peppers und ist ihr dritter und bis dahin letzter Top-10-Hit. Im Mittelpunkt steht eine Frau namens Dani, die vom lyrischen Ich verehrt wird und deren Geschichte auch schon in früheren Songs wie "Californication" und "By The Way" erzählt wird. Dani lebt in Armut und kennt kaum ein anderes Leben. In "Dani California" erreicht sie nach einer langen und harten Reise Kalifornien, wo sie schließlich zerbricht und stirbt. Ihre Geschichte wirkt wie ein Sinnbild für den gescheiterten amerikanischen Traum. Das Besondere an den Red Hot Chili Peppers, das hört man auch auf "Stadium Arcadium" deutlich, ist ihr außergewöhnliches Zusammenspiel als Band. Die Songs werden gemeinsam geschrieben und entwickelt, wobei jedes Mitglied seinen Raum zum Glänzen bekommt. Unterstützt wurden sie von Produzent Rick Rubin, der bereits mehrere ihrer Alben betreut hatte. Sein Ansatz ist bewusst zurückhaltend. Die Band arbeitet beim Songwriting organisch, oft ausgehend von einer Idee wie einem Riff, einer Strophe oder einem Refrain. Daraus entwickeln sich nach und nach vollständige Songs. Mandy Manglers Buch „Don´t miss the Clitoris – eine Bedienungsanleitung“ – geht mit einem Zitat aus einem Christina Aquilera Song los.I´m a genie in a Bottle, BabyYou gotta rub me the right way - da war natürlich sofort klar – hier hat ein Lied etwas mit Halt und Orientierung zu tun – ich frag mal nach und …- das ging dann ganz fix mit der Zusage – danke Mandy Mangler Der wiederkehrende Refrain "I'm a genie in a bottle / You gotta rub me the right way" besingt, dass Erfüllung und Lust an den richtigen Umgang gebunden sind. Der "Genie" ist mächtig, doch mächtig ist der Flaschengeist nur, wenn die Person, die ihn befreien will, weiß, wie. Das ist eine gute Parallele zur Klitoris: sie ist ein zentrales Lustorgan, das Erregung und Orgasmen maßgeblich beeinflussen kann — doch ohne Wissen über Lage, Struktur und richtige Berührung bleibt dieser Zugang verschlossen. Der gute Geist bleibt in der Flasche. Denn sexuelle Erregung ist komplex, individuell unterschiedlich und erfordert Kommunikation, Kenntnis über den eigenen Körper und dem Körper von anderen und natürlich Respekt.Daher sollte dieses Wissen nicht weggeschlossen werden, sondern wir sollten offen darüber reden – schon die Aufmachung des Buches mit einer ganz auffallenden Klitoris fordert dazu heraus. Und der Song natürlich auch.Viele von uns sind mit Begriffen wie Kitzler, Schamlippen oder Scheide aufgewachsen. Diese Wörter sind historisch gewachsen und tief im Sprachgebrauch verankert. Gleichzeitig transportieren sie – oft unbewusst – Vorstellungen von Scham oder reduzieren den weiblichen Körper auf eine funktionale Rolle – ein Ort wo etwas weggesteckt werden kann.Gerade im schulischen Kontext sollte ein Raum geschaffen werden, in dem Sexualität sachlich, respektvoll und selbstbestimmt thematisiert werden kann. Die bewusste Wahl von Begriffen ist dabei ein kleiner, aber wichtiger Schritt. The Buddha was a philosopher, meditator, spiritual teacher, and religious leader who is credited as the founder of Buddhism. He was born as Siddhartha Gautama in India in 566 BC into an aristocratic family and when he was twenty-nine years old, he left the comforts of his home to seek the meaning of the suffering he saw around him. After six years of arduous yogic training, he abandoned the way of self-mortification and instead sat in mindful meditation beneath a bodhi tree. On the full moon of May, with the rising of the morning star, Siddhartha Gautama became the Buddha, the awakened one. The Buddha wandered the plains of northeastern India for 45 years more, teaching the path or Dharma he had realised in that moment. Around him developed a community of people, drawn from every tribe and caste, devoted to practicing this path. Nowadays, he is worshiped by most Buddhist schools as the enlightened one who has escaped the cycle of birth and rebirth, transcending Karma. Their main teachings focus on their insight into duhkha meaning “suffering” and into Nirvana, which means the end of suffering.

Nachdem ganze drei Stunden Aufnahme-Material im digitalen Nirwana verschwunden sind, ist sie jetzt endlich da: unsere Episode mit Suli. Und ja – aller guten Dinge sind drei. Suli gibt Einblicke in die Szene und macht klar: Gute Kindermusik ist eigenständig, durchdacht und darf auch einfach nur zum Zuhören einladen, ohne dass ständig Mitmach-Action nötig ist.Auch ein kurzer Ausflug in Songwriting und Struktur darf nicht fehlen. Am Beispiel eines erzählenden Liedes wird deutlich, wie Musik ohne klassischen Refrain funktioniert und stattdessen durch Storytelling getragen wird.In den Hausaufgaben treffen schließlich zwei musikalische Welten aufeinander: ein intensives, emotionales Post-Hardcore-Album mit starken Kontrasten und eine ruhige, atmosphärische Indie-Folk-Produktion aus der Schweiz. Die Eindrücke reichen von Begeisterung bis vorsichtiger Neugier.Nach diesem Einstieg geht es dann richtig los: Wir tauchen tiefer in Sulis Werdegang ein und sprechen darüber, wie man zur Kinderliedermacherin wird, was sie antreibt und wie sich ihre musikalische Arbeit entwickelt hat.Suli Puschban ist eine Musikerin, bei der man ziemlich schnell merkt: Musik war nie nur ein Hobby, sondern von Anfang an Teil ihres Lebens. Schon als Kind war sie ständig von Klängen umgeben – ihr Vater spielte Klavier, während sie im Bett lag und zuhörte. Diese Momente waren für sie mehr als nur Hintergrundgeräusche, sondern ein Gefühl von Geborgenheit, das sich tief eingeprägt hat. Gleichzeitig wurde viel gesungen: im kirchlichen Umfeld, in Singkreisen, mit klassischen Liederbüchern. Musik war einfach immer da – ganz selbstverständlich.Trotzdem kam ihre eigene musikalische Richtung nicht aus einer konkreten Kindheitsheldin oder einem klaren Vorbild. Vielmehr entwickelte sich ihr Weg erst später, als sie begann, selbst Songs zu schreiben und andere Musikerinnen und Musiker kennenzulernen, die ähnlich dachten und arbeiteten. Gerade dieser Austausch hat sie geprägt und bestärkt, ihren eigenen Stil zu finden.Heute liegt ihr Schwerpunkt klar auf Kindermusik – wobei das Wort fast zu klein klingt für das, was sie macht. Ihre Lieder richten sich zwar überwiegend an Kinder, nehmen diese aber ernst, sowohl inhaltlich als auch musikalisch. Statt einfacher Mitmach-Nummern setzt sie auf Themen aus der Lebenswelt von Kindern, kombiniert mit vielfältigen musikalischen Einflüssen, die auch Erwachsene ansprechen können. Ein Ansatz, der zeigt: Kindermusik muss weder banal noch vorhersehbar sein.Im Laufe ihrer Karriere hat sie sich in einer Szene etabliert, die genau diesen Anspruch verfolgt – moderne, anspruchsvolle Musik für ein junges Publikum. Dabei geht es nicht nur um Unterhaltung, sondern auch um Haltung, Kreativität und künstlerische Freiheit. Gleichzeitig ist sie gut vernetzt, arbeitet mit anderen Künstler:innen zusammen und bringt sich in Projekte und Veranstaltungen rund um Kindermusik ein.Was sie dabei besonders auszeichnet, ist ihre Perspektive: Kinder müssen nicht ständig bespaßt werden. Why Do My Words Keep Getting Me Into Trouble?"In the multitude of words there wanteth not sin: but he that refraineth his lips is wise." — Proverbs 10:19Social media has multiplied our words beyond anything Solomon could have imagined. In his day, your words reached the people in your immediate circle. Today, your words can reach millions. And every word is permanent. Screenshotted. Shared. Weaponized.Solomon says in the multitude of words there is no lack of sin. That means the more you talk, the more likely you are to sin with your words. And social media has created a multitude of words like never before. Tweets. Posts. Comments. Stories. DMs. Replies. We're producing more words in a day than our grandparents produced in a week.And all those words are getting us into trouble. Because we're posting in anger. Commenting without thinking. Tweeting reactions instead of responses. Sharing opinions that should stay private. And every careless word is creating problems.Here's what social media has done. It's removed the natural consequences that used to restrain speech. In face-to-face conversation, you see the person's reaction. You feel the tension when you say something hurtful. You experience immediate feedback. But on social media, you don't see the damage your words cause. You just hit post and move on.And because there's no immediate consequence, we say things online we'd never say in person. We're harsher. Crueler. More judgmental. Less gracious. Because we're not looking into someone's eyes when we wound them with our words.Solomon's solution is simple. Refrain your lips. Talk less. Post less. Comment less. Not everything needs to be said. Not every opinion needs to be shared. Not every thought needs to be tweeted. Wisdom restrains words.But our culture celebrates the opposite. It rewards people who post constantly. Who have hot takes on everything. Who never miss an opportunity to weigh in. And the result is exactly what Solomon predicted. In the multitude of words, sin abounds.Here's my challenge. Before you post, ask yourself: Is this necessary? Is this true? Is this kind? Will this help or hurt? If you can't answer yes to those questions, don't post. Refrain your lips. Or in this case, refrain your thumbs.The wise person on social media isn't the one with the most followers or the wittiest replies. It's the person who restrains their words. Who thinks before posting. Who values silence over constantly adding to the noise.In the multitude of words there lacks not sin. Social media has given us unlimited capacity for words. But it hasn't given us wisdom to handle that capacity. And until we learn to restrain our lips, our words will keep getting us into trouble.Let's pray: Father, we post too much and think too little. Teach us to restrain our lips. Help us to speak less and listen more. Give us wisdom about social media. Protect us from the sin that comes with too many words. Enduring patience is the best of all ascetic practices; The best of everything at all is called Nibbāna by the sage. If you cause harm to anyone you can't be called a genuine monk! Refrain from harming and abuse, and strictly keep the Buddha's rules; Be moderate when taking food, and dwell alone in solitude devoted to the Higher Mind - That is what all the Buddhas teach. The Buddha recited this concise summary of the whole practice leading to Nibbāna on the full moon of Magha, at the 'Sāvaka-sannipāta', the spontaneous gathering of 1,250 Arahant Bhikkhus, all of them ordained by the Buddha himself. Ajahn Dhammasiha also explains that the Veluvana (Bamboo Grove Monastery), the location of Magha Puja, was the first monastery ever offered to the Buddha. King Bimbisāra of the Kingdom of Magadha offered a park to the sangha, located outside the gates of his capital Rajagah. The Buddha accepted it and declared that the monks are now allowed to accept property the to be owned by the sangha communally (but not by individual monks). However, the monks continued to live in the open and under trees even in the newly offered monastery. The billionaire banker of Rajagaha saw the monks still living in the open, and asked the Buddha for permission to erect buildings for them. It also reminds us to not get caught up in comparison. It will only agitate us, and nothing good comes from this. The Fallacy of Stealth Mode Hello, this is Hall T. Martin with the Startup Funding Espresso -- your daily shot of startup funding and investing. Startups often choose to stay in stealth mode in the early days to protect their idea. In most cases, stealth mode doesn't help the startup and can actually hurt it. Here's the downside of going into stealth mode: It's difficult for others to help the startup because they don't know what is going on. It's harder to hire for the startup because it's a secret. You can't tell customers about it because you may reveal too much. It's difficult to talk to investors because the startup wants everyone to sign an NDA. Startups that commit fraud are often in stealth mode to hide their activities. Instead of going into stealth mode, be open about what you are doing. Refrain from explaining to everyone how you are doing it. This gives exposure to the startup for investors and customers. Consider keeping certain functions as a trade secret. Investors will appreciate the fact that you have intellectual property in the form of a trade secret. They will be less impressed by your stealth mode.
