ASSASSINATION PLOTS AND THE MIRACLE OF NEW YORK Colleague Patrick O'Donnell. In 1776, a conspiracy orchestrated by Loyalist Governor Tryon to assassinate George Washington and destroy Patriot gunpowder supplies was uncovered. Thomas Hickey, a member of Washington's own Lifeguard, was implicated and subsequently executed. Later, during the Battle of Long Island, the Continental Army faced destruction, trapped against the East River. In what O'Donnell calls an "American Dunkirk," the Marblehead Regiment utilized their nautical skills to ferry 9,000 troops to safety in Manhattan under the cover of darkness and fog, saving the revolution from collapse. The Chicago Bears didn't make the big splash fans were hoping for — but they did make the move they needed. Ryan Poles trades for DE Joe Tryon-Shoyinka, adding a former first-round pick to a defensive line that just lost Dayo Odeyingbo to a torn Achilles. Chicago also tried to land Jets pass rusher Jermaine Johnson, but the second-round asking price was too steep. On today's episode of Chicago Bears Central, Haize breaks down why this wasn't a “headline” deadline… and why that's actually the right call for a team that still needs draft capital to rebuild the core.We also dive into:✅ Ben Johnson's detailed breakdown of QB Caleb Williams' midseason progress ✅ C.J. Gardner-Johnson's instant impact after just one week in the system ✅ Where the Bears rank statistically entering Week 10 — the good, the bad, and the surprisingThis is a big-picture episode for fans who want to understand where Chicago truly stands and how each piece fits into the long-term plan. Stick around — there's a lot more here than just the trade.Subscribe for more daily Bears analysis and keep up with everything happening at Chicago Bears Central.Podcast Links: https://linktr.ee/ChiBearsCentralGet at us:Email: ChicagoBearsCentral@gmail.comTwitter:@ChiBearsCentralPhone: (773) 242-9336Our Sponsors:* Check out Cigars International and use my code BEARSCENTRAL for a great deal: https://www.cigarsinternational.comAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

Easing up, letting things come to you, and practicing being present is a recurring theme in recent episodes of this series, and that mindset is on full display once again in this episode on The Wood Brothers. I sat with Oliver Wood, Chris Wood and Jano Rix backstage at the 2025 Earl Scruggs Music Festival, ahead of their Friday night headlining set at the award-winning event. It was one of the most jovial and insightful conversations I have had in quite a while, and we covered a lot of ground, ranging from the band's sonic evolution and their penchant for improvisation and letting their subconscious steer the way in the studio and on stage, to their perspective on bluegrass and banjo icon Earl Scruggs, to Chris Wood's British Columbia farmstead and Jano Rix' salsa dancing. All that and more, including excerpts of songs from their ninth album, Puff Of Smoke, awaits you here. As first reported by Oregon ArtsWatch, a new education pavilion is opening on Sep. 20 at Tryon Creek State Natural Area located in Southwest Portland, near Lake Oswego. The new education center allows the nonprofit Friends of Tryon Creek to hold community events and educational programming year-round for students to gather for classes, day camps and field trips inside the roughly 660-acre day-use area. Friends of Tryon Creek is also leading the fundraising and construction of the $2.6 million education pavilion, which was built on the forest floor and features a design based on traditional plankhouses used by Indigenous Northwest tribes as communal gathering spaces for ceremonies, potlatches and other events. Four Indigenous Northwest artists have also been commissioned to create artwork that will be put on permanent display inside the pavilion. Six western red cedar lodgepoles were sustainably harvested from local forests and used for the new construction, along with bluestone that was used for the interior hallway to represent Columbia River basalt preserved in the landscape. Friends of Tryon Creek executive director Gabe Sheoships is Cayuse and Walla Walla and a citizen of the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation. Artist Shirod Younker is Coos, Miluk, Umpqua and a citizen of the Coquille Indian Tribe. They join us to share how they hope the new education pavilion will help students and visitors appreciate the pre-colonial history of Tryon Creek and the surrounding region.

The conversation shifts to the broader issue of infighting within the GOP, as Brad from Taylor's warns that Republicans are losing focus and wasting energy on internal conflicts, risking a Democrat takeover. We also discuss how transplants from blue states are bringing their political views into the area, and the challenges conservatives face in navigating these differing ideologies. Lastly, we cover President Trump's plan to dismantle the Department of Education, emphasizing the need for local control and the failure of federal policies to improve education outcomes. Numerous wildfires are burning in the Carolinas, including a fire near Myrtle Beach prompting the evacuation of residents in Carolina Forest in Horry County. Other fires are burning near Tryon, North Carolina and across the region.Latest high-resolution ensemble guidance continues to suggest a large area of elevated to near-critical fire weather conditions in the lee of the Appalachians and across the Southeast this afternoon. A very dry airmass has settled across the region in the wake of a dry cold front, with current surface observations indicating dewpoints between 25-35F. Highs near 70F today will support several hours of critical minimum RH values near 20-30% amidst receptive fuels and breezy downslope west/southwesterly surface winds. At this time, the best overlap of stronger surface winds (sustained winds near 20 mph and wind gusts 20-30 mph) and critical fuels appears to be across portions of western North and South Carolina, where a Critical fire weather area has been introduced. The Elevated area was also expanded farther across portions of the Northeast, along the Appalachians, and across the Southeast.
Welcome to today's episode, where we're diving into something we all experience but often try to hide: our mistakes. Those moments when we stumble, fall short, or completely miss the mark. But what if I told you that these mistakes might be your life's most powerful wisdom-bringers? Those uncomfortable, sometimes painful missteps could actually be disguised gifts. As Tryon Edwards so perfectly put it: "Some of the best lessons we ever learn we learn from our mistakes and failures. The error of the past is the wisdom of the future."Think about it. When everything goes according to plan, what do we really learn? It's in the gaps, the unexpected detours, where actual growth happens. That project that failed spectacularly? It probably taught you more than a dozen successful ones. We're culturally programmed to avoid mistakes at all costs. We're taught that success means getting it right the first time. But this mindset robs us of the rich learning from getting it wrong. Some of humanity's greatest innovations came from mistakes—penicillin, microwave ovens, and even chocolate chip cookies! The creators didn't just make errors; they paid attention to them. And here's something we don't talk about enough: mistakes connect us. They remind us of our shared humanity. When we're vulnerable enough to admit when we've messed up, we create space for authentic connection with others. For many of us, our most transformative life chapters began with what looked like failure. The relationship that ended painfully led to deeper self-knowledge. The career setback forced us to reevaluate our true calling. So in today's episode, we'll hear from people who've turned their biggest mistakes into unexpected gifts. We'll explore practical ways to extract wisdom from failure rather than just trying to move past it quickly. And we'll talk about how embracing imperfection might actually be the key to living with more courage and authenticity. Whether you're recovering from a recent mistake or trying to build a healthier relationship with failure, this conversation is for you.

Nina Simone - Be My Husband Hess Edit By Petko Turner 3 DL > https://hypeddit.com/mrturner/bemyhusband-petkoturner Nina Simone (/ˈniːnə sɪˈmoʊn/; born Eunice Kathleen Waymon; February 21, 1933 – April 21, 2003) was an American singer, songwriter, pianist, arranger, and activist in the Civil Rights Movement. Simone employed a broad range of musical styles including classical, jazz, blues, folk, R&B, gospel, and pop. Born in North Carolina, the sixth child of a preacher, Waymon aspired to be a concert pianist. With the help of a few supporters in her hometown of Tryon, North Carolina, she enrolled in the Juilliard School of Music in New York. Waymon then applied for a scholarship to study at the prestigious Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, where she was denied despite a well-received audition. Waymon became fully convinced this rejection had been entirely due to racial discrimination. Years later, two days before her death, the Curtis Institute of Music bestowed on her an honorary degree. To make a living, Eunice Waymon changed her name to "Nina Simone". The change related to her need to disguise herself from family members, having chosen to play "the devil's music" or "cocktail piano" at a nightclub in Atlantic City. She was told in the nightclub that she would have to sing to her own accompaniment, and this effectively launched her career as a jazz vocalist. Simone recorded more than 40 albums, mostly between 1958, when she made her debut with Little Girl Blue, and 1974. She had a hit in the United States in 1958 with "I Loves You, Porgy". Simone's musical style fused gospel and pop with classical music, in particular Johann Sebastian Bach, and accompanied expressive, jazz-like singing in her contralto voice
