Clifton Guterman is a casting director, director, producer, teacher, and member of the Atlanta performing arts community since 2001. Presently, he is Head of Film & Television Division at Big Picture Casting. Clifton formerly served as the Alliance Theatre's Artistic Assistant (four seasons), as Casting Director and National New Play Network Producer in Residence at Actor's Express, where he is an Associate Artist and Teaching Artist, and as the Associate Artistic Director/Casting Director of Theatrical Outfit (eight seasons). He is a member of the Advisory Committee for The Georgia High School Musical Theatre Awards (The Shulers), the Chair of the Artists Advisory Council of ArtsATL, and a member of Arts Leaders of Metro Atlanta's class of 2020. Clifton has cast over 100 productions in Atlanta (for Actor's Express, Agnes Scott College, Horizon Theatre, Theatrical Outfit, True Colors Theatre Company, and others). He has directed locally with Alliance Theatre (Kendeda Festival), The Atlanta Opera, and Theatrical Outfit. As an actor, Clifton has appeared locally with Alliance Theatre, Actor's Express, Dad's Garage, Synchronicity, and Theatrical Outfit. Regional acting highlights: Arena Stage, Berkeley Rep, California Shakespeare Theater, San Jose Rep, Weston Playhouse, Barrington Stage, and The O'Neill Center. The Cool Soror Collective welcomes Aubrey-Simone Williams to the show today. This Cool Soror of SGRho wears many hats. She is the founder of TheACTivists Theatre Company and is also currently serving as a producer on Fox Soul TV. Aubrey has studied and trained at the Shakespeare Globe Theatre in London, England, the Stella Adler Studio of Acting in New York City, as well as Robert Mello Studios and the Alliance Theatre in Atlanta, Georgia. Her formal education includes a B.I.S. in Theatre Performance, a B.A. in Film, and an M.A. in African American Studies -all from Georgia State University. In addition to producing theatre and television, Aubrey’s recent projects include directing the touring production, “Black Matter” and partnering with Kenny Leon’s True Colors Theatre Company for their “Act Like A Lady” program. She is also a proud member of C4 Atlanta and the Dramatists Guild. Aubrey’s published projects include: Black Matter: The Play, Black Matter: Poems of Perseverance, and “The Last Poets” for the Black Power Encyclopedia – 2019. Director Kenny Leon’s production of "Much Ado About Nothing" mesmerized audiences during last summer’s Shakespeare in the Park. Now, you can watch this exuberant, sassy, and political performance, starring "Orange is the New Black’s" Danielle Brooks, on PBS’s Great Performances. We talked to Kenny Leon about how he approaches a new production and how Shakespeare’s comedies speak to our present moment. Leon is the founding artistic director of True Colors Theatre Company and Artistic Director of Atlanta’s Alliance Theatre. In 2014, he won the Tony Award for Best Director for his revival of "A Raisin in the Sun." Leon’s recent film work includes Netflix’s "American Son" with Kerry Washington, which he also directed on Broadway. His memoir, "Take You Wherever You Go," was published by Grand Central in 2018. Jamil Jude is a director, producer, playwright, and dramaturg. Self-identifying as an "Artist Plus", Jamil feels most at home bringing socially relevant art to the community. Jamil is the Associate Artistic Director at Kenny Leon’s True Colors Theatre Company in Atlanta, GA as well as the Co-Founder of The New Griots Festival. He was a participant in the Leadership U: One-on-One program, funded by The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation and administered by Theatre Communications Group. The program provided him a residency at Park Square Theatre, in St. Paul, MN, where he worked as Artistic Programming Associate. Prior to that, he served as the National New Play Network (NNPN) Producer-in-Residence at Mixed Blood Theatre Company. Jamil has helmed productions for companies such as the Olney Theatre, Forum Theatre, and Curious Theatre, as well as various Twin Cities’ theatre companies, including Park Square Theatre, History Theatre, Freshwater Theatre, Stages Theatre Company, and Daleko Arts. Jamil's next directing project is KING HEDLEY II at True Colors, running 2/13 through 3/11/2018. Jamil talks with Marc about sharing the African Diaspora experience through his work, his new role with True Colors Theatre, his vision for 21st century theater with more community conversations around the art, his deep appreciation for the plays of August Wilson, and his desire and hope for more diversity and opportunities for people of color in theater communities.
