Ryan Wedding, a former Olympic snowboarder, has been added to the FBI's 10 Most Wanted Fugitives list. He's accused of running a drug trafficking network and orchestrating multiple murders. A $10 million reward is being offered for his capture. New evidence is being revealed in the case against Bryan Kohberger, the man accused of killing four University of Idaho students more than two years ago. The evidence includes a series of texts sent between the two surviving roommates who were inside the house at the time of the murders. New Mexico officials are expected to share new details on Friday into the investigation of the deaths of actor Gene Hackman and his wife, Betsy Arakawa. The couple's bodies were discovered in their Santa Fe home last month. At least 164 measles cases have been reported across nine states this year, with two unvaccinated patients — a child in Texas and an adult in New Mexico — dying from the virus. Health experts warn that measles can weaken the immune system, increasing the risk of future infections in a condition known as "immune amnesia." CBS News medical contributor Dr. Céline Gounder explains the long-term impact. New data shows layoffs increased last month to the highest level since the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic. Meanwhile, Friday's unemployment report revealed employers added 151,000 jobs in February, which is below economists' forecasts. MoneyWatch correspondent Kelly O'Grady reports. Ringo Starr made his Grand Ole Opry debut in Nashville last month, performing the country classic "Act Naturally," a song he and The Beatles first covered in the '60s. While best known for rock, Starr has always had a love for country music. In a new concert special airing Monday on CBS, he celebrates the genre at the historic Ryman Auditorium. Anthony Mason sits down with him to discuss the performance. Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo's powerful duet "Defying Gravity" highlights the stunning visuals of the"Wicked" film, where costume designer Paul Tazewell reimagined Oz through more than 1,000 intricate designs. With a Tony for "Hamilton" and an Emmy for "The Wiz Live!," Tazewell is now closer to EGOT status after making history at the Academy Awards. Fifty Key Stage Musicals: The Podcast

THE WIZ COMPOSER: Charlie Smalls LYRICIST: Charlie Smalls BOOK: William F. Brown SOURCE: L. Frank Baum's book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz (1900) DIRECTOR: Geoffrey Holder CHOREOGRAPHER: George Faison PRINCIPLE CAST: Andre DeShields (The Wiz), Mabel King (Evillene), Stephanie Mills (Dorothy),  OPENING DATE: Jan 5, 1975 CLOSING DATE: Jan 28, 1979 PERFORMANCES: 1,672 SYNOPSIS: During a violent tornado, Dorothy is transported from Kansas to the magical land of Oz. In order to go back home she must first speak with The Wiz. Accompanied by her friends The Scarecrow, The Tin Man, and The Cowardly Lion, Dorothy begins an adventure down the Yellow Brick Road to meet the Wiz.  Accessing the universal themes in L Frank Baum's The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, The Wiz retold the classic story through a contemporary African-American lens. The show proved the potential for success in big-budget, fantasy stories with all Black casts. Jerrell L. Henderson traces the modes in which Black creatives and audiences were relegated to segregated theatres, how Black performers were cast in shows written by white individuals, and how marketing of musicals became focused on Black communities in relation to The Wiz.  Jerrell L. Henderson is a Director and Puppeteer. Upcoming Puppet Short Films include, Hamlin: La Revue Sombre with Handmade Puppet Dreams and Diamond's Dream with Chicago Children's Theatre. He performed his signature puppetry piece, I Am The Bear, this fall with Chicago International Puppet Festival's Living Room Tours. "Come on and ease on down, ease on down the road..." For our second week in The Wizard of Oz Month, we're discussing the 1975 Broadway musical The Wiz: The Super Soul Musical "Wonderful Wizard of Oz" with music and lyrics by Charlie Smalls (and others) and book by William F. Brown. In addition to reading the show's script, we watched the 1979 film adaptation starring Diana Ross and Michael Jackson as well as the 2015 production of The Wiz Live! starring Shanice Williams, Queen Latifah, David Alan Grier, and more. This cultural sensation's plot is remarkably faithful to L. Frank Baum's original Oz book, but there are plenty of moments of adaptation to talk about along the way. Within these three formats - the script, the movie, and the TV adaptation - we find plenty of variation! We discuss Dorothy's different relationships with Aunt Em, Diana Ross's strange arrival in Munchkinland, the Scarecrow's songs, the Kalidah and Poppy battles, the owl therapist, Queen Latifah as a female Wiz, the lessons Dorothy learns along the way, and much more! Join our community! "Are you a good witch or a bad witch?" We are starting The Wizard of Oz Month with the classic 1939 film starring Judy Garland, Ray Bolger, Jack Haley, Bert Lahr, Billie Burke, Frank Morgan, and Margaret Hamilton. Drew and Cassie start by revisiting their personal connections to this nostalgic musical film before talking through the plot that has been majorly streamlined from L. Frank Baum's original novel. We talk through many of the smart and fun changes the movie makes, like expanding the Kansas scene and swapping out the silver shoes for ruby slippers. We talk about the movie's dedication and opening shot, the origins of the farmhands, the transition from Kansas to Oz, Glinda's questionable motives, Buddy Ebsen's lingering presence, the snow that saves them from the poppies, and more! Plus, you will not want to miss Cassie's unique connection to this movie! Next time, join us as we discuss the 1975 Broadway musical The Wiz: The Super Soul Musical "Wonderful Wizard of Oz"  by Charlie Smalls and William F. Someone as prolific and consistently stellar as Queen Latifah needs no introduction. At every surprising turn of her career as an actor, musician, and producer, she's used an exacting work ethic and irrepressible enthusiasm to inspire women like her. “There were no blueprints for a lot of what I was doing,” she says of her beginnings in the music and filmmaking industries. How has she persevered for so long? “You have to fail,” she advises. “I, luckily, was thrown out there in enough things to fail and cry and get up and fail and cry.” After blazing trails as one of the first women in jazz-rap at age 17, Queen Latifah refused pigeonholing in the biz, getting her start onscreen in Spike Lee's “Jungle Fever” and Will Smith's “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.” She's since starred in “Living Single,” “Set It Off,” “Bringing Down the House,” “Chicago,” “Last Holiday,” “Hairspray,” “Bessie,” “The Wiz Live,” “Girls Trip,” “Star,” “Flint,” “The Little Mermaid Live,” and “Hollywood,” earning an Emmy Award, three SAG Awards, two NAACP Image Awards, and an Academy Award nomination. But it was a huge hit, leading to Peter Pan Live, The Wiz Live, Hairspray Live and most recently Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert. IndieWire's TURN IT ON podcast recently sat down with Zadan and Meron to discuss the challenges of turning Jesus Christ Superstar into a live TV concert event, and how they wanted to honor Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's original intent of making it more of a concert. We also talked about how they plan to stage their next big show -- Hair -- including how they're incorporate the show's infamous nudity on NBC. She made her Broadway debut in The Civil War, where she created the role of Harriet Jackson.  An active concert artist, Ms. Jenkins has appeared with orchestras around the world including the Pittsburgh Symphony (with Marvin Hamlisch), National Symphony, Atlanta Symphony, Toronto Symphony, Calgary Philharmonic, The Philly Pops, and the Hong Kong Philharmonic, just to name a few.  Her Television credits include 30 Rock, the Practice, Law & Order SVU, the Sopranos, Law & Order and The Wiz Live!   When not acting and singing she spends much of her free time supporting the efforts of Covenant House by serving on the board of directors and organizing Sleep Out: Broadway Edition.

Working alone and with Neil Meron, his partner in the production company Storyline Entertainment, he produced such films as Footloose, Chicago and Hairspray.  Neil Meron is a film producer known for producing the 2002 film Chicago and the 2007 film Hairspray. With partner Craig Zadan he ran the production company Storyline Entertainment. Storyline Entertainment has had success with film musicals, such as Chicago (2002) and Hairspray (2007). Other films they have produced include If Looks Could Kill, Brian's Song, Living Proof, The Bucket List, and Footloose (1984 and 2011). They have also produced the live telecasts of The Sound of Music Live!, Peter Pan Live!, The Wiz Live! and the Broadway revivals of How To Succeed in Business Without Really Trying and Promises, Promises. They have produced the Oscars telecasts since the 85th Academy Awards (2012). They’ve put Broadway on the minds of millions and millions of people, and they sat down with me to talk all about why the theater is important, and . . . The lesson Joe Papp taught them about how to pick a project. Just what is happening with the Broadway production of Bombshell and when??? What Hollywood has taught them and what they think Broadway should learn. How they’ve managed to convince the biggest names in entertainment, from Barbra Streisand to Bette Midler, to do their stuff. And how you can learn to convince people to. Which one reads the chat rooms and which one doesn’t, and how they feel about the social media audience. Is it too soon to call Marcus Paul James' new single "Living in Dreams" the best song you'll hear in 2016? Yes, it might be a tad presumptuous, but I stand behind my prediction that you will play this ballad 10 times in a row. The Brooklyn-native singer/songwriter comes naturally to good music with a successful career performing on Broadway in musicals like RENT and the Heights. More recently he appeared in NBC's the Wiz Live last December. Crack open the eggnog and light up a fire as you settle down with us for an evening of musical quizzes, chatting about the recent NBC Live production of “The Wiz”, potentially poor Christmas musicals, the questionably successful live stream of “Daddy Long Legs” and a plethora of deviation from the point. Happy Holidays! SHOW NOTES To get you in the mood here’s Queen Liza-With-A-Z and Cyril Ritchard after what looks like their seventh carton of eggnog. Enjoy Dame Angie leading the working broadway masses in a post-strike sing a long! (And do your best to look past her lyric difficulties). Check out Ralphie from “A Christmas Story” saving the day with his Red Ryder Carbine Action BB Gun, with the compass on the stock and this thing that tells time, in an early rehearsal for its out of town tryouts in Chicago. Have sympathy for poor Marta in the recent “Sound of Music” live broadcast in the UK, who takes a fall but recovers beautifully with the aid of Maria (played by the surprisingly alright Kara Tointon). Jimi is still obsessing over the gods of lighting design who were integral in making “The Wiz Live” as spectacular as it was. Just look at that cyclorama! Ask anyone what the ultimate movie musical song is and they will answer only thing: “Reproduction” from Grease 2. They’d be 100% correct. Here’s why… Hey listeners, we want you to quiz us! Tweet us any song title (grammar and punctuation doesn’t matter) which is shared by two musicals to @jimandtomic and we’ll try and guess! Have a look-see at the trailer for the Off-Broadway premiere of “Daddy Long Legs”. What do you think? Was this the right musical to invest in streaming to the world? Let us know your thoughts! It's our 150th episode! And who better to celebrate with than legendary soul singer Jill Scott? Scott performed in Louisville this week, and she took some time out of a busy touring schedule to visit with us on Strange Fruit. We wanted to know how she maintains her integrity in an industry that seems to value marketability more than artistry. "Anytime I go outside of the realm of who I am intrinsically, I start feeling funny, I get sick, I ain't right," she explains. "I just won't do it. 'Cause my spirit will knock me out - believe it." She also told us how she kept her son from getting separation anxiety when she left for work - by turning the electrical breaker off, so he could understand what would happen if she didn't earn a living. "It was a huge lesson for him," she said. "The next day, he was like, 'Mommy, can you go to work?'" We covered amazing black motherhood in our Juicy Fruit segment too, with special guest Jason Walker (who was a guest on our very first episode!). Erykah Badu recently made a joke at Iggy Azalea's expense at BET’s Soul Train Awards. Then this week, saying her daughters love Azalea, she issued a hilarious "apology" (http://thegrio.com/2015/12/08/erykah-badu-issues-hilarious-apology-to-iggy-azalea/). And of course, we recap The Wiz LIVE on NBC: what worked, what didn't, and how it stacked up to other versions of the iconic show. (Image credit: jillscott.com)
